"Oh, I expect they will probably follow along. They usually turn up in the most unexpected places. And they say, I'm supposed to be the stealthy one, ha!"
"It will be fine, when I said, they seem to have a sixth sense about where I am, I meant it. They have found me hiding in the places they could not have know I was hiding, I mean, not at all."
"I suspect Franz may know some magic for locating me or something. Things will be fine with them, I've learned not to worry about those two. Besides there are far more concerning things to spend my time worrying about."
Frank again, scans the area, with a concerned look on his face. Anyone might think he was concerned someone or something unsavoury was trying to find him.
At hearing Ospos offering to play some music and noticing his instruments for the first time, Frank remarks,
"Oh, are you a bard Ospos? Bram is a bit of a bard, does some great shows with music and illusions. Nice way to unwind at the end of a long day, watching a show with a hot meal. Got any good upbeat marching songs? Something to help get the blood pumping?"
"Well, look at it like this. If we do find anything worthwhile, we only have to break our backs hauling it up here, instead of three damned days to the damn city."
Rat leads the way up the trail, which gets increasingly rocky as it snakes around boulders, sometimes requiring thr group to climb up rocks or leap across small gaps in the stones. As the group clears most of the trees, Solacus becomes visible, a small smudge of grey against the green hills of Eastern Uvalli. After a few hours, the party comes around a bend, and an overhang in the cliff reveals a shallow cave. Towards one end, there is a doorway carved into the stone, with worn dwarven runes etched along the frame. In contrast to the weathered but fine masonry, there is a ramshackle wooden door wedged into the opening. Rat does a wide sweep of the area, before pointing to what appear to be tracks leading into the mine shaft. “Uhm... yeah these aren’t fresh. Maybe.... a couple weeks at most. I don’t think this passage gets much use from the kobolds.” He reaches for the reigns of the donkey. “I’m going to uh... stay nearby. Keep watch.”
Ospos looks directly into the eyes of his donkey and tells him, "Keep an eye on Rat. Make sure he gets plenty of water and a chance to feed. A good brush down would do him good too."
Ospos removes the two coils of rope from the donkey, looking to others to carry it in. Looking at Frank and then the door, he says, "You're in the lead now."

While preparing to enter the mine, Dril lights a small fire, some incense and sings some ritual incantations to Detect Magic and also making an arcana check to see if the runes indicate arcana without actually being magic.
Nean can't help but smile at Ospos's little rant. He follows the others over to the entrance, where he investigates it for any hidden mechanisms. "Before we actually dive into this hole, have you been in there yourself, or did you only scout out the whereabouts of the shaft, Rat?"
Ospos: Rat cracks a mile at the halfling's antics as he takes the reigns, a rare expression for the anxious scout.
Frank: You can't quite make sense of the cobbled construction of the door, but you look where traps would normally be placed on an entrance like this, and find nothing.
Dril: You're not at all familiar enough with dwarven script or enchantments to determine the nature of the runes, but as you open up your arcane senses, there does not seem to be any presence of magic in the area.
Nean: "Ah n-no... I've never been inside." he responds as you look over the door as Frank steps back. As you study it, it's deceptive design becomes apparent to you. What appears to be some sort of support beam at the top of the door is lined with small exposed nails, and it seems precariously set to fall straight down on anyone who opens it. While it's not at all elegant, the roughness actually serves to disguise the simple but effective trap.
Clermar: "Yes, I'll be... fine. Really, this is uhh, well kinda my element."
Frank turns from the entrance and addresses everyone,
"Well I don't see any traps of the kind I have seen before. If we are ready to start exploring this mine, I can scout ahead a little way and return with the info, or we can all just head in and discover any surprises together."
Replying to Frank, "I am good at helping others do their work better, but I'm not a frontline fighter or a scout. I'll stay in the middle, and help where I can."
Looking at the others, "Anyone going to pick up those bundles of rope? We can leave them here, but if we need them we'll have to backtrack to come get them, and if that's the case I'll leave the grappling hook here."
"I'll take the extra rope Ospos, just tie them onto my pack here. Why don't we all head in together Frank, I'll keep right behind you." Clermar moves up to the tunnel entrance, he will follow five feet behind Frank if he takes the lead.
"I'm getting second thoughts guys. Maybe we can invest the money, pay off our benefactor, and have some profit to split!?"
Looking around, Dril knows that he is committed to the task. He grabs a stone that will fit in his small hands and throws it down the entrance to the mine, listening to the echoes and peering in...
Rubbing his eye as he caught up to the group, following a few feet behind from a sleepless night, Nodrus steps forward to the front of the group, "I'll take the lead, I can take a few hits if there's anythin' out to get us." Nodrus stands awaiting a response, rubbing his eye a second time before checking that he had brought all his equipment with him from the camp site, which he had done.
Dril: (the entrance isn't open, theres a ramshackle wooden door. Frank said it's all clear but Nean is still investigating it.)
Edit: for speed's sake, we can assume that as Nean noticed the trap, it became apparent to everyone else as he takes the time to look at it, so anyone is welcome to try to disarm it or just charge through

Frank: You reach up with your tools and begin trying to remove the spiked plank from the door. You get the sense that if you can just crack the door open ever so slightly, you should be able to safely disarm it. It is tightly shoved into the opening, and after a few tugs the door shoots open faster than you expect it to. The plank swings down towards you, and a clamor of bells echoes down the dark hallway. Once the door slams to a stop, you can see that the bells were strung to the other side of the door, attached to the spiked wood so that they would go flying if it fell. Dril snorts a small amount of ground mushroom. "Caves snuff me up. You alright? I suppose torches are in order? having lost the element of surprise and all."
Dril peers down the opening. He has never liked life beneath the surface, but his genetics adapted his eyes to see that which shouldn't nevertheless.
"Don't worry Frank. Discovering the traps is one thing, but disarming them will prove to be way more difficult. Don't think i would've done better there myself." He then turns to Dril. "Absolutely. Now that we sent our regards i'd prefer to see what's coming at us." He takes out his tinderbox and lights up a torch. "Let's get going."

Frank manages to leap back, just in time to avoid the spikes,
"ah, eh, sorry about that, I'm, not as used to these kinds of rough, makeshift contraptions."
Frank looks very cowed by his failure,
"I'm, really sorry..."
Frank moves back away, letting others make the decisions. He appears to have lost much of his confidence.
