Holg'seyes lit up as Dathyra explained the vials ability. "That may come in handy later on! Keep that is a safe place for sure." Holg was growing tired as the night moved on but felt that the search was reaching it's end soon. "I don't think there is much else valuable in this room, let's move on."Holg proceeds to the next room along the floor.
"It seems we have a decision to make. Shall we stay here for the night or head back to the inn? If we stay here, we can catch anyone that tries to return, but we would have to take turns on watch. If we go back to the inn, we can get a full rest and get Mijira's equipment, but who knows what will happen here while we are away. Thoughts?"
"If we leave now, there's no doubt Kristoff and anyone else with him will know that someone invaded his home. With two...dead, he's going to know something happened, and will likely take precautions or be on the lookout when we return." Dathyra shuddered as she remembered the man whose head she had bashed in back in the kitchen. "But, I understand our need to go back as well. I just don't think we'll get the opportunity to come back so easily. I guess what I'm saying is that I'm for staying here." She quickly stopped talking before she could go on any further. She wasn't used to making big decisions like this, and it made her feel so indecisive. Nonetheless, she had thrown her bid to one side.

"Can we...do both?" Jodon asked. "If it weren't for Mijira's equipment, I would definitely vote to stay. Would we have time, say, for Mijira and I to fetch her gear, and return to rest overnight? I am loath to split up, but we need to keep vigilant here, Mijira knows where the gear is, and I could inform you silently upon our return, so, if we must divide, that would make the most sense."
"I think Jodon has the right of it. I need to retrieve my equipment but it sounds like we need to be here lest we lose the footing we have gained. Jodon and I can go quickly and return just as fast. Perhaps the two of you could hide out in one of the storage rooms? What of the traitor though? He may have sided with you out loud, but they could have just as easily been honeyed words to save his life. Something had him here with these...men. If you can call them that."
"Wendel is currently unconscious downstairs, and I don't see him being an issue. We could even bring him back with us, for our protection as well as his. Whoever may return won't know who was here so our identity may be safe. And let me ask this. Are we planning to follow this tunnel and see where it goes? If so, it may be more prudent for us all to be more prepared and better equipped for whatever evil may await us. I understand not wanting to leave this foothold, but what happens if someone returns and we are missing half our team? Four of us is twice as powerful as just two, especially when we need to rest and recover. Plus, we may be able to seek some answers around town about the symbol and who 'R' may be."
"I will go as the group sees fit. However, I have a feeling we'll find many more locked doors and wards upon our return. We'll have to prepare for that. But, yes, in the meantime, we can see what we can learn about this group Kristoff has fallen in with. And, I do think we are going to have to venture into the tunnels at some point. If it leads to this location where he traps unsuspecting travelers, then we need to do what we can to stop it."

"It sounds like we are mostly in agreement to go. Do not worry Dathyra. We will solve this mystery and put an end to their murders." Mijira tries to force a comforting smile that looks more like a snarl on the dragonborn. She then goes to check on Wendle.
Dathyra checked to make sure she still had the odd religious relic and the letters. If they had some time before they had to go back, she would need them to continue their investigation in the city. She clambered down the ladder to follow Holg and Mijira.

The cool night air provides a welcomed relief to the party as the four of them walk along the empty Neverwinter streets. The stuffy air inside the manor smelled of oils and death. It was good to leave it behind, even if a return trip seemed inevitable. Wendel bounces along wordlessly, still unconscious for the whole ride to the inn. Mijiraleads the way to a small inn that was labeled on its sign as the Sleepy Fawn. The door is propped open and a heavyset man sits fast asleep in a chair just inside the front door; Mijira recognizes him as the innkeeper.
Upon entering the inn, a boy playing with his toys by the unlit hearth calls out, "Pa! Pa! Some people are here." The man stirs at the sound, blubbering something about being quiet and a cat. He looks the party over and his eyes fall on wendel, then back to Holg, and once again. "What's all this now? Ye need a room?" He moves to get up, but he stops mid way and has to give it a second go. Walking over to the counter, it's evident that the man has a bad leg.
Jodon realizes the man's leg is beyond his power to aid, especially in his tired state, and instead faces the boy with a wide smile. "You shouldn't be awake this late, young Master, but, since you are, may somebody your own size play too? Watch..." He uses Minor Illusion to have one of the toys cheer at the suggestion, and giggles at the boy's expression. "If you'll let me, I can help," he says to both father and son with a wink. With their permission, using repeated casts of Minor Illusion, he provides the toys with suitably-quiet-for-1-AM sound effects and scenery to back up the boy's playtime while the adults in the room tend to business.
Presumably, Jodon would know if this is a setting where such a use of magic would be forbidden or horrifying for the common folk, in which case he would not do this. If it's up in the air, I can certainly make whatever check you deem necessary to see if Jodon knows this,. If it comes back unsure, he would still do it, because what could be more helpful than sparking the imagination of a child?
Dathyra smiled fondly at the childlike wonder and helpfulness of the halfling. He would make a fine father to some lucky children one day. However, she needed to return to the task at hand. "We have been traveling, and we've come across a bit of misfortune." She nodded over towards Wendel, still in Holg's arms. "And our dragonborn friend here does believe some of her things may still be at this inn. I know it is late, but we do require a bit of space to help our injured friend and to provide him safety." She figured the man didn't need to know the whole truth of where they had been or how Wendel had been injured. Still, it wasn't like she had told a complete lie.

The exchange between the innkeeper, Dathyra and Mijira comes to an odd point. When Mijira had mentioned her belongings, the man's mouth turned up in a sort of 'I've got you now' smirk. The dragonborn had seen it before in one or two taverns on the shadier side of the city. No doubt this man was looking for turn a profit for storing her gear or, more likely, he had already sold it for far too few gold pieces. Dathyra begins to explain things to the man, but his attention is drawn to Jodonand the small boy. Half way through the explanation, the elf trails off a bit, not even sure if the large man was even paying attention to her at this point. In reality, he wasn't; his memories were drawn to this very room from a time long past.
When his attention returns to the dragonborn and elf, his smile is genuine and accepting. "Aye, I have your things. In the closest there." He gestures across the room to a small door and continues, "Did ye say that yer needing a room? It's five silver for the lot of ye. That'll get ya two rooms."His attention falls to Holg, "I have a cot for the lad. Tell 'em not to drink so much next round."
Mijira plunks down 10 copper and 4 silver. "Thanks." Then she walks over to the closet and inspects her gear to make sure it is all there especially her box. When she finds it, she is going to use her body to shield her actions from anyone else and redraw the runes. It's been too long and she has been getting nervous thinking about just how long it has been. Normally she would not be so bold as to do this right here, but the situation demands it.
With his free hand, Holgattempted to snatch the coins from the table before the innkeeper could collect them. "Wait Mijira! I thought we were just here for your equipment? We have a few rooms at the Tapped Keg already available to us. We had some in our party leave so save your money and stay there with us."
Mijira calls over her shoulder, "Oh. Yes that makes more sense. I didn't know you had rooms elsewhere." She scoops up her coins and returns them to their rightful place. "Holg, this armor doesn't suit me, but it worked for the time being. After we rest you can have it back." This she says while adjusting her suit of chainmail over her shoulder.

The last two rooms seem to mimic Holg's sentiments, as they are just storage. Random object from the manor all stashed in one place.

Mijira: There was 17cp and 4sp in the boot. Sorry, I forgot that.
Was there a decision reached on who, if anyone, is leaving then? The time in game now is about 1am or so.
Wendel's prone form is still breathing, but unfortunately he is also still unconscious.
Holg follows Mijira down the ladder and throws Wendel's limp body over his shoulder. "Shall we go then?"
