Hey, It's me, RaccoonMaster! I'm back! I disappeared for a while there, and I'm very sporadic when I'm online lol.
I'm an actor, writer, singer (opera, musical theatre, and rock are my preferred genres), backpacker, and tall person (6'5 and counting). Pronouns are whatever, I mostly use They/Them though.
My Characters: Elsenia Selevarum:The Popular Paladin, Aasimar Noble, Level 4 Paladin of Redemption;
(Arcana check nat 20. You probably won't allow Ember to do this, but running it by you. Already suspicious because literally everyone has been attacking us, she sees the man & guards begin to transform and the man start sucking the life out of the guards. Ember uses the Arcana check to try & figure out what's happening, ie, life drain, early enough to act. If she figures what's going on, she wants to cast "Wither & Bloom" in the middle of this to absorb life force from the Man & guards before the latter die. To damage them all if possible & weaken man by stealing life force from the guards before he can. And "Wither" doesn't say you can't use it on undead)
Dark necrotic energy explodes, stealing the crimson mist, which begins to flow into Ember's orifices. Necrotic Damage: 8. Roll to regain HP (one of your hit die + your charisma modifier)
Guard #1's CON save: 3
Guard #2's CON save: 14
Grey Man's Con Save: 5
Artan, take a stab at it!

Artan being correct, reacts quickly. His body becomes luminous; his joints glimmer like stars, and glowing lines connect them as on a star chart. This form sheds bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet. The lines connect to a form of a wise dragon. (When you make an Intelligence or a Wisdom check or a Constitution saving throw to maintain concentration on a spell, you can treat a roll of 9 or lower on the d20 as a 10.) "Why the games? This is the third time you have seen us. Or is there many of you grey men?" and he casts moonbeam at 3rd level centred on the grey man. Assuming he is a shapechanger rather than using magic, his save will be at disadvantage. DC16 con save. 9 damage (3d10 with 2 1s....) on a fail, half on a success (and reverts to true form and can't shapechange while in the light on a fail). He moves to the edge of the room, watching the hooded figure at the same time.
Movement: To edge of room Action: Moonbeam Bonus action: Starry Form (dragon)
The Grey Man is a shape-shifter, but this is his true form.
The Grey Man snarls, assaulted by the magic which fills the room. "I am one of many, and yet a singular thing, unlike all of YOU!" With that, he lunges forward, claws outstretched, and swipes with one of his claws. In the other hand, he summons a vicious hook made of crystalized blood, which he swings wildly.
Claw attack VS. Artan: 11 to hit, 7 Slashing, and you are grappled.
With a bestial howl, he digs his fangs into Artan's neck,
Bite attack VS. Artan: 24 to hit, 4 Piercing plus 3 Necrotic. Make a DC 14 Charisma Save or:
You are charmed by the vampire, and are infatuated with it. Feel free to role-play that however you want, whether you turn on your companions or simply stare in adoration or heal the vampires wound or whatever you feel would be appropriate.
Ember, then Emilia

The Grey Man is a shape-shifter, but this is his true form.
(as I suspected. It is why I selected that spell as shape-shifters get disadvantage on the save)
Also: When a creature enters the spell’s area for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there, it is engulfed in ghostly flames that cause searing pain, and it must make a Constitution saving throw. It takes 2d10 radiant damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Is that, on my turn it entered it for the first time. And then start of its turn would take a further 12 damage (subject to save)? Also, Artan is looking quite injured from that bite. And a bit glazed over, though still alert.
Emilia claps her hands together, mumbling a prayer as a crackling stream of bright white force forms between her hand in the form of a crudely shaped spear. Levitating it off of the ground, she flings it right at the Grey Man in an attempt to puncture him. "Demon!"
Emilia casts spiritual weapon, then moves it towards the Grey Man with her bonus action and making a melee spell attack.

As Artan's moon-lite fire pours down in a radiant torrent upon the foul being, Ember sends forth draining energy, which explodes in a roiling mass, drawing forth life force. Sadly, this time the spell does not seem as effective, as the Grey Man resists part of the effect. Emilia sends forth a blade of justice, intent on slaying the dark creature, which strikes true, piercing into the monsters leg.

Reading the spell it seems like it will. That is unrelated to the damage side of it (the magic is both life and death, it isn't lifestealing). In that case, if I understand it right, I spend one of my hit dice to regain health, with your spellcasting modifier rather than my con modifier? (This is the first time I have seen this spell ever so I am just checking)
Yup, that would be correct. So as a druid, Artan would regain 1d8 (his hit die size) + 3 (Ember's spell-casting ability modifier [charisma])
Beshlog, time to slay the beast!

Con save DC16 or 9 radiant damage, half on success (sorry). And as it is a 5ft radius (not diameter) it is possibly catching other people in it too as collateral (Raccoon to confirm if so). Positioned to not hit the amazing man who really means no harm whatsoever, but anyone else (Artan included) is fair game.
