Erix rips the Spear out of the Orc's hands, the tendrils sucking away from him. The Orc screams a piercing cry that seems to echo in all your minds and he opens his eyes again and starts holding out his hands toward the spear.

Orc DC 14 STR Save: 20

Mome, Snagger, and Jimjar make their ranged attacks against the Old Orc:

Shortbow against Old Orc Attack: 13 Damage: 5 Piercing

Hand Crossbow against Old Orc Attack: 21 Damage: 4 Piercing and 11 Poison

Dart against Old Orc Attack: 17 Damage: 4 Piercing and the Orc is Poisoned.

You all hear a slithering voice in your minds, one none of you have heard before. "Get to the Spear, show them the power of The Machine." The Orcs eyes dart to the Spear.

Ok, so this Orc is Poisoned and Stunned, meaning all he can do it move. He's going to try to run at Erix and make contact with the spear on his turn. He has the movement to do it, but Zoveldra, LANDMOP, and Erix' Snake can take Opportunity Attacks against him with Advantage. He has 16AC and 9hp left.

After failing to constrict the Snake immediately goes for the neck as the Orc Runs away, its instinct kicking in, killing the Old Orc before it can even get close to the spear.

To hit: 25 for 9hp

 ((It wasn't your turn yet, and you weren't in the list for a Attack Of Opportunity (for which you wouldnt be able to cast a leveled spell anyway:P); So I wouldn't use the spell slot. Especially as the attack of the snake was enough to kill the Old Orc already.))

LANDMOP will reach for the spear to try and take it

Since the team might be trying to take this one alive, Elero's going to hold off on the crossbow, and be ready in case it goes badly.  As a Bonus Action, the Protector Cannon gets within range of the grapplers and pulses out 10 temp HP of shielding to any who need it.

((Ooc - yes, Mome was targeting the Spear with the weird tendrils coming gout of it.  She is convinced nothing good can come from it.))

The Old Orc falls dead on his way to the Spear from the snake bite. Where is the Spear at the moment, does Erix actually hold it or it it lying on the ground?

 Thorn whip pulls something 10ft in Erix's direction, I guess a spear might get further; but don't think in his hands.

The Spear sits on the floor of the room. The black tendrils have returned back inside, and it now appears to be simply an ornate spear.

You also all get a good look around this Shrine now. The giant defaced statue stands on one side of the circle, while some stairs lead down on the other. Snagger spits on the bodies of the Derro and Quaggoth, "Damn bastards betrayed us so quick. Just goes to show the nature of those in the Underdark." He looks around, "Best be quick here, me and Jimjar will keep an eye out on the rest of the outpost." And the two go out to the rope bridge to act as sentries.

Are you going to investigate this area or do you plan to leave the outpost now?

LANDMOP also believes that the shadow tendrils was from the Old Orc, and not the spear itself
