Dragging Theodore behind her, Peanut bursts out of the barn and looks around frantically, making sure there weren't any predators taking advantage of the situation. (Perception 14)
If she doesn't see any, she'll continue to the rosebush, constantly looking over her shoulder worried about her friends that are still in the barn. She starts talking to Theo to try and keep her mind off of things, "Have you been out of the roesbush much? I don't think I've ever seen you before. True, I haven't been part of the outside life of the farm for that long, enough to make a home though and a few friends. But that bushhog..." she gulps at what that thing might do. "Ooh... maybe that fire will take care of it for us? One can hope."
Jerad also moves to help save the young ones from the debris, eyeing Indy when he hears Num's question. Why would anyone intentionally start a fire in here with so many people present? "...did you at least see what happened?" he asks, his voice void of any accusation.
Noticing Peanut glancing towards the sky, Theodore does the same. (Perception 4)
"Uh. No, not really. Hahah."He gives a nervous laugh as he runs along. "Oh? So you are new here? Well that explains why I never heard anyone mention a hedgehog living around here." He glances back as well with a worried look. Hopefully everyone makes it away from there alright. How did that fire even start? "Y-yeah, It would be nice if something good came from that fire!"He replies, though he is unconvinced.
Luckily for Peanut and Theodore, there is no sign of predators as they exit the barn with a steady stream of evacuees coming out behind them.
A young mouse, caught up in the fleeing, stops and cries as she watches in panic stricken terror. No more than a child, she appears to be alone.
Some of those who have decided to flee, including the possum, are already making their way across the fifty feet of mowed grass around the barn so they can disappear into the high grass of the fields...
The countertop overhead begins to crackle as the fire takes hold and smoke begins to hang in the air. Plunging into the debris near the work bench, it doesn't take Indy, Num, and Jerad long to find the little mice as they start trying to make their way out. All five of them look frightened. Their mother comes out behind them, ushering them toward the door.
"Our home..." She laments, looking over her head at the countertop. The flames still aren't visible from the floor, but the flickering light they give off dances over the walls and ceiling.
Clive stops his running back and forth, and instead tries to hide in the shadows around the barn (stealth 8) and watches the farmhouse for any sign of movement in this direction (perception 20) so he can warn everyone else.
Peanut doesn't see any predators, but she sees the young mouse panic stricken and alone. Letting go of Theodore's hand, she approaches the child, "Hello, where is your family? Do you know where you live?"
Turning back to Theodore assuming he is still with her, "Yeah, sometime over the summer I left the farmhouse."
With the mouselings delivered into the relative safety of their mother’s care, Indy casts about for a garden hose. He does not feel confident enough to climb the table, extinguish the flames; but perhaps by wetting the surrounding areas, it might be contained? (Investigation: 21)
Hearing the queries of the others, he quickly shares what he witnessed: “Rat with a warpick. Went that way.”
He indicates the approximate direction with his tail, as he continues his search for a water supply.
The young rat barely notices the crying mouse, and thus stumbles a few steps forward after Peanut releases his paw to check on her. After catching himself, he turns around. He'd made a promise not to do anything alone, though he was supposed to stay with Jerad...which given the circumstances, his parents can't really hold his breaking that part against him. However, that promise isn't what keeps him with Peanut. Most of it is just the thrill of speaking with an animal of a species he'd never met before....and of course there was this poor child. "It's alright little one." He says quickly, he bends down to be at eye level with the child. Then blinks, as he realizes that his red-eyed gaze may not be all that comforting and stands back up. "U-uh, we can help you find your family, but maybe we should get a little farther away from the flames?"Then when Peanut speaks, he gets distracted again, "You were IN the farmhouse?!"He exclaims, "What's it like in there? How did you manage that without being caught?!" His eyes sparkle with excitement and amazement. It seems he's forgotten about the fire...
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
A rat intentionally started the fire? Jerad can't imagine why someone would do such a thing. Even without the large gathering inside, it just seemed wrong. But perhaps it was just a hasty decision, one made out of fear and the desire to be rid of the bushhog. Maybe.
For now, he needs to help get these younglings to safety. He rests a comforting hand on the mother mouse's shoulder as she laments about their home, "I'm truly sorry miss."He glances up at the flickering light, wishing he could invite her into the rosebush, but unsure if that would be... well allowed. "If there is anything I can do to help, I will."He watches for a moment as she leaves with her children, hoping that she won't hesitate to ask for help, but also knowing that many of the farm animals don't trust the rats of the rosebush.
Then he turns to Num and Indy, "We must be quick. Surely it won't take long for one of the bigfolk to notice the smoke and come to investigate." As he speaks, he also looks around for water, and tries to help Num if possible.

Sometime during the whole endeavor, he says to Indy, "Please, once we are out of danger, I would like to ask further questions about the one who set the fire."Maybe he can get a description, which could lead him to discovering the culprit.
Clive tries to slip into the shadows, but within moments a small family of mice move right past him, blowing his cover as they ditch the barn and head toward the tall grass of the fields around them.
At the same time, Peanut is nearby addressing the small mousleing who has stopped, too afraid to continue on. The poor little thing looks up at her, and is no more than 3 or 4 months old*. She reaches out toward Peanut, pink little paws grasping for someone, anyone to help her.
"My daddy went out to get food and hasn't come home!" She says with a sort of scared desperation. The mouseling gives Theodore a hard look as he leans in close to her. She looks frightened of the rat, so much bigger than her and with those red eyes the likes of which she has never seen before. However, it's clear she quickly decides that he is close enough to what she herself. She's still reaching for Peanut as she studies him.
* 3 to 4 months in this case would be the human equivalent of approximately 5 to 6 years old.
Num sees Indy's found the big water pipe called a hose but he spots a problem. It's not attached to where the huge man's have the water. Num points at the water sprayer thing out in the yard.
He shouts to the other two helping with the water (Jerad and Indy) and points out the hose needs to be attached. "You attach and I'll take the hose up to the fire".
Ran scoop up the one end and takes it up on to the bench to spray water on the fire, looking for somewhere to brace himself once Jerad and Indy get the water flowing.
Jerad rushes over to the yard hydrant, picking up the opposite end of the hose without stopping, and then climbing up the hydrant. As he leans over to screw the hose on he says to Indy, "I've got this." Once he has the hose connected, he shouts, "Ready when you are!" Hoping he's loud enough for the strange rat, Num, to hear.
Peanut first scoops up the little mouseling, "C'mon little one, by the barn is not where you want to be right now. Do you know where your family lives? Where your home is? I'm sure your daddy will be back soon."
Turning to Theodore, she looks at him a little surprised. "Manage that without getting caught? What do you...oh! no, I was Jessica's pet." She continues to run towards the rosebush unless the mouseling lets her know where she lives. "What's your name? Mine's Peanut." she says to the little one.
Theodore continues to smile reassuringly at the little mouse, "Yeah, I'm sure your daddy is just fine. Right now, we just need to keep you safe too." He hopes his doubt doesn't come through in his voice, but a missing father is concerning. "Do you know where your mother is?"
He continues to run alongside Peanut after she scoops up the mouse and turns back for the rosebush. "A pet! Like Dragon? Wow." He restrains himself before asking more questions, right now is REALLY not the time for that.
Every once in a while he glances back towards the fire, hoping to see how things are going.
Despite his good intentions with the hose, Indy lacks the strength to be much use in deploying it. The diminutive shrew helps as best he can, and encourages the others fighting the fire: “I can hear the water, feel it, here it comes! Hold on!”
