Sakomoto opened the door as to reveal a man on a desk with. Gruff but one could tell he was still young late teens or early twenties it seemed life out here had been hard on the young man. The man looks up and gives a light smile.
"Dabberts party yes? It was my men who took him for a conversation. I'm Ansom Lang and sorry I borrowed him a moment from you but he's a rare man I can trust."
He takes a breath as Sakomoto looks around carefully. There was a look of.. Desperation on Ansom Lang's face.
I need you're help.. I was going to ask Dabbert but you know him yes? There was a survey mission at the Rat's nest it went.. South I underestimated them. Got contaminated and.. They took my sister. Amongst the Hooded Lanterns, our survival doctrine says we don’t risk lives on ‘futile’ rescue attempts. We all knew the dangers when we signed up, but she’s.... my sister.”
The man held his head low she could see in his eyes a course and independent man who had never asked others for help and if he weren't sick from Delirium and if others hadn't counted on him. He'd recklessly go again.. alone if he had to. He gripped his hands together it was clear asking others for help wasn't a past time of his by how he was reacting.
"Yes, Dabbert's party." Thuribula smiles. "He is indeed a man of great strength, resolve, and rare worth. I am Flamekeeper Thuribula, and it is my honor to make your acquaintance, Captain Lang." Listening to his tale, she says softly, "I will relay your message to him, and I think he would be honored to assist. But tell me... is this truly futile? Would we have any hope of rescuing your sister?"
Ansom clenches his fist at the questions at the end looking to Thuribula.
"I'd warrant a try and I'd be willing to pay outta my pocket. She's my sister, I can throw up logistics and say it's worth not even trying. Until I hear the place is searched and she's no where to be found or worse. I must hold onto hope that she's alive. She's.. Some of the only family I've got left. I know this is selfish.. That's why I know I'll pay with my own coin and also why I couldn't send the Hooded Lanterns to do so." Dabbert seems course and rough.. But if he's anything like the stories from father have taught me.. He's a good man that will feel the same.. At least.. I hope so."
Thuribula looks at the Captain, torn for a moment between sympathy and practicality. But her Flamekeeper's training and desire for compassion wins out. "From what I know of Dabbert, I think that he will. I will take your message back to him and our party. I would make this our urgent task... for whatever we may find could worsen the longer we wait. But we are all worn thin, we have just come back from the ruins tonight. We all need to rest before we could venture back out, or we would be no help to your sister. If you can find no one else tonight, I would like to think we could go to search for her at first light...if that is amenable to you, Captain Lang... I think it is the best we would be able to offer."
"First light is better than what I had before this talk. Thank you... this means a lot to me. I am grateful for this and tell Dabbert.. Thank you as well. Don't tell the other Lanterns about this.
With a nod he looks to Sakomoto as he clears his throat opening the door for Thuribula.
"I am grateful for the aid Thuribula. It seems my opinion on the church of Elyria was wrong.
Thuribula could tell at this close that Sakomoto could not or would not make eye contact with Thuribula but Ansom had and seemed more than grateful.
Thuribula nods. "I will tell Dabbert, and the others, and I hope we will set out as soon as we may. May the Flame keep your sister safe until we arrive."She accompanies Sakomoto out of the office, and back down to the ground floor.
Bidding the strange fellow goodbye, as well as the other Lanterns, Thuribula heads back to the Bark and Buzzard to wait for her companions...
Sakomoto offers her a light bow and a look of gratitude despite the eye contact being avoided.
"Thank you."
With that Thuribula makes it her way back, Rattlecan (The metal scarecrow) is still looking for a fist fight! Fazil and Maggwyn (if they are still doing what we discussed) found their way back without any issues and see Thuribula as well!
OOC Dabbert's PC is the only one Idk where is at/heading but life has been really rough on the poor guy lately x.x
Thuribula returns to the Bark and Buzzard, and seeing Fazil and Maggwyn, approaches them. She looks around for Dabbert, but is disappointed that she doesn't see him. That man carries a heavy burden. He carries it well, but sometimes it takes him away. Nevertheless, she smiles as she approaches the other two.
"Fazil, Maggwyn! It's good to see you. I trust that your endeavors have gone well? The hour is late and we all need to rest, but I received two job offers. If you are keen for more work, I will tell you about them." Thuribula pulls a chair over to sit down with the other two. "The Silver Order needs a relic retrieved from the city, and they offered us 250 gold pieces each to retrieve it. And... Captain Ansom Lang of the Hooded Lanterns has a..." she hesitates for a moment, but then continues on, "more urgent and desperate request. His sister was captured in a place called the Rat's Nest Tavern, and he is unable to return there to try to retrieve her, himself. It seems the Hooded Lanterns think the rescue attempt futile. He knows Dabbert, and he thought that he would appeal to Dabbert's friendship to go and try to rescue his sister. I don't see Dabbert now... and Captain Lang did not give me a price... but I think he would compensate you well. I am not one to turn down such a desperate request for my help... but I know I would be useless alone out there. I told him that the earliest we could reasonably set out would be first light tomorrow morning... what do you think?"
Fazil slowly takes a sip of his ale and then looks at Maggwyn before looking at Thurbiula. "Funny enough, Maggwyn and I were hired to check out Rat's Nest Tavern..." He glances around the place. "I'll tell you about it later, and yeah, I'd gladly take on both jobs. More funds for us. I have no idea about Maggwyn if she wants to take on both jobs with the one we're taking as well. Oh, speaking of which. If you do join us, here is the advanced payment for you in case you decide to join us." He places a Potion of Healing in front of Thurbiula. "As for Dabbert... I guess we will see if he appears tomorrow morning."
Thuribula smiles. "Well, if you have already planned to go to the Rat's Nest Tavern... I will certainly accompany you, and try to find Captain Lang's sister."She looks at the Potion of Healing for a long moment. "Keep it for me. I would rather offer my help to you, and do this favor for Captain Lang, and humbly ask your help afterwards to retrieve the scepter."
The paladin sits down at the table with the two. "I will retire at Saint Ardenna's tonight, but where shall I meet you in the morning for the job, and when? Here? Before dawn?"
As they discuss and Rattlecan looks for a foe to battle. They can see Auron as well as Nathan in here but the entire party. (No Flint/Charlotte/Rex)
Entering the establishment is a man with a scar, refined facial hair. With his blade and shield he appears to be some sorta adventurer.
Karin greets him while also going to take his order as well. She than walks over to Constance and Fazil as well as Maggwyn (As long as Maggwyn headed here with Fazil.) Rattlecan approaches the new stranger with his usual proposition of having a heart pounding battle.
"Here, and before dawn, after we get something to eat real quick before we go." Fazil cracked his neck, then got up. "I'll see you in the morning." He goes to his room to sleep for the night after he said his farewell to everyone.
Thuribula spots Auron and Nathan, and she waves to them with a smile. She glances at the well-groomed adventurer with the scar, and if he makes eye contact she nods a greeting to him as well, not familiar as she was to the Caspians, but cordially welcoming. To Karin she says, "Nothing for me m'lady, I will retire to Saint Ardenna's tonight."
As the group disperses, Thuribula wishes them a good night and gets up as well and goes to leave the Bark and Buzzard and head back to Saint Ardenna's.
Maggwyn does indeed come with Fazil and takes a seat, happy to see Thuribula and it shows on her countenance. "Yes, there is some delirium that Fazil and my new acquaintance is looking for." She then turns to Fazil, "Or have you known River for awhile? I just met her when we arrived in the city after we met."
The tiefling nods her head decidedly. "Yes, helping this man's sister is definitely first priority. We shall leave for Rat's Nest Tavern in the morning. And as for the potion... Thuribula, you should take it. What if one of us were to fall? You could use it on someone else that needs it, and it is good for us all to have that possibility, you know?" She scrunches up her nose, "Oh but wait, you have other means don't you? I guess it's up to you then. I have the one for Dabbert, when he decides to show his ugly mug around again. We should leave a note with Karin where we are so he can join up if he so desires."
As the stranger enters, she leans over to Karin, "Who is that guy? And yeah, I'll have whatever the chef's special is for the night, I'm starving."
The well groomed adventurer with a scar gives her a light wink, without any insight from Thuribula's part she can tell this man though he has a refined air to him also has a hint of flirtation to him. Though nowhere as nearly as direct as Flints was toward Maggwyn.
Karin looks to Maggwyn and smiles as she begins to write orders down. She looks to Maggwyn as she ask who the man is.
Leonard Cesar De La...Baumb.. Ehh.. His full name is hard for me to remember but Leonard is his name. He claims to travel with a party but I've yet to see them ya know? I would have taken that boy for a noble not some adventurer! I mean.. No offense but he looks like he comes from money ya know? That being said I respect ya rough and tumble types!"
OOC Food is 1 gold for a person and 2 silver for a drink. They can ignore being hungry for con modifer+1 days but eating I'll grant a D12 inspiration ^^
Thuribula smiles. "If nothing else presents itself before morning, I will carry the healing potion tomorrow on our way to the Rat's Nest Tavern, just in case. It's good to have a backup. Now I bid you goodnight, my friends... I will see you here tomorrow morning before dawn."
The paladin returns to Saint Ardenna's for the night. If Ophelia Reed or the Silver Order paladins are still there, she updates them about Captain Lang's request and her group's early morning quest to the Rat's Nest Tavern to try to rescue his sister, and how she considers this a good deed asked for... with the Sceptre next on her list as soon as Captain Lang's sister is safely secured.
At the break of dawn, Fazil finished his hearty breakfast, the warm scent of freshly baked bread and sizzling meats still lingering in the air. As he prepared to leave, he casually placed a gold piece and two silver coins on the wooden table to settle his bill. The weight of the coins made a soft clink as they met the surface, catching the innkeeper’s eye. With a satisfied nod, Fazil adjusted his belt and gathered his belongings, ready to set off for the day's work with his companions. The cool morning breeze greeted him as he stepped outside, signaling the start of another busy day.
Thuribula relays her message and sleeps long and hard at Saint Ardenna's. And if Flamekeeper Hanna offered her anything like a meal, she would gratefully accept. Up bright and early, she walks back to the Bark and Buzzard after completing her prayers and attending the dawn rite in the chapel.
The morning air is brisk as she spots Fazil and walks over to him. "Good morning," she says pleasantly. "Let us waste no time... a life may be at stake. If you'd like, I can carry that healing potion." She looks around for Maggwyn, or maybe, even Dabbert.
Karin the innkeeper was certainly grateful for Fazil's payment and rather used to the clink and shine of coins in the morn. Adventurers tend to eat before heading out after all.
Today did seem to have a breeze to it, but it also appeared a storm was settling over Emberwood today.
Thuribula was indeed offered a meal.
Fazil and Thuribula meet up soon enough now they only await their other two members.
OOC If Maggwyn comes I may continue and just bot Dabbert for now as I know he is very busy at the moment.
