The Inn lumbers on for a minute before it slows and stops, settling down on its many legs. The staircase now reaching just a foot from the mud. Its odd in that, you don't remember the staircase stretching or adding any steps, but it clearly didn't reach this far before. The door of the inn opens and a creature that looks like a minotaur--but instead of an anthropomorphic bull it's an anthropomorphic elk--steps out the door. His massive antlers easily clearing the doorframe though the door didn't seem that big a moment ago. He is looking back into the inn as he steps out while pulling a cloak over his back.
His rumbling voice is so deep it almost seems to vibrate in your ears. "Thank you again for the tea, my friend. May you find safe trails until we meet again."
He turns and sees the three of you. He gives a slight nod of his head before calling back into the inn. "It looks like you have new visitors, Tsu." He nods at you as he descends the stone stairs. "Peace, friends."
The elk-man shrugs at Trills words as he plods off into the mist.
At the top of the stairs, the thick wooden door opens into a common room that wouldn't stick out in any mortal realm, except for the clientele. A large open room houses three long tables and bar that takes up a good third of the room, behind which an elderly human woman stands cleaning a few clay mugs. A set of wooden support beams hold up the second floor while also serving to split the room between stone-floored drinking area and a wooden-floored area that could be cleared for dancing, but currently holds three arm chairs in front of a large stone hearth. A bright orange fox is currently curled up dozing in one of the chairs along with a raven that is reading a book resting on a side table, nearby what looks like a gnome, but with bright green skin and hair is seated on a stool near the bar. Finally, in the corner where the stairs lead up to the second floor, a blue-skinned goblin with insect wings is pulling on a pair of boots.
The human woman looks up at Gerien's words, her voice is warm and welcoming, "Please come in! We haven't had many newcomers for some time. Seat yourself wherever, I'll be with you a minute." You feel a slight lurch as the inn stands up and begins moving; however it's surprisingly stable inside once the inn is on the move again.
She looks over at the goblin, "Faern, be a dear and go wake up, Sparrow would you? We're heading easterly and I wouldn't want her trip to be any longer than it needs to be."
The goblin's voice is sandpaper rough, "Yes, Tsu," before they fly up the stairs.
Gerien nods in response to Trill's observation about the inn's direction of travel. The centaur intends to ask Tsu about current goings-on, particularly anything that might explain why Hither currently looks the way it does.
After a few moments the woman comes over to your table. You don't quite remember it being a high top table when you walked in, but the table sits high enough for Gerien to stand comfortably at the table without looming over the others.
The woman sets down a tray with three tea cups and a steaming tea pot all in matching pottery depicting the night sky. As she fills the tea pots with tea, the scene on the cups changes to a warm sunny day. "Welcome to the Inn at the End of the Road. My name is Tsu. There's beds if you're weary, stew is always available over the fire, and I've got some plum pie just about to come out of the oven."
In response to Tsu, Gerien replies, "Stew...pie...tea...ale...wine...if possible."
She looks the centaur up and down. "Well, aren't you a hungry and thirsty one," she says with a smile and a gentle pat on Gerien's arm. "It'll be just a minute then, Loves."
She heads into a room behind the bar--presumably the kitchen judging by the smells.
The inn continues toddling gently along, anyone looking out the window can see the fog continues rolling along the swamp water, which seems like it's rising slowly, almost like a tide. It's now at least 5 feet high, and sloshes softly like waves along the side of the inn as it tries along.
After a few minutes Tsu returns, carrying a large tray. She sets it down on a nearby table and hands over individual plates before setting down a purple plum pie, complete with finely carved wooden utensils that are as durable as steel. She offers a mug of ale and a bowl of stew to Gerien.
As she does so, she talks throughout, "It's a shame about the weather, but it's been like this for some time. Careful if you have to leave while the water's up, you'll have to swim or use a raft. I don't think I've seen you here before? Did you get stuck here recently? Walk through some portal or other?"
Trill will happily dish herself some plum pie before abandoning utensils but delicately grasping food from her plate with her beak and tossing her head back to swallow.
"F%$^ing delicious, marm! Top notch tucker, this!", she opines in a raspy, guttural voice.

"Good food and drink is one of life's finest gifts," muses Gerien aloud as he happily begins his meal. After a few bites, he nods his head in agreement with Trill, "Top notch indeed."
Giving a somewhat guarded response to Tsu, he replies, "Thanks for the word of warning about the water, ma'am. I wouldn't say that we're stuck. We are here by design actually, hoping to touch base with an acquaintance of sorts. I am a bit surprised by the look of things around here, however. The causeway seems to have fallen in to disrepair, and, as for the land...it's rather more swampy than it once was, yes?"
He then washes down some stew with a massive gulp of ale.

She hesitates a moment, weighing her words, as though not sure how much to trust three strangers who've just entered her inn.
"Hmmm... by design you say? Are you servants of the Hourglass coven then? I imagine if you belonged to Bavlorna you'd know about the o'wells and the swamp, but maybe you belong to one of the other two? Hmmm?" Insightful characters will get the feeling that this seems like a test of some sort.
Trill cocks her head at the strange sight. "Stew.", she says, bobbing her head up and down.
