(All will be explained. But you cannot stop/reverse the hanging, and don't have to address the crowd if you don't want to.)

That is what I do not understand. How can a handful of level 20s not be able to stop, or at least intervene, in a simple multi-step process? We skipped several steps. I do not mean to put actions into the others' mouths, so to speak, so I will not say anything they might have done, but, lacking knowledge of Alcashia's plan, there is virtually zero chance Isala does not shut down the execution with the ace in the hole he had saved for a rainy day, as the execution of an ally and the ostensible leader would constitute a thunderstorm.
That said, we are three; how many heroes are in the square?
If Gorgox feels something in his pocket (I'm at the inn and don't know anything that happened in the town square) I will check my pocket and read the note.
(Again, there is a plan. There are three heroes in the square as well.)

I know that was rather sudden, me getting hung and all. I've decided these people cannot be swayed from their heroes, and have decided to go the violent route. It's not set in stone, we can talk it over later. But one thing you should know about me, I do things by impulse. This should have gotten to you before I hung, but if it hasn't, I'm not really dead. That was just some poor thief who took something from me. My plan is to be dead, then after the arena battle, "come back" and force the heroes hand. They fight me, or I start killing random civilians until they do. You don't have to be a part if you don't want to, and if you want to save me, I can turn back time for you and we can go from there. I will be disguised as a blond wood elf named Shaligh. I will be gone for a little while, but the bard Victoria you met last night will help you through the day with your plans for the heroes.

Lyssma takes a while to read the letter, mouthing several of the words as she sounds them out. She takes little heed of the crowd dispersing around her, jostling her. Finally, she looks up from the letter and is visibly surprised to see that everyone has left.

Again, if there is a plan, and Alcashia does not share it, it is not fair to skip steps where players could intervene, according to how characters would act at to this point the flashpoint of the campaign. But, if we are going that way, if there are 3 of us and 3 of them, who are they, and where are they.

As people depart, Isala says, loudly, sadly, "Nature says blood it to be taken for sustenance, not in celebration. I tried to warn you. I pray the Mother judges you less harshly than you have earned this day." Looking down in supplication, he glares through hooded eyes at the angel. "And you, for ignoring me," he whispers to himself. Without moving, he activates the Quivering Palm he had placed upon the angel in the guise of Lyssma's sister, and uses his Portent of 3 to fortell his failure.
"NO! I tried to warn you" Isala shouts as the angel slumps to the ground. He rushes to the side of the hero who looks most like a healer, or, failing that, most like a caster. "Go to him!" he urges the hero.
This is what I meant by stopping the execution. The angel was dead the moment he allowed Lyssma's "sister" to strike him the other night. He was just waiting for Isala to tell him it was time to lie down. The instant before the nod would have been that time, and Isala had been preaching the nonsense about nature to plant in the crowd's head this was divine judgement, so that he would not even have to expose himself.
With 70 feet of movement, he should have no trouble getting next to any hero in the square, especially since had purposely moved right up to the foot of the stage beforehand.
A villain plans, and, if Alcashia was not going to share his plan, Isala had his own worked out in advance.
If the caster is surprised enough to allow Isala (or Lyssma) an action, then Isala will
Attack with two dagger strikes. If both hit, Isala may use the rest of movement to get to the third hero.
Strike 1: 17
Strike 2: 15
If either hit, Isala will spend three ki points to impose Quivering Palm upon this hero, as well. If both hit, the second one will be a Stunning Strike to impose the Stunned on the hero. If zero or one hits, I will post a follow-up so as to remove all possibilities of tampering with die rolls.
Edit: as bad as those attacks are, I want to use at least one luck:
Luck re-roll: 26
If this begins combat...
Initiative: 13
and save his next action for his point in initiative during the first round.
If this is in between...somehow not combat but the caster moves away from Isala, he will
Opportunity attack: 22, apply Stunning Strike, and use his other portent of 4 to force a failure so that the caster is Stunned
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Follow up, in case we are going with option 1, and neither attack hit. Flurry of blows:
Punch 1: 28 Damage: 8
Punch 2: 28 Damage: 14
Same as before. If one hits, Quivering Palm. If both hit, Quivering Palm + Stun. (Forgot damage first time around, but can add it to any option in the first post that you decide we go with)

(Alright, Theos is down....)
The angel collapses without knowing what happened. A healer takes them into their home, shaking their head sadly. The master Theos is dead.
The Lady tries to see what made the hero die. Investigation: 30 Though she doesn't know for sure what killed him, she has almost a sure bet it's Isala.
The other two heroes gather with you in the square. One is the Lady, the other a large Bugbear, naked except for a loincloth. The Lady plays her bet.
"What did you do to him?"
(If you would like to initiate combat, now is the time)

Sensing how formidable this woman is, Isalaspreads his arms in a peaceful gesture, sparing a glance at Aodh and Lyssma to see their reactions.
"My Lady? Your master spilled innocent blood today - not for the first time this tenday, I hear, and was finally judged for it. Not by me, though I can prove his faithlessness. Would that I could have saved the wrongly condemned, but he moved as quickly and decisively as the legends say." Isala walks straight up to the bugbear, still keeping his hands visible. "I await your judgement."
Yes, most likely this will come down to combat, but I want to take a round to talk, to let others in on it should they wish; lord knows I have already blown the original plan to high hell - really, I wouldn't have had i known the pland beforehand, but Isala is proud, does not like being on the wrong end of surpirses, and will have to work it out with Alcashia - and taken enough spotlight time. If they do attack/cast/grab Isala, it would be a DC21 Wisdom save to get past Sanctuary, and Disadvantage on the attack.
Isala: The Bugbear does nothing but growl, and the caster walks up to you, putting her face in yours. "We were sworn for life. He was partner, in and out of our job. Bullshit to your 'innocent blood spilling'. You really are ignorant to think that scum innocent. He was a treasonous murderer, just like you." She does not attack, but stares you deeply in the eyes.

Gorgox assessing the situation (Perception check 26), will slip on his Ring of Invisibility and carefully as not to bump into anyone in the crowd will move towards the bugbear and Isala. Trying to get 10 feet behind the bugbear.
I think the red gem lets us communicate with each other, if so I let Isala know when I am in position.
Isala returns the stare unblinkingly, placidly. "My lady, you mistake me. I do not think the scum innocent. The Mother simply thinks you and yours are guilty, too." He hands her Alcashia's note. "Maybe you did not mean to kill a stranger, but tell me, does that really matter to the poor innocent soul whose neck you broke?"
The Firbolg continues, stalling to allow Gorgox to get into position, and hoping that Aodh, Lyssma, and even Alcashia hear through the gem, "or maybe you did. Fourth execution this week? Have to keep the numbers up, keep the spectacle rolling for the crowd, no matter what? You civilized types are all the same. Quick to judge, quick to get your bloodlust up, quick to sate it, no matter the consequences. No matter who suffers. No matter how many have to die." I cannot stall much longer, he thinks through their bond, if Gorgox is right about an ability to communicate. The die is cast - in seconds, I am going to have to strike. Hurry!
"You are no protectors. Oh yes, you are powerful, I grant you that," Isala nods respectfully to both the bugbear and the caster. "But a protector, a hero, kills only when necessary, only when it furthers a cause, and for dammed sure only when they have the right man. This...Alcashia, was it? that you look down upon. This 'scum' managed to dupe you, easily, because you were all too eager to do his dirty work. The Mother is not trying to protect the natural order from your malevolence, but from your unchecked power, exceeded only by your rashness - a combination that will destroy thousands."
"But I am not the Mother, so I do not know if you are evil, or merely stupid and easily led. You tell me. Did you feel heroic when you saw your victim twitching and gasping?"

Aodh sighed in reaction. So many possibilities...gone. Well, if the corruption of the current heroes will not happen, then Aodh will have to settle for the corruption of others, perhaps even creating a hero to corrupt as well...? Yes. One of those urchins will do. Oh, but they will need motivation. Killing off the heroes is not enough...A lone survivor of an attack from a great evil from another world! It could use the death of the heroes to its advantage, after all...all that was needed was a diamond. Not just any diamond, either, but one with a high price. He may not be able to afford the item, but procuring it will be easy all the same.
The others can handle the heroes, but Aodh will search for and enter any shop that would sell a Diamond that costs 5000GP.
