"Oh, it's easy..." Duwamilly explains "To attune to this item, you hold the needle to your skin where you want the tattoo to appear, pressing the needle there throughout the attunement process. When the attunement is complete, the needle turns into the ink that becomes the tattoo, which appears on the skin. After that, you'll strike better, harder, and you'll be able to use an Eldritch Maul effect!"
"I continue to think that resorting to violence is always a defeat..." the ex-preceptor points out "But since this time violence seems inevitable, it's better that at least said defeat is the defeat of our enemies!"
Delvindra rolls up her sleeve and hesitantly presses the needle into her left forearm, holding it there until the ink seeps fully into her skin. It spreads over her forearm as a swirl of color before slowly coalescing into vignettes of landscapes loosely framed by vines with white flowers which Delvindra covers with her sleeve.
Cal will look to Zander, “If you need something long ranger this will do nicely, I have a habit of running straight into battle. So it may be lost on me, but I will take it if you do not see a need for it.”
"What do you think," Delvindra asks the others, "should we put the pitch in between two of the rows of sarcophagi, where Firion's minions will be slowed down, and risk burning the mummies as well? Or do we put it in that span of hallway in between the rows of sarcophagi and the door?"
Duwamilly replies to the colossal warrior: "I already know that you usually prefer melee, Cal, honey. So, if you prefer to leave the wand to Zander, there's no problem for me. However, consider that as long as the enemies are far away, busy a falling into our traps, it might be better if you have something to hit them from a distance... Better than running through traps, fire and mummies, isn't it? When they are close, you will face them in melee".
"I would prefer to preserve poor innocent mummies..." the gnome cleric replies to Delvindra "so I would choose that span of hallway in between the rows of sarcophagi and the door".
Delvindra avoids getting sucked into a discussion of the relative innocence of the undead. After all, if she and Milly can agree on what to do, why bother quibbling over why?
"Come to think of it, if one of them takes the wand and the other one takes my bow, I would still have a trick or two to hit Firion's minions from a distance."
She looks down at her left arm and self-consciously tugs her sleeve a bit lower.
"Not the least of which would be, whatever this does."
The red-haired Half-Elf nods in agreement with what Milly suggests and accepts the staff, giving the Tiefling an encouraging smile as she enhances herself for the coming battle. "The tattoo, it looked good on you, you should be proud of your looks."She says with a warm smile to Delvindra. Having nothing significant to add to the planning she then checks in with Al-Ashef before heading back up to find a decent spot to rest and attune to the staff.
"Thank you both. I am good with what I have. With my Echo skill I can get into melee much easier now, and without increased harm to myself." He demonstrates having an echo of himself float above them. "And, as you can see it is solid." as his echo taps its sword on the the ceiling.
(I'm sure I could fill a week just RPing various conversations that Delvindra might have with each of her companions, but I certainly don't have anything plot-relevant except to ask if enough time passes for our items to recharge.)

Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

Once all the defenses are in place, Delvindra addresses the others.
"Remember, we don't have to win. We just need to make sure Firion loses. As long as we escape with the artifacts, we've succeeded. So when Milly says it's time to go, we go. No questions, no delays. But the more of Firion's minions that we can draw, and the longer we can keep them here, the better the chances are for Lord Akkron and the others."
"When the burial chamber gets overwhelmed, I suggest we try and fall back to the embalming room. If we can waste Firion's time for even a few more seconds, it will save innocent lives. But first and foremost, we need to be able to escape. Because if we fail to do that, then this has all been for nothing."
After saying her piece (and any follow up discussion), Delvindra will find a quiet place to meditate and pray for Ilmater to protect the people of the Shaded Isle and her companions... until the nervous energy takes over. Then she'll check the defenses one last time and try to calm and center herself by performing her slow katas.
Yasmina listens to the Tiefling's words, nodding grimly in agreement. She still someow doubted the enemy would force themselves down the corridor but feared what magics would be thrown into their enclosed chamber. Hopefully her master would get the enemy attention while she and the other accursed could blast away with impunity, targeting down the most threatening spellcasters first. The red-haired Half-Elf watches with a small smile as the Tiefling performs her katas but stays put, preserving her strength for the coming battle.
Cal will be impressed with the military strategy from his companion, “Also if there are ways to blind or silence them, this will go a far ways with arcane users. This is not the place for martyrs, myself included. Our true destiny lies beyond this plane so we must survive to see it through!”

(Alright, it sounds like we're ready to move along)
Many hours pass... and eventually, you begin to feel the walls shake slightly and hear the distant sounds that could be thunder, but which you suspect are instead the sounds of battle...
Not too much later, Al-Asfeh alerts Yasmina that he saw a group of cultists approaching, and heard other sounds that are likely more cultists. It doesn't seem to the familiar that the cultists know exactly where you are, and there are several groups searching the catacombs. He notes with a smirk that the undead seem to be attacking the cultists and delaying their progress.
It sounds like you're probably going to be dealing with several waves of cultists... once the first group finds you the others will come your way because of the commotion, so it would behoove you to destroy each group as quickly as possible to avoid being overwhelmed by sheer numbers.

With the embalming chamber raided and the traps set, all that is left for you to do is wait...
Is there anything that anyone would like to do in the next few hours before the assault inevitably starts?

Duwamilly tries to keep everyone's spirits up by joking and easing the tension. For the rest... she is ready for the start of hostilities.
