After some time has passed, Korbiña yawns and stretches... although she's bruised and scratched, she feels in good contion to continue to whatever this strange ... forest has what was indicated as place of safety...
She looks around seeing Asher sitting by his fire and Quartz... and Lelantus... she gets dressed again and rolls up her things before walking over to Asher, sitting down next to him. She takes out her mess kit and a ration pack, filling the pot part of thd kit with water and some dried vegetables from the ration to cook up a simple, but warm soup.
Quartz, feeling the effects if the strain exoeri3nced earlier fade slightly, begins to ponder the mystery of the words not yet illuminated. He walks over to the alter again, finding they remain dim. Calling upon the subtle gifts of the firbolg, he casts detect magic.

As Korbiña hands Asher a hot bowl from beyond the confines of the pink haze, he fails to notice the smoke itself sticking to the surface of the hot liquid. On his first sip, the same warmth that enveloped the others immediately washes over him as well. It's an almost sensual heat. It's not unwelcome to his various aches, but he quickly realizes his quarantine has failed.
Again, this is not entirely bad. The heat pouring through his flesh seems to dull his aches, all without dulling his mind.

With everyone now under the influence of this strange phenomenon, something stranger the takes place.
The lights go out. The fires, the pyre, the ambient light of the mist. It all disappears. All but a strong light above: a crescent moon hangs high in the sky, large and bold. The sky... there's a sky. Black as night, but it's there.
And where before there was only dead silence, Quartz now hears a symphony of crickets all around.
"Sounds like dessert just arrived." Quartz declares, hearing the chirps of tasty morsels in the surrounding woods.
"Oh, and the sky's cleared up. You know, this might be a good time to see if my owl friend can take a look around for any signs we might want to know about. Any other encampment we might want to avoid, or so."
With that he summons a fey creature in the form of an owl and explains his request.
"... so just let us know if you see anything, please. Got it?"
It doesn't take the owl long to report a small village not far from the road they were already on. Even as he learns this, Quartz, Korbiña, and Lelantus all hear the distant chime of a chapel's bell toll. It then tells him something strange. This gives him pause.
"Thaux was gone when the battle was over... carried away by many small feet in a jumble that was hard, but also dangerous to follow in our condition. So we went the way we intended to to find the 'safe place, and got this far...
So Quartz, you were saying there's indeed a village nearby? That would be fsntastic."
She begins to grab all of her stuff to put it into her backback.
Quartz looks to Korbiña "You hear it, yes? The bells in the distance. The village is near. We should get there quickly. I dont know what those bells mean. Maybe its just a bell.soi ding on the hour, or maybe it signals the start of something. Either way, I think we'd better set off quickly."
Looking at their reanimated ally, Quartz ponders "What do you think we should do about our less-than-alive comrade?" He wo herself aloud.
"I believe he doesn't smell worse than any of us after what we've been through... I'm not a disguise expert, but to me he passes as a bit sick arojnd the nose, especially given his lethargy..."
Korbiña shrugs "...but that's just my opinion. Please lead thd way... I'm not good at navigating by sound."

"Would you like some soup, Asher?"
Someone else begins to stir as well...
The halfling sits up, adjusting his shirt, wiping drool from his face, and wincing from his back wound.
Quartz, feeling the effects if the strain exoeri3nced earlier fade slightly, begins to ponder the mystery of the words not yet illuminated. He walks over to the alter again, finding they remain dim. Calling upon the subtle gifts of the firbolg, he casts detect magic.

Korbiña looks around "soup anyone?"
Groggily Lelantus accepts the soup. " Ughhhhhh... What happened?"

"Whoa how long have I been out? Where are we? WHERES THAUX?!?!
Korbiña slurps the last temnants of her soup...

Lelantus is now entirely focused on finding the only friend he's had since HER. His only goal is to save thaux and kill the bastards who took him.
Korbiña gets ready and waits for Quartz to lead the way.
