There is a moment for the adventurers to begin to compose themselves after the battle, and then, as they start on their way, they begin to notice something; there are forms slumped against the walls of the cavern, mummified in spider webbing. Forms roughly their size. A crude sword sticks out of the webbing near one of these lumps.
There are also a few simple crates that are covered over in the webbing, as well as other camping implements.
This quick assessment would lead you to believe there was an encampment here...and that something (the spiders, most likely) set upon them when they weren't expecting it...
Num pauses to take a closer look at everything covered in web. He looks up at the ceiling first this time, looking for any more big spiders. If he doesn’t see any, he starts clearing webbing to see what’s underneath and cracking open crates.
Clive has a pretty good idea of what might be under the webbing. Not really wanting to see the food source, he will instead guard the far tunnel against spiders returning
Peanut stares at the webbed bodies and stands a little frozen in her spot. As Num starts working the crates and Clive watches their back, she well... keeps an eye on them. She thinks back to the fire and wonders what started it all.
Num's inspection reveals that the room is empty, save for the party and the lumps scattered around the walls. While Clive stands guard and Peanut watches, Num begins to clear some of the webbing out of the way. Some of the lumps are trivial. Crates, each tacked shut, as well as one small chest. Then there's the body of a rat laying piled up and desiccated, as though taken by surprise by the spider. It didn't even look like it, she, had struggled, having been taken in her sleep.
A second body is uncovered not far away, this one, a male, showing signs of a struggle. There is still a knife in one hand...
Jerad scans the area with weary eyes, blinking with... not fear really, just sadness as he takes in the gruesome scene. "How awful. What... sort of place did we stumble into?" He doesn't remember the route into the coop being so dangerous, but then again, its been quite some time since his last visit... and in all honesty he's not sure they've been going the same route he'd taken in the past.
"Let's... let the dead rest," he says sadly, ears quivering as he notices Num inspecting one of the chests. He sways slightly, leaning heavily on his spear. He really needs a rest, but not here. They need to get to safety. How... how is he supposed to protect Theodore in this state?
The young white rat stands in shock as Num uncovers the bodies. Before he knows it, his dancing lights fade out and his racing thoughts do not allow him to make new ones. Unconsciously, he steps closer to Jared. Until earlier, he hadn't considered the fact that nearly everything in this world could kill him. Before leaving the safety of the rosebush, he could only imagine what it was like to be in real danger. Oooohh, his parents will be so worried.
"I don't think they're resting," Num says, seriously. "The dead don't rest."
As he turns his attention back to the chest. "In the outside, most time it's eat or get eaten. Even the trees lose nuts and fruit. Spider's need eat too. Happy none of us are dinner."
Wanting to get moving, Peanut heads over to the chest and pulls out her thieves tools. She tries them in the lock.. but her shaking due to all the spiders make her fail miserably and she just sits down on the verge of tears.
Peanut sits down in a huff, and then Num opens the chest... It wasn't even locked....
Inside are rolls of rubber coated wires, roughly four of them... They look like something made by humans. They have big cups / sockets on the end, like they're supposed to be attached to something...
Clive continues to stand guard against any spiders returning. He does however, go slightly further into the tunnel, but not out of sight of the rest of the party.
Num likes the feel of the rubber wires but has no idea what they are so he shows them to everyone else.
"Can carry if think we should keep them," Num offers, before losing interest and wandering over to look down the tunnel that he's pretty sure leads to the coop.
He nods at Clive. "The no fly birds get angry, but their eggs make great meals."
Peanut remembers the farmer talking about his tractor not working (or something like that) and starts wondering if these have anything to do with it. She picks them up and starts looking them over.
Theodore slowly moves to look at the wires as Peanut investigates them. They look an awful lot like some of the things he's mess with in the rose bush...
Jerad blinks at Num's comment, not sure how to answer.
He takes note of the wires, but is too worn out to do anything other than nod along with the rest of the group and then follow as Num leads them onward.

Kintla shrugs, "I'm not really here for the eggs; our species is herbivore... but I do look forward to tasting their feed. Lead the way." She gestures.

"Bring the wires? Sure... but these are certainly from that tractor and I bet it's part of the problem the farmer was having. Why would they be in a chest here? Looks to me as though one of us small ones are responsible... but why?" Peanut looks very perplexed as she tries to ponder the implications of this.. and then her thoughts go back to the fire and the fact that it might have been arson.. but she follows the rest towards the coop.
"The spiders seem to have gone so we should be safe to keep following the tunnels." and Clive follows on, keeping second or third in the marching order.
