As you head up the stairs, you also notice a door to the south of the stairwell you couldn't see before, it has a window through which you can see more artwork and a couple of large statues.
Up the top of the stairs is a small alcove with a small metal door that is very well sealed. You see a sign on the door that reads 'Kwanti's Retreat'. As you open the door, it opens up into a giant greenhouse filled with local and exotic plants from all over Khorvaire and beyond. As you enter the greenhouse, you hear footsteps approaching from a room to the northeast. There are a few exits to this greenhouse. The stairwell atrium to your east, a door heading back to the west which you assume must lead back out to the stairwell in the dining hall, and two doors to the north east and northwest, one of which you know there are people about to walk out of.
The footsteps sound like someone is about to walk out of the northeast room, what do you all do?
Do we think we can get into the northwest door before they come out?

Ok that new door was actually back down the stairs. As you head back down you hear the northeast door open and two female voices chating. "Yeah I think they're meeting over on the other end of the manor, some Dragonmarked custom of giving someone a key. They'll probably give it to the house that the event is for, Vadalis." The other woman asks, "And why did all the other people get here so early, I've had to start 3 hours before I was supposed to." The first woman responds, "I think all the others are just regular party guests, probably hoping to get the party started early. It's ok though, Vishtai said they've been told not to leave the rooms till we go and get them. The party doesn't start for another hour." You sneak out of earshot before you can hear the rest.

One of them is Alden Orien, the head of House Orien in Sharn, who you've met before. The other statue is of a very handsome woman with long curly hair, you've never seen her before.
There are two other exits to this room, to the west it meets back up with the ornate hallway you saw before. While to the east is a door that goes into a smaller hallway, less ornate and very well trod.

As you step toward the door past the statue of Alden Orien, it's fist comes down to slam at Elero, who I assume is at the front of the party. Too late, you realise that the statue is a Stone Defender construct:
Slam attack against Elero: Attack: 14 Damage: 10 and Elero is knocked Prone
You all are up. The Stone Defender is looking at you with impassive eyes, it's feet having not moved from the spot.
Elero's attack hits but he can tell the non-magical dagger does not chip the stone at all, while Mark's magical crossbow bolt does seem to hurt the construct. Kit will fire off an Eldritch Blast while Erix will cast Thorn Whip:
Thorn Whip against Stone Defender Attack: 8 Damage: 1 Piercing
Eldritch Blast against Stone Defender Attack: 13 Damage: 8 Force
Erix casts another Thorn whip before he casts healing word on Elero as he sees him going down.
Thron whip: to hit 8 for 6 damage
Healing: 8 healing for Elero.

Elero's first dagger is magical, so its damage should've counted.
Elero will rise to his feet, slightly in shock at his near-death, and use his action to create a Tiny Protector Eldritch Cannon behind him, so it's more than 5 feet away from the Stone Defender, and then use his bonus action to have the Protector grant 4 temporary HP to each member of the party, since I'm assuming we're all within 10 feet of the Cannon.
It'll look like a tiny collection of parts that, when set on the ground and activated, whirl and spin into the shape of a tiny metallic shield with legs.
“Eldritch blast!” Kit squeaks oddly before blinking his eyes a few times as if waking from a strange slumber, as though some patron had him drift idly in a dream space for a while. The other would notice kid had been quiet but he seems to have that twinkle back in his eye.
”you can take a hit, that’s for sure Elero!” Kit then remember what he was doing and casts that blast

Erix misses, while Kit and Mark's shots both hit. Parts have broken off the Stone Defender and it is looking pretty worn out now, however it keeps trying to bash at it's target:

As a bonus action, he'll have the Protector machine give4 temporary HP to him and anyone who lost theirs in the last round, which is basically just him.
(btw when getting new temp HP you can choose to get new one over one you have, so as it is higher everyone can take the 11)

Mark will pull back deftly and pull out his crossbow and will shoot making sure he is not seen by anyone else.
BA: disengaged if needed, and hide if I don't need to disengage
