If he sees no immediate danger he will search the corpse. He calls up since there has already been enough noise to blow their cover, "I've got this one. What did they say about gnomes?"
Clermar: Scanning the lower level of the cavern, you don't see any other movement or potential threats. This room looks like it was probably one of the older parts of the mine, which was used for storage once the ore ran dry. Decrepit mining carts and tools lay scattered in the corners, blanketed with thick layers of dust and cobwebs. Two ramps on the other side of the room lead to other passages, going deeper into the mine. On the kobold's body, you find a bag with a few scraps of dried meat, and within a smaller side pocket, a single red dragon scale.
"Anyone familiar with kobolds? I speak draconic, maybe we could capture one and question it about this alleged dragon and treasure? This is crazy, getting jumped by kobolds for some coin!"

Frank follows Clermar down and see the red dragon scale as Clermar pulls it from the pocket,
"I hope that's just a souvenir left behind when the dragon left. I would not like to find that a dragon still lives here."
Frank's level of nervousness goes up another notch. Frank decides to get out his own torch and light it, before continuing to keep his eyes open for any danger.
Frank: You scour the vicinity for anything that would cause alarm. After a couple minutes, you've found no hint of traps or hidden enemies waiting for an ambush. You do however, notice a set of seemingly kobold footprints that lead up the ramp to the right.
"Well, those funny figures that tried to ambush us said something about gnomes, right? I know they didnt really qualify as sentries and i tend to see the glass half empty, but whoever lives down here is expecting someone. We're in more trouble than we think."
Ospos reminds Nean, "We did kind of set off an alarm when we set off the trap on the door. And the kobolds have made this mine their home. Those kobolds did try to drop those stones on my head and I am kind of short. So if they said something about gnomes, maybe they just mistook me for one."
Ospos: As you ponder why it would even matter to the small humanoids whether or not you are a gnome, you recall hearing tales of kobolds viciously attacking gnomish expeditions. This behavior is unusual for kobolds, as they tend to try and avoid fights and direct conflict. Possibly due to some ancient grudge, kobolds just seem to be incredibly hostile to gnomes.
Ospos seems even more sure of himself as he elaborates, "Yeah, I remember hearing tales about Kobolds being very hostile towards Gnomes. I'm thinking more and more I was mistaken for a gnome, and well.. Dril is a gnome."
Having spotted some kobold tracks, Frank informs the others,
"Hey, I think there are some tracks over here. They lead up that way."
Frank points out the tracks leading up the ramp on the right.
"Do you think we should follow them, or should we try to avoid them? If the kobolds have found and collected the treasures of the mine, then we should probably follow the tracks, as the mirror would most likely be with the kobolds somewhere."
Frank winces as Ospos reminds Nean about the alarm being triggered.

Dril History:18
"A war against Gnomes! In no way are we qualified for this, this is the last straw we must head back. Great for you tall fighters and that quiet dwarf fella but they will be targeting ME! See! more tracks over there."
Dril: A war?! Clearly this adventure was a mistake, how could you find yourself in the middle of a racial conflict between kobolds and gnomes? how could there be a war and you didn't even know about it?! Wait.... through your hysteria you realize that it's highly unlikely there's an actual war going on here, without you having any inkling of it. As Ospos talks, you do recall hearing stories of aggressive kobolds living underground, ready to snatch any gnomes who take a wrong turn down a tunnel. You're still at more risk than your taller friends, but it's not quite the bloody battle that first sprung to mind.
Whilst the group were spending osme time deciding what they were doing, Nodrus spoke up, "You lot decided where we're goin', further in or back out? 'cause i'm ready when you are."
"Sounds like a plan, lets go." Nodrus follows after Liafial, keeping an eye on the gnome as the group followed the tracks, making sure that he was out of any immediate danger in case any more of those kobolds decided to show their faces.

"That Oola definitely played us. A potential war between kobolds and gnomes and she sent us right into the battlefield to retrieve a magical mirror."
Ospos raises his eyebrows, "She warned us there would be kobolds. And what is this about a war? What war?"
