"If only we could find out how to control it. Do you think it is possible to attune to it?"The red-haried Half-Elf asks the others.
The golden eyed Tiefling looks mildly shocked at the suggestion. If it was anyone else she would protest, but her admiration for the amber-eyed Half-Elf's self-confidence and audacity gives her a moment of pause.
The red-haired Half-Elf shakes her head. "No, Milly is right, it would be too dangerous. Send it to whichever realm it would mean the least risk of it coming back for us." She turns and says to the ex-preceptor with a a small smile.
OK, then, I'd say it's settled... the figurine ends up in the Far Realm - presumably by rolling the barrel it was hidden in through a Gate - so we don't even have to risk touching it.
[[ OOC: ...and that was the end of the Figurine Of Sserah Nightsbane's Doom, the mighty artifact that was able to kill One Who Sleeps once and for all - no one heard from it again and the mighty dragon, once awakened by Firion, proved unstoppable! 😉 ]]

Doncha' just hate Mondays? Lol
The barrel rolls through the gate, and disappears into the realm of madness, never to be seen again. And you managed to avoid the encounter I rolled up for day 2 of travel.
The remainder of the journey to the Shaded Isle goes by tensely, but you are not attacked outright again. Is there anything you would like to do before I describe your arrival on the island?

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
Duwamilly takes the opportunity to learn as much as she can about seafaring and navigation - avoiding disturbing those who work, but talking to anyone who has free time to dedicate to her. Among other things, she also tries to find out what Fox knows about the Shaded Isle. If he agreed to sail there, he has probably already been there on other occasions... so he potentially knows more about it than the poor ex-Preceptor, who has never set foot there in her life!
Yasmina would unfortunately spend much time worrying about the Shaded Isle and the Lich who they would soon serve. To take her mind of it she would exrcise with Delvindra, training her dancing alongside the Tiefling's kata, but also in the evenings relax and admire the beauty of the endless seas.
The Captain explains to Milly that he has run supplies to the Shaded Isle on a few occasions. There is a small settlement on the shore that is mostly populated by castaways and other down-on-their-luck individuals who had nowhere else to go, as well as their descendants. He didn't really spend a lot of time on the island, though, and mostly just dropped off whatever he was contracted to deliver as quickly as possible, but he is able to tell you that the entire island is scarred and broken by magic. He notes that the undead he actually saw on the island appeared to mostly be specters, though for some reason the undead never seemed to approach the settlement.
The Shaded Isle:
After several days at sea, you finally see it in the distance... an island shrouded in dark mists.
The waters around the island are eerily still... the crew of the ship barely dare to breathe as you dock at the lone settlement on this island. A man greets you as you disembark, along with several guards, and he seems a bit suspicious of your presence.
"Greetings, strangers!" the man says. "I am Elmar Erickson, mayor of this here city. We weren't expecting shipments today... what has brought you to the Shaded Isle?"
Duwamilly had climbed into the crow's nest, to experience (for once) the sensation of feeling so high and to spot the longed-for Shaded Isle as soon as possible.
The view is a little disappointing, because the 'dark mist' leaves little to be seen ('Damn! The island could have been a little less 'shaded'...'), but at the same time fascinating, with the its aura of mystery and the waters so calm ('On the other hand, who knows how many secrets are hidden under that veil of fog!?').
Once disembarked, the ex-Preceptor enthusiastically holds out her hand to the mayor, smiling at him full of trust: "Nice to meet you, Mr Erickson! I'm Duwamilly 'Planerunner' Gerinell! It's an honor to be received by the mayor himself! You know the joke about the mayor, the priest and the adultery? Oh, don't you?"
The gnome cleric briefly tells:
There was this old priest who got sick of all the people in his parish who kept confessing to adultery. One Sunday, in the pulpit, he said, "If I hear one more person confess to adultery, I'll quit!" Well, everyone liked him, so they came up with a code word. Someone who had committed adultery would say they had 'fallen'.
This seemed to satisfy the old priest and things went well, until the priest died at a ripe old age. About a week after the new priest arrived, he visited the Mayor of the town and seemed very concerned.
The priest said: "You have to do something about the sidewalks in town. When people come into the confessional, they keep talking about having fallen!"
The Mayor started to laugh, realizing that no-one had told the new priest about the code word.
Before the mayor could explain, the priest shook an accusing finger at the mayor and said: "I don't know what you're laughing about. Your wife already fell three times this week!"
"Anyway," Planerunner returns to the reason for the journey "my traveling companions and I have come to request an audience with Lord Matic Akkron, the lord of this island, on matters of the utmost urgency and importance. Those are really not laughing matters, sadly... Would you happen to be able to tell us what we can do to meet him? Is there a particular protocol to follow?"
Delvindra is a bit despondent after causing Godrick's disappearance but seems to enjoy the distraction and physical activity, looking forward to her daily katas and dance lessons with Yasmina.
When they reach the island, Didi is more than happy to let someone else handle the introductions. She doesn't even scowl or make any disapproving noises when the cleric of Garl Glittergold starts making adultery jokes.
As she looks over the humble settlement she can't help but feel a bit ashamed of her fine new clothes and tucks away her holy symbol under her robes to avoid discrediting her order.
The mayor (and several of the guards) chuckle at Milly's joke. But the mayor raises his eyebrow slightly when the Cleric states that the party have come to see Lord Akkron.
"I didn't even know he had a first name..." the mayor says. "But that is no business of mine. The Broken Lord can usually be found in his keep... but what business do you have with him? If you lot have come in the hopes of slaying a lich... I would strongly recommend against it, for a multitude of reasons. If, on the other hand, you're here to ask him for help like the last bunch who stopped by then we may be able to arrange something. Tell me, what are your names, travellers?"

Duwamilly is no less surprised than Delvindra to learn of someone else who has come seeking Lord Akkron's help, but still tries to reassure Elmar: "No, Mr. Erickson, you can rest assured, none of us have any ill intentions towards Lord Matic Akkron. From what we have had about him, the poor Chosen of Boccob is certainly not someone who deserves further misfortunes... Indeed, on the contrary, we can probably be useful to each other".
"As for who we are," the ex-Preceptor bows briefly as she introduces herself "I, as I told you before, am Duwamilly 'Planerunner' Gerinell. I am an ex-Preceptor and currently ambassador of good cheer to the world in the name of My Lord Garl Glittergold, The Watchful Protector, Master of Luck, Protection and Good Humor".
"As for my traveling companions," the gnome cleric introduces them one by one "they are Delvindra, Yasmina and Cal".
Planerunner gives everyone time to say something about themselves, then she continues: "However, as Delvindra has already shown, we are surprised to discover that Lord Akkron has already been sought by others... Let's hope that they are not Firion's spies! Firion is a very bad guy, I must say, just in case you don't know him yet. But even if they were spies sent by him, you certainly wouldn't have been able to know. In any case, if you can really 'arrange something' for us too, we would certainly be grateful!"
"About a year ago now," the mayor replies to Delvindra. "Baron something-or-other sent an envoy to beg our Lord for aid. Not sure what it was all about... but when he got back our Lord shut down for over a month. The way he was just sittin' there, silent and still, you would have thought he just up an' died if you didn't know better. No one really wanted to ask him what happened when he was finally himself again, for reasons that should be obvious."
The mayor scratches his chin thoughtfully at Cal's question.
"In all honesty, he is both kind and cruel," the man replies at last. "His generosity is seemingly boundless, as evidenced by the unfortunate souls whom he has granted safe haven on these shores, but so is his wrath. He is slow to anger, but when ignited his fury is enough to make the gods tremble. As for what you can offer him... I cannot say for sure what he may want or need. But please, travellers, come and rest. We do not have much, but we are willing to share what we have. In the morning I can send a message to our Lord that he has visitors."

As they step ashore on the Shaded Isle, Yasmina stay back with Delvindra, letting Milly do the talking, smiling wryly at her adultery joke, glancing over at the sometimes prude Tiefling beside her, frowning slightly as Delvindra removes her fineries. As Mayor Erickson offers them his hospitalty, the red-haired Half-Elf gives the man a warm smile and an appreciative nod, ready to follow him.

Cal will look at it, “Would if we destroy the item now that we now it will not blow up the ship.”

Are you all in agreement on what to do with the figurine? And on where you will send it to?
(Note: your Arcana checks were, unfortunately, not high enough to tell you anything that Milly's detect magic had not already told you)

(Delvindra is fine with sending it away, as long as it doesn't go to the Nine Hells)
