"I think I've found something of interest here Kitaer, not wine but still."Daryos says to the hoardtaur, taking the keys and pocketing them but letting the hoarder take care of the other things found in the secret compartment. "I suppose the small keys are to rooms upstairs, but this large silvery one might just lead to more interesting things."
"I just found two bottles of mead," Kitaer replies and carefully puts the bottles into a sack for later. "Not enough for everyone but it's a start..."
"What have you got though?" he asks moving in closer and bending down to look. "Plenty would have pocketed the coin unmentioned... I'm not sure what these other things are though. These balls seem a bit better made than one would need for a sling. We might as well bring with us and noodle it out more back at base."
(Kitaer wouldn't know a pistol if one was shot at him...)
"Mead? Well that is certainly something."Daryos says with an appreciative smile. "And I would hope we are a team now, collecting things for the group to use for the better of the franchise. The least I can do is trying to lead by example."He adds to the minotaur's comment.
Vesna cautiously makes her way closer to the debris, gingerly stepping around broken beams and scattered shingles. Her eyes scan the wreckage, seeking any possible clues that might hint at what transpired here or anything interesting to find. She squints, trying to discern shapes or objects in the mess.
As she leans in closer, a sudden gust of wind enters the tavern, stirring up a whirlwind of dust and aged particles. Caught off guard, she inhales a cloud of the swirling debris, causing her to splutter and cough. "Ah-ah-ah-choo!" she sneezes abruptly, her head jerking back slightly in response to the unexpected tickle in her nose.
Her eyes water involuntarily from the fine dust that floats into them, stinging and clouding her vision momentarily. Vesna blinks rapidly, trying to clear her eyes and regain focus, but the discomfort distracts her. She rubs her eyes with the back of her hand, inadvertently smudging the dirt on her cheek in the process.
"Mphh... typical," she mutters under her breath, trying to blink away the irritation while wiping her nose with her sleeve. But hey, at least it wasn't a fallen shingle.

Nesyax calls out to the others. "This spiral stair goes down to what must be a basement. Could be something interesting there." She points back towards the stage. "A number of rats in here too, though I guess that's expected. Probably just your ordinary rodents but should stay alert if we go down below."
"And we've found some interesting things here behind the bar, among it a silver key. Let's continue downstairs and see if we can find what it will open."The young white-haired noble calls back to Nesyax, Vesna and Stasyn, then motioning for Kitaer to take point again as the team warily descend down the stairs. If necessary Daryos would also light a torch before heading down.
Stasyn walks in while making sure not to walk on the rubble. "I too wonder what caused the roof to collapse. Excellant find of the key. Alright let's see what is at the bottom of the steps" He tests the steps of the stairs to make sure it can hold his weight without collapsing. If the steps hold, he heads down the stairs.
Stasyn moves around the pile of rubble in the center of the room. The he notices that the sound of the floor creaking gets louder and the wood seems to give a little under his feet the closer he is to the mountain of debris but otherwise fails to notice anything else of importance. He meets up with his companions as they prepare to head downstairs.
Daryos lights his torch, sending wisps of black smoke drifting upwards as red and orange light dances and reflects off the wooden walls. Assuming Kitaer takes the lead, the group begins making their way down the stairs into the basement. Half the stairwell leading downward was dimly light by the light piercing through the hole in the ceiling, but by the time the group reaches the bottom, the flickering torch light is the only thing separating them from the stifling and stagnant darkness. As you descend, the wooden walls and floor from upstairs transition to cool stone that is slightly damp to the touch. Instead of the walls being covered with paintings, they instead appear to be covered with old cobwebs that drift slightly as you move past. The musty air down here feels is heavy and the smell of death and rot lingers down here similar to the streets above.
From the bottom of the stairwell, you can make out a couple rows consisting of massive wooden barrels in the center of the room, straight out from the stairwell. The large barrels down here share many of the same markings as the smaller ones upstairs and appear to be able to hold hundreds of gallons of liquid.
The sound of breaking glass prompts to quickly look to your right. A filthy rat jumps from a cluttered table and scurries back deeper into the far side of the basement. As you can partially make out a few tables with chairs and strange equipment resting on top and scattered around the floor nearby.
To the left, a small saloon style swinging door is visible with what looks to be a filthy and long abandoned kitchen just beyond....
OOC: Let me know who is going where and make sure you give me perception checks. Thanks!
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Coming downstairs, Daryos knocks on the wooden barrels to check if they seem empty or might hold more ale. "Okay, see what useful things you might find and keep an eye out for what the silver key we found will open."He says quietly to the others, then proceeding a bit further to light up more of the basement.
OOC: I am going to wait to see if anyone goes left or right before revealing more of the map. Also do we have other light sources or are some of you simply relying upon darkvision?

After her vision seemingly goes back to normal, Vesna follows the rest of the group down to the basement. She makes sure to stay away from the cobwebs, hoping not to get any giant spiders in her hair now. Her nose twitches and wrinkles at the heavy smell in the air, but she manages to supress any further sneezing. Still, an involuntary squeal leaves her lips at the sight of the scurrying rat, before sighing in relief, It is just a rat, not a monster.
As the cleric looks around, she notices the small swinging door that seems to be leading towards the kitchen, and she moves towards it, to have a look in there.

As Daryos steps forward, he knocks on the nearby barrels. The wood is solid and when he listens closely to the barrels he believes that the ones he can see all contain some amount of liquid. Being closer to the barrels he notices markings burned into the front of each barrel that indicates them as having either wine, ale, cider, or mead. Other slightly darker colored barrels are marked as well but unless you can read dwarvish you cannot tell what they say.
If you can read dwarven it says the following:
Dragons Fire - Dwarven Spirits in the left farthest barrel Jolly Dwarf (JD) - Dwarven Spirits in the right farthest barrel
Daryos:
As he starts to step forward with the torch, a slight shimmer catches his eye for a moment just before he was about to step upon what appeared to be a thin silvery thread. The thin thread is difficult to see and as you look more closely you notice more and more of these threads off in the dim light... seemingly coating every surface and forming a few tunnels through. You realize as you step even closer that you are looking into a massive cave-like web with the largest tunnel heading off towards the farthest corner of the room. More faint sounds of scratching and rustling can be heard as he moves forward into the room.
OOC: You may comment on the barrel but lets not talk about the discovery of the webs until I get more player perception checks and see who else is moving forward and who is going right or left. The next map update will show the webs.
Vesna makes her way to the swinging door to take a peak in the kitchen. When she places her hand on the swinging gate-like doors, they release a loud shrill squeak that reached every corner of the dark basement. After pushing past the door, it squeaks closed behind her.
Picture of the door if you are interested:
Vesna:
Once inside, the first thing you notice is a foul stench and buzzing sound coming from inside the water barrels against the wall on the right side of the room. To your left there is shelving containing various pots and ruined burlap bags. You can tell the bags had once held grain and cooking ingredients but now are shredded and full of rat droppings. Against the far wall there is a long set of countertops that wrap around to the left. built into the countertops you see two cast iron stoves that you believe could be removed although they would be quite heavy. You also see numerous pots and pans and knives hanging on the wall above the countertops. The countertops themselves are filthy. a few cockroaches scurry across them in the dark before dipping down and disappearing behind the cupboards underneath. Most of the cupboard doors are left hanging open with pots and pans spilling out into the room. Many of the cooking equipment you believe could be salvaged or sold if you wanted. In the center of the floor partially covered by pots and pans are the slightly scattered remains of a human woman. The skin and muscle has long been chewed away leaving only bone and bits of hair clinging to a tattered dress....
Kitaer is relying upon the torchlight. He can light his own if need be but for now is fine sticking close to Daryos and theirs. "Hold the torch a bit higher, eh?" Kitaer asks and indicates he is trying to get a look at the ceiling. Indeed, before the minotaur strays into the room he's trying to inspect the ceiling a bit and trying to reassure himself that it is sturdier than the roof was. All that weight is on the floor... What is the ceiling now. He'd hate for it to collapse down upon them.
Perception: 4-1 for a 3 - Kitaer is sure the ceiling down here is plenty solid!
As Daryos is inspecting the barrels and slowly moving forwards into the stifling darkness of the basement, Kitaer keeps his head looking upwards towards the ceiling. His high horns collect many cobwebs dangling from the heavy wooden beams as he makes his inspection.... the dancing light from the moving torch casts many moving shadows across the ceiling that make it difficult to get a good look at the wooden beams supporting the floor above.
Kitaer:
Oh yeah, the wooden rafters all look great... probably... maybe? You cannot really tell for sure.
Vesna's eyes carefully scan the kitchen, noting the different pots, pans and various utensils left behind. She recognises that a lot of this stuff could come in handy, either for potentially selling it somewhere, or simply washing and using it. The thought makes her wonder what they would do about the food, surely some of the supplies will need to be cooked, would anybody in the group know how to? A bit distracted, she continues looking around, surprisingly not flinching when she sees the cockroaches, perhaps she is getting used to all the vermin?
But then her gaze falls to the floor, glancing over what appears to be a heap of... bones? Both of her eyes immediately shoot up to the amulet, a loud gasp leaves her, and Vesna grips at her own hands, muttering a prayer for the deceased, as she steps back quickly towards the main basement area.
"There is a body in the kitchen..." she says quietly and with a grave expression, still clutching at her cloak with trembling hands. Being around the others calms her down a bit though, and she looks around the room, peeking from behind Kitaer and Daryos to see what they have found so far. (perception 19)

Glancing around, she doesn't immediately see any more rats, and looking off towards the direction where the rat ran, she struggles to see much off into the distance... it almost looks like sheets hanging in the darkness are preventing her from seeing much farther...
