(Sklin'oth starts across the middle of the bridge, followed by Quorthon and Sturm. Halfway across the plate, it shifts, drops, and a huge scythe drops down from the hole in the ceiling!)

(Sklin'oth manages to mostly dodge the blade, though it manages to nick him in the shoulder. The Scythe hits Quorthon pretty square in the torso, hurting him badly! Sturm tries to dodge as well but gets a slice on his forearm for his troubles. The blade swings back slowly, but at this point the damage is done. After a few moments, it slowly resets, the clicking of some sort of gear or wheel is heard, and the Scythe slowly returns to it's slot in the ceiling.
Quorthon lays unconscious with a big gash in his chest, slowly bleeding out. What do you all do?
DM's note: Quorthon takes full damage, 11. Since he has only 9 HP, he is now unconscious. Sturm and Sklin'oth take half damage (house rule is to round down, so 5).
Before the blade gets back into place ready to swing again I try to get Quorthon out of harm's way and help stabilizing him.
"Quorthon!" Sklin'oth screams ad the flames in his head erupt into a giant blaze.
Str roll (to pull) 12
Dex roll (to go there in time) 16
Med Roll (to stabilize) 21
(OOC: does the blade move in line with or paralel to the bridge? because if it moves parallel shouldn't I be the only taking damage since I was testing the grounds being in front?)
(Sklin'oth rushes to his fallen comrade, pulling Quorthon to safety. He quickly remembers the bandages that Rickard gave them, uses one with great skill and manages to stop the bleeding. Quorthon is stable but very weak.)
DMs note: The blade ran along the length of the entire bridge in a way that anyone on it would have been in danger. Sorry if the description did not convey that. Also, Quorthon has 1 HP because of the use of the bandage, so is at least conscious.
*Cough* Wisps of smoke come out at each spasm of breath.
"A healer would be really great right now... I'm afraid I'm not going to be much use in a fight after that. Let's carry on," he eeks out as he tries to stand. "Let's at least get off this cursed bridge. Not time to rest. Must find the girl..." He rambles and mumbles to himself as he waddles along the bridge.
DMs note: Sturm has a pool of 5 HP to heal. I'll need to clarify if he uses all 5 HP on Quorthon or only part of it.
(The decimated party carefully makes their way across the bridge. Once they get to the other side, they see a large stone door, similar to the one they just came thru. The door is slightly open. They peer carefully thru the slightly open door.)
Spoiler for Sturm:
As you peer inside, you see a large Bugbear, a kind of super Goblin, who may be the leader. He looks pretty tough, with thick furs and armor, and a giant Warhammer over his shoulder. Next to him, a regular Goblin in robes stands before a makeshift altar, chanting words that appear to be part of a ritual.

Next to him, a regular Goblin in robes stands before a makeshift altar, chanting words that appear to be part of a ritual. You adjust your angle and see that the makeshift altar is in front of a large statue that looks like the leader of the Delian Order, Sextus Varius. You adjust your angle again, and see that there is a bored patrol Goblin standing about on the right side of the room, not really paying much attention. As you make one final adjustment, you see that on the far left corner of the room, a small girl is squatting in a small cage, her dirty, tear-stained face covered in dirt and mucus. She sobs softly, as if she has been crying for hours and hours and is just about cried out.
"Don't stop", bellows out the Bugbear at the Shaman Goblin (in common), "we're so close. Soon, this place will become a proper temple for the Goblin God, and we will consecrate it... with the blood of the innocent! Nothing will stop us!"
The Bugbear lets out an evil laugh as the Shaman Goblin continues to chant and perform the ritual.
DM: Just to clarify, there are more than one patrol guards, correct? Your wording said they were talking among themselves... If so, exactly how many are there (not counting the Bugbear and the shaman)
Quorthon turns back and looks at the others. "I can use Bane again and try to weaken their attacks while you two ambush, or use Faerie Fire to give us Advantage each turn." I tell Sturm everything I saw, and put my hand on his shoulder as I smile and grant him Bardic Inspiration. "Thanks again. We are going to rely on you up front for this battle I think."
"After you attack, I'll use my breath weapon and trident and another spell at distance. I'll run in if I really have to. And I do hope I have to! So which spell should I do? Or do we have a better plan?"
Bardic Inspiration: For 10 minutes, the creature can add it to one ability check, attack roll, or saving throw. This can be added after seeing the roll, but before knowing the outcome.
