Current Character(s): Marcon Domine level 2 monk in Lost Mine of Phandelver
Current Campaigns: Icewind Dale: Rime Of the Frostmaiden, Princes of the Apocalypse
Four things I hate in D&D: People who think the tarasque is the most powerful (an empyrean or kraken can beat it), players trying to seduce bad guys (it's funny though), when a monster roles a NAT 20 (everyone hates that), rolling a NAT 1 (everyone hates that)
3x leather armor, 30 gp 3x shield, 30 gp 3x scimitar, 75 gp 3x shortbow, 75 gp 30x arrows, -- total 210 gp / sell back 105 gp each 17 gp, 5 sp ----
Just inside the cave mouth, a few uneven stone steps lead up to a small, dank chamber on the east side of the passage. The cave narrows to a steep fissure at the far end, and is filled with the stench of animals. Savage snarls and the sounds of rattling chains greet your ears where three wolves are chained up just inside the opening. Each wolf's chain leads to an iron rod driven into the base of a stalagmite.
In the back of this room, high on the wall, and close to the ceiling, is a narrow fissure. Smoke and refuse seem to stain the mouth of the hole and a collection of garbage litters the floor below it.
* Kill the chained wolves * Set the wolves free * Ignore the wolves and continue * Do something else, feed your prisoners to them?
(Can I try to give the wolves some of my rations? Should I make an Animal Handling check? Also, did the goblins have quivers? If so, Marcon takes on for his new arrows.)

Yes, cross off 3x rations and make a single Animal Handling check.
No quivers. Goblins tuck those arrows in leather loops in their leather armor. That's why they only have 10x each and I'm hand waving spent or shot arrows by the enemy, too much book keeping.
As Daewen rifles through the corpses of the goblins, she manages to grab the remaining 10x arrows, and nothing else. Phew, these goblins are a stinky bunch! she thinks to herself.
Curious as to the wolves (a creature she's never seen in the underdark), so quietly pads over and Helps Marcon as he attempts to feed the beasts and calm them down.

A make shift quiver could be achived from the empty map case you looted from the dead horses saddle bags. As a rule a make shift substitute item is half as effective, so 10x arrows instead of a quiver thar carries 20x. We will say Resnalore picked up the map case and both saddlebags as loot retcon.
(This is still Borivik, just on my school device, hence the different name. Just FYI. What are the chances of Marcon keeping at least one of them as pets?)

If you feed him, walk him, and take care of him (cleaning up after doggie doo doos), then you can have a pet.
Marcon decides to stay with the wolves and release on of them. The other, a grey and brown wolf with one brown, one blue eye, he decides to keep.
I'll keep this one and name it Floki.
(Can Marcon keep the doggie doo doos to use as fire-starter? Feces can be used to make a smokeless fire IRL. And will I get the chance to purchase barding?)

With an arcana or nature check, you can turn feces into manure as a usable resource. We will call it "crafting" and it takes time and the appropriate tools and proficiencies. This is all possible during down-time, between combats, during long rests. I'll allow it, and that goes for leatherworking, fletching, smithing, etc. We can discuss more on what exactly your character will need to be trained in to accomplish the task, but I'm not worried about ret-con a background proficiency or tool. We can even say, like retraining a prepared spell, you can retrain a skill or tool, just don't abuse it, use retraining to gain access but don't flip flop

Now that the wolves have been domesticated, so they do not look at Vex as a snack anymore, Vex will tentatively move about the chamber looking for anything interesting.
Perception: 14
Once done while the others set the other wolves free Vex will look for any other passageways out of this room.
Upon his return, you see he has brought Drool with him. He holds his reins tightly as he talks soothingly to the mastiff. Slowly he relinquishes length of rein so that the animals can sniff each others’ butts.
You also note that the coil of rope that had once restrained the two prisoners is now attached to his backpack. A sheathed dagger, that you had never noticed before has caught his cloak open, gathered behind the sheath. Hmmmmm.

The main passage from the cave mouth climbs steeply upward, and then trickling stream plunges down, splashing before continuing out of the cave.
A side passage leads west across the other side of the stream and in the shadows, you can barely make out the dim shape of a rickety bridge of wood and rope, about 20 feet above the floor and 40 feet away.
Two dark figures chatter in goblin before you hear loud hammering, as if they are knocking heavy mallets against wet wood.
The passage suddenly fills with a mighty roar as a huge surge of rushing water pours down from above!
Everyone Roll a Dexterity save, DC 10 or be swept away. Fail the Dex Save and you can attempt a Strength save, DC 15 to hold onto a handhold or rock. Fail both saves and take bludgeoning damage 6 and be washed out of the cave, to the entrance.

After the wipe out, you hear yelling from the cave ahead. "You no come near or we kill our prisoners"
Let's wait for everyone to catch up and roll those saving throws followed by initiative rolls. I'll start bot-ing at 9pm est
* Anyone who wants can roll perception, investigation, survival from the wolf scene to get more description and possible clues
* Everyone needs a Dex DC 10, if failed Str DC 15 if double fail take 6 damage and wipe out-side
* Multiple goblin encounters are combined ahead, and we will need initiative, no surprise round possible, but if you roll high enough the players will get to go first. You have time to regroup and recover but not enough time to short rest.

The starving wolves eat your rations and with your tender attention and caring posture, you have befriended these "watchdogs."
* Given a few rounds and Strength checks, you can easily unchain the wolves
* Leave them and move on
* Euthanize them
* Do something else, keep moving

Before Wilhorn has a chance to answer Marc, he hears rushing water and he deftly springs to some high ground.
In Game log:
Dex Save: 24
Drool jumps to safety, as well.
In Game log (second Dex save but should only be +2. Drool doesn’t have his own roller)
Dex Save: 22
