I'll wait 24 hours for the votes to come in on whether to rest or attack.
Some considerations when resting,
1) Resting here still counts as spending time outside of a settlement in Barovia so it'll be subject to random encounter rolls. E.g. A short rest is 1 hour long so 2 rolls, 1 per half hour.
2) The hags may have changed their last known position in the windmill after a short rest.
Yeahhhh... Veronica's vote is to light the first floor on fire. She's confident that she can get in and out with the children as long as the hags are busy with something else.

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
"This would be the plan then, Veronica waits for the opportunity to rescue the children, while Skannon & I light the first floor on fire. I'll position myself where I can shoot anyone that attempts to exit from the door. We need to focus on one of the Hags. The death of one will break the Coven, and weaken the other two."
Garavon will quietly enter the building, opening any windows on the first floor (to create a draft) and move the cart and barrel to block the stairs, and move any small combustible materials from the cabinet to set a fire at the bottom of the stairs
Garavon quietly repositioned the cart and barrel of rancid oil to form an impromptu obstacle course blocking the stairs. Opening the cabinet revealed flour and other baking supplies, which he arranged into a pile to form some tinder and kindling. The grinding of the millstone and thumping footsteps of the hag on the second floor drowned out any sound he may have made.
Up on the third floor wall, Veronica stood ready to rescue the children. The two other hags were still inside, cackling and telling bad jokes to each other.
Skanon hung about outside the doorway, firebolt in hand, ready to retreat to a distance with Garavon.
Ismark was in the nearby tree line with Ireena, his heavy crossbow pointed directly at the doorway. Ireena was without a ranged weapon and followed her brother closely.
{DM Note: Giving a bit of time to Vicky to decide what she’d like to do before commencing the arson.}
Vicky is in agreement with the party, and casts produce flame, ready to start the flames process.

Look at it! Beauty! A spoiler!
Look what you've done, spoiling it for you and everyone who can see this screen. You're a disgrace, you know that, right? You have nothing to be ashamed of but yourself, you moster!
But to be completely fair, every monster has a cute side, like have you seen people draw goblins? Goblins look so cool! You're fine, you may seem like a monster, but I bet you're cute on the inside!
Skanon and Vicky hurled their motes of flame into the ground floor of the windmill and retreated from the windmill entrance. The fire caught quickly on the pile of kindling and an angry orange glow could soon be seen from the open ground floor windows.
Outside the third floor, Veronica heard from within, the hag on the second floor screaming, “Bella! Offalia! Get down here! Fire! Fire!”
The two hags on the third floor immediately sprung into action, clambering over each other to race down the stairs. Veronica took the opportunity to dash into the room and unlatch the three crates. One of them was empty, but the other two each held one child, a boy and a girl. They shrank to the back of their tiny prisons as Veronica opened them, wide-eyed and tearful.
Sounds of frantic firefighting echoed from down below, it was apparent that the hags lacked a source of water with which to douse the flames and were reduced to beating the fire with their clothes in an attempt to smother it.
“This is all your fault, mother!” screeched one of the younger hags.
“You and your stupid oven from your stupid pastry plot,” said her sister.
“Silence you dimwits, I didn’t block the stairs with my cart and barrel! Someone set us up!” The eldest hag replied, her voice laced with cold anger.
{DM Note: Getting past obstructions to firefight by the hags, DC 15 acrobatics check. Failing gives disadvantage on firefighting attempts.
{DM Note: Hag's firefighting average roll = 14.667, they JUST missed it.}
One of the hags fell over the obstacles and bumping sounds like a sack of potatoes rolling down the stairs were met with, “Offalia you idiot! Get up and help us…”
A dull roar blasted the interior of the windmill and shook the whole structure as the barrel of rancid oil finally lit up. The children in the crates on the third floor blubbered in fear at the new tremors as the screams of rage and pain from the three hags sliced through the morning mist like a jagged blade. It would only be a few short moments before the hags tried to escape…
{DM Note: What do the characters do? Garavon, Skanon, and Vicky are outside on the ground floor. Veronica is on the third floor with the 2 children who are hiding in the back of their crates.}
Veronica will try to calm the children down enough to let her carry them out of this horrible place...
"Children... I'm here to help... but we don't have much time, those witches could be back soon! Both of you grab onto me, and close your eyes, I'll take care of you!"
Persuasion: 16 (in game log)
(Also note that Veronica can walk up and down vertical surfaces while leaving her hand free, so assuming these are small children she should be able to carry one in each arm without issue and then just walk down the wall)
Realizing Veronica was not one of the hags in disguise, the children crawled out of their crates and clung on tightly to her like two little baby koalas. They were between 5 and 10 years old and weighed a combined 100 pounds. However, Veronica was strong enough to carry both of them without trouble (still within encumbrance limits). She ducked through the window and ran down the side of the windmill at speed.
Garavon let loose a bursting arrow into the inferno. Though it did not hit any hags (13 did not meet hag AC), it exploded within the narrow confines of the windmill’s ground floor with a shattering boom. The hags renewed their animal screaming and spilled from the doorway, their clothes burned away to reveal sagging purple skin clinging onto the skeletal frames of their true forms. Horned heads and vicious claws completed their vile visage.
Although the fire was damaging, it was insufficient to kill them outright (they have fire resistance). The eldest amongst the three looked the least hurt (has the most remaining hp), while the smoking forms of the other two hags looked equally burned. The eldest also had a pouch made from stitched skin suspended with a leather thong from one of its wrists and it held onto a fist-sized black gem protectively with the same clawed hand.
Ismark looked ready to fire with his heavy crossbow.
A new flickering orange glow from the second floor windows and thick black smoke spewing from the roof of the windmill were signs that the fire had spread.
{DM Note: We are in a surprise round in the party’s favor. Veronica rescued the children while Garavon did some additional damage to all three hags and “encouraged” them out into the open. I’ll wait a bit for Skanon and Vicky to write what they would like to do for their surprise round before rolling initiative. Ismark will shoot at the first thing the party targets for his surprise round.
If you would like to roll your own initiative, please do it now :)}
OoC: Do we want to wait and rest or attack now?

I'll put Skanon's vote as..."ATTACK!...but I'll be the follow-up."
Which is really healthy behaviour for a squishy wizard 😂.
