OOC Due to some complications with mold earth I forgot cast at the beginning of the battle.
I shall delete the damage and attack rolls above (Woulda tooken her down oh no) If she dashes only a single mimic to worry about a single attack. If she blocks that she is clear if she chooses to dash.
Thuribula blocks the final lunge as Fazil's slows the second one that almost takes her down! In unison the group manages to charge through and at a full sprint as well. Normally a chase would ensue but these creatures proved to be too slow to keep pace with the party.
Moving through the city quickly the come through the main gate where they had start.
It's still a few hours to Emberwood but they are outta the haze and outta Drakkenheim no more monsters out here.
The group makes their way back to Emberwood nary any trouble. They have the Delirium in hand and some battle wounds but they were all alive. More fortunate than most first trip into the city. Where had each of them planned to go first?
Although she lags behind the others, weighted down by Rikard's armor, Thuribula feels a burst of exhiliration as she realizes the horrible chests have fallen behind the group as they flee. The acid has eaten holes in her robes and burns against her skin where it fell, and the crushing injury of the thing's bite makes it hard to breathe---and it hurts a solid bit, too. When the party is able to slow down, she catches up, gasping less from exertion and more from the excruciating pain of her wounds.
It's a few more agonizing hours before they again reach Emberwood village, and yet never was the dilapidated and blighted little town a kinder sight. Thuribula closes her eyes in relief, grasping her holy symbol in one hand. O Sacred Flame, thank you for preserving us...how hellish Drakkenheim has become.Opening them again, she looks at her companions. "I... I think I must seek rest, and healing," she says, "and pay my gratitude to the Sacred Flame for protecting us in the ruins. I would like to go to Saint Ardenna's. Do you want me to meet you afterwards at a particular place or time? Any of you are, of course, welcome to come with me... Flamekeeper Hanna is very kind."
Relieved to be back in town, Maggwyn also feels the bite of the mimic, but does her best to hide it. She smiles at Thuribula as the woman invites her to Saint Ardennas. "I appreciate the invitation, buuut.. it's not really my kind of place. Shall we meet back up at that tavern you all were at yesterday? I wouldn't mind a drink after all that, but have a small errand to run first."
With a little bow to her friends, she spins on her heel and heads off to the East.
OOC Does Fazil have any guesses as to where to find River? He has left the Academy and the Academy has gone into hiding.
He could ask that Nathan fellow if he's at the bark and Buzzard for info. Or ask his party if anyone has an idea.
And Thuribula heads to Saint Ardenna with a fragment herself and anyone can go with her if they wish. (i almost added her heading to the church but I didn't wanna force her to the church if she was waiting for her parties response first)
And Maggwyn splits off and heads east and proposes they meet back at the Bark and Buzzard later ^^
Dabbert is glad to be out of the city. He has spent so much time quietly navigating the streets that he feels like he's barely had any input with his team mates. All he knows for sure is that he's glad everyone is okay.
When they return to the city, he takes his part of the booty and goes off with it on his own private quest, telling everyone he'll see them back at the Bark & Buzzard later that evening...
Once each party member is off on their way, Thuribula agrees to meet them later at the Bark and Buzzard, and still scoured with acid and holes burned into her robes, shoulders her pack and makes her way to Saint Ardenna's. She looks up with relief at the stone chapel and, nodding to anyone she might recognize on the way or outside, she pushes the door open to go inside. O Holy Light, thank you for bringing me back here safely... with just one contaminated rock to lay before those who can help me in my quest to find a way to stop this plague...
Thuribula makes her way inside, Arthur Ophelia and Dante appear to be getting ready to head out somewhere. Ophelia looks over and smiles.
"Ahh did you go get a fragment? Oh gosh you look terrible! Are you okay?" Dante watches quietly as Arthur rushes over
"Oh man! You kick some butt at least? I hope you were able to get some good fighting in! I would have loved to see it!!"
OOC Fazil can roll investigation and try to collect rumors. Which tavern or place? Or a general around the village? If he's generally looking it may not be as effective but he can certainly try.
But he can ask around in his investigation roll. But if no one in mind just asking random people around?
Everyone gets 1 fragment and 5 chips with 1 fragment left over
Thuribula smiles in relief at seeing Ophelia, Arthur, and Dante. "Oh, it was a bit of a meat grinder. I didn't fare too poorly being beaten on by a mob of haze husks, and a little blessing of the Light put them well to rest... but on the way back one of my companions stumbled into a chest with teeth and burning acid, and I took a worse wound standing between those monsters, and the others as they fled. Drakkenheim is not a place for the faint of heart, I think I have learned that well. But the Flame has preserved me against the assaults of evil..."
She reaches into her backpack and pulls out the fragment of delerium. "And, yes, I've gotten a fragment. It was hard won, but I'm ready, if you'll show me how to destroy it."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Arthur looks around as Ophelia lets out a light gasp. Dante finally speaking himself.
"You fought well it would seem though. You remain modest all the while."
Arthur puts a hand on Thuribula's shoulder as he still looks about.
Cure wounds.. Second level.

"So where's you're tiefling friend? She looks like she can fight! Actually I wanna meet you're whole party!"
"Arthur.. That can wait, Thuribula I am grateful for this test of faith and courage. It's a small thing.. a fragment but it shows me you truly do not care for the money these things bring. I think you are ready for two things.. To take you're oath here at the church.. And an important holy mission. There is.. a staff of Saint Brenna, she was said to be a Saint alongside Virtusio. There is a Church of Saint Brenna's, Tarna's statue should be at the site as well. This staff.. is rather powerful. I would suggest you rest tonight and gain power from you're oath. I should warn you... That thieves and the cult of the Falling Flame are both after this staff."

(OOC: To the tavern, the one he stayed with the party.)
Ironically in line with Dante's comment about her modesty, as Arthur puts a hand on her shoulder, Thuribula's first instinct is to move away, but then she feels the Divine radiance flowing into her, closing the bite wounds and knitting together the acid-ravaged flesh. Energy and vigor pours back into her limbs, and she looks honestly startled. How different it feels, and so quickly. I'm used to battle wounds taking good weeks to heal up. She remembers being out in the ruins, seeing Fazil drop to the ground, and how, knowing somehow that the Flame would answer her gesture, she had laid her hand on him too, and his wounds had healed similarly. But now she knows what it feels like.
She musters to overcome her surprise and spontaneous enjoyment of her newfound health, and bows her head in gratitude. "May the Flame bless you, Arthur, thank you. I feel... well, nearly like new." Thuribula smiles ironically. "I wish my robes could say the same, I will have a little mending to do tonight, I think. But that is a far easier task than knitting flesh and bone." She looks thoughtful, at Arthur's request to meet her party. "Oh, Maggwyn? She does seem quite talented, though I can't quite discern what motivates her. Of course I would like you to meet them all... and them you."
As Ophelia speaks, Thuribula listens, holding the fragment in her gloved hand. "A great relic... no, certainly the heretics must not get their hands on it." She frowns, thinking of the terrible scourge of Lucretia's teachings that have turned so many minds and hearts from the truth. "Saint Brenna, pray for us. I would be honored to accept this mission. And..." Well, she has been training to take her oath as a paladin, and this, her first long foray into the world outside of Elyria, has met its culmination slammed brutally down into the horror of the ruins... and she survived, and protected others, as well. Thuribula straightens up. "I am prepared to live up to my vows."
She holds up the delerium fragment, gingerly as if it were as repulsive as a dead rat. "But first... how shall I destroy this?"
Fazil heads to the Bark and Buzzard tavern, a mechancial scarecrow stops him a moment punching the air.
"Let's fight ya cur! Let us do honorable battle!" On his body words etched "ol Rattlecan." Despite it's taunts like before it does not throw a punch but merely offers a bout. Fazil looks and even ask around but if finding a magical academy that stays hidden was as easy as that.. They wouldn't remain hidden long. He again see's Nathan Willowdrake with his party, he may have a better idea where River was.
Meanwhile..
Arthur feels her jolt after the light shines the childish knight pulls his hand away.
"Did I scare you? I didn't think I used a strong hand. Ophelia warned me girls can be more skittish.. But I always thought paladins and knights were an exception?"
Ophelia lets out a soft sigh, she only smiled shaking her head it was clear she saw Arthur as harmless. Arthur grinned happily As Thuribula's energy rose and her spark returned.
"Maybe ya just jumped cause you were hurt! Well now you're ready and full of spunk again!"
Arthur blinks as Thuribula gives him such a formal thank you. He grins placing his hands behind his head flashing a wide grin.
"Bah, you're so fancy! It's no problem really!"
Ophelia places a hand on Thuribula's wounds it takes many cast but she uses Mending to patch it up.. As best she can anyway.
"It's the least I can do, you have.. a vow of poverty yes? I think I can convince Hanna to let you stay the night. You aren't an official Silver Order member. Though you are an Elyrian paladin.. Which to most is already Silver Order as we are the same. Hanna doesn't want to get involved in the "holy" conflict. That being said I'm sure I can convince her at least tonight we'll think of something else for you tomorrow."
Dante gives a nod as Thuribula speaks upon her party and Arthur's eyes light up. Ophelia adds.
"Arthur I'd be careful, due to what Tieflings go through around here they aren't trusting of holy orders. If you come off that friendly she may think you trying to do harm, and may react by getting you first or robbing you if she deems you're simply trouble.
Arthur pouts crossing his arms
"But she smiled and waved at me before, I think she's nice. I wanna meet them all!"
"You aren't sure what motivates her Thuribula? I see, well do always be careful where you can but we would be honored to meet you're allies who aided you in the ruins. As for the fragment in you're hand. I can destroy it with a bit of radiance, it's the safest way to dispose of them."
Ophelia nods and Dante even as well when the promise to keep them out of Falling Fire hands comes out. Dante adds.
"The Queen's Men are after it as well, the Falling Fire hasn't fallen so low as to be actively working with the thieves. That being said you'll have both groups to contend with. Inform you're group that each of you will be paid 250 gold. Except for you Thuribula, with you're oath of poverty we will instead grant you a new blade."
Ophelia adds as Thuribula ask of the fragment and promises to hold her oath.
"One moment.."
With a cast of sacred flame (a few really) she burns the fragment away harmlessly and smiles at Thuribula as she gestures to the Altar.
"Now.. it's time for you're oath. I hope you've given it some thought."
OOC And we can PM about what oath you think fits Thuribula best and such ^^
Thuribula smiles wearily at Arthur--it hardly seems constructive to try to explain--and sits down gratefully to let Ophelia mend her robes. It's certainly quicker than a needle and thread; though it doesn't remove the acid stains, it closes the tears and holes. Goodness, between the mage and Ophelia, I shan't need to launder, iron, nor sew ever again...she smiles a little, shaking her head. Such tasks are good for humility, as they are certainly servants' work, and she doesn't begrudge them.
"Thank you, Ophelia. Yes, I've taken the vow of poverty... and I would be grateful if Hannah would allow me to spend the night, then I would not need to impose on the others to provide me a room at the inn... I have heard that not all Flamekeepers take the vow of poverty in Westemar, but in Elyria, we usually do, we have the Church to support us. I've always felt it was a fitting offering to make to the Flame, a constant reminder that none of us is independent of what the Flame provides."
"Oh, I would love for my party to meet all of you. Of course I'll need their help to go back to the ruins to fetch that staff. I arranged to meet them later at the Bark and Buzzard, and will give them your generous offer... I do hope they'll wish to help. There is a certain closeness I feel with them after we all nearly died together, and saved one another's lives. I would have gone under that group of haze husks if Dabbert had not shown up in the nick of time, and without Fazil and Maggwyn picking them off..." She shudders a bit at the thought, and then gets up to watch, mesmerized, as Ophelia burns away the delerium fragment with radiance. Unconsciously she grasps her holy symbol. Such Divine radiance as that... just at command... oh, I could have used it well to protect us from those haze husks in the ruins... perhaps the Flame will grant it to me.
The paladin nods slowly. Her foray into the ruins was sobering, her tense observation of the poor morals and strange surroundings that preceded it seeming to have melted away to a clear and raw reality. There is good and there is evil, yet by means I had not thought, one may draw the good out of the darkest places."Yes... I am ready." Stepping forward, she kneels before the braziar and the altar. "Saint Tarna, and Saint Ardenna... and Saint Brenna... pray for me."
