After seeing the harpy plummet to the ground and crash in a smoldering heap, Perrin whirls around and looks to Sirius. Thankfully, the new gal seemed to know some magic, and the majority of his wounds faded away after placed a hand on him.
With Marlene heading onto one of the caves, Perrin decides to tag along with her. He lights another fire cupped in his palm to provide some light and scant heat as they journey into the cave. He peers warily at the shadows of the cave mouth, ready to hurl his fire at another harpy if one was lurking in there.
You can recover half (rounded down) of spent ammunition after a battle.
You peer inside of the cave. Naturally occurring breaks in the ceiling structure send small amounts of light into it, making the whole complex dimly lit. You see that the entire floor and walls of the cave are covered with slippery ice, no longer covered by snow like it was outside. This would seem a difficult path to walk without equipment like crampons (see “Slippery Ice” in the Dungeon Master’s Guide). The tunnel reaches a height of 30 feet.
The echoes of the moaning wind are all around you. Ahead, you spot a frozen waterfall. It takes the form of a 10-foot-tall sheet of ice.
[ Correct me if I'm wrong. So the path towards the waterfall is diagonal, as in, it goes upwards. So unless the fishers were ready to walk on slippery ice, it'd be impossible to do so. That's what I'm thinking. ]
Damn. This path is difficult for me to cross. Can't imagine the fishers having it any easier.
Marlede looks at Perrin and asks "Hey, Perrin, can you fly? Yes or no? I think this path is too difficult to cross unless we have crampons, which I don't. And I don't see any bodies. So if you can fly ahead and look, that would be great. Otherwise, let's meet up with the others and decide what cave to enter next."
Marlede will let Aubreen and Sirius know what they have seen so far.
Aubreen climbs down the rope to collect his dropped shield, looking down at the useless cross bow he considers just leaving it where it lay. Reconsiders and retrieves the hated thing. Climbing back up the rope to the entrance the Harpies flew from he shouts through the wind to his companions. "The fishers were lured in the lower cave but the Harpies came from here. I think they may be connected, I will meet you inside." He then ducks back under the cave opening (#5) and slowly makes his way forward, allowing his eyes to adjust and peering closely with intent at the details.
Marlede does indeed see the footsteps that originated from the boat head to the waterfall (and yes it goes upwards). It is not out of the question that crampons are something any skilled ice fisher has to hand. The frozen waterfall itself doesn't look extraordinarily difficult to climb, as there are some exposed stones in between the streams of ice.
Aubreen spies into the darkness of this cave. At his feet, a bone. Then another one. The uneven floor is strewn with them, animal and humanoid alike. There are numerous claw prints, matching those of the harpies. Except for the bones, this cave only contains the stench of old decay.
Perrin gives Marlede a good, long side-eye at her question. Was that some kind of joke about him being a bird person? She had pointed ears, but he didn’t ever asking if she could stab someone with them. After a moment of silence, Perrin shakes his head, looking slightly annoyed to Marlene for some reason.
Having a better idea, Perrin takes a deep breath before suddenly transforming into a giant spider roughly the size of a horse. It was quite the shocking sight to someone who wasn’t use to shapeshifters, and his sudden transformation was accompanied by a whole array of sounds as his body shifted and morphed.
All 8 of his legs slammed onto the ice, holding firm to the slick surface and echoing slightly in the cave. Where Perrin once stood, Marlene now sees a massive white spider with charcoal black markings standing in his place. She might recognize his new form as one of the giant widowmaker spiders that lived in the mountains around the Vale. Perrin turns to look at her with his multitude of eyes, and then he crouches to indicate for her to hop on, his fangs chattering annoyedly.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Aubreen drops his pack, digging out ta torch and tinderbox. With a couple strikes, flares of brief light from the sparks dance outward, until with a whoosh the torch catches. Putting his tools back he hoists the pack and slowly advances, holding the torch forward to get a better view, to banish the shadows from the nooks and crannies.
Noting the cave doesn't appear to connect to the one below, or apparently anywhere at first glance. He digs about in the refuse and detritus of the feral monstrosities lair, searching the corners for anything that catches his attention. "Torm, give me guidance in my time of need" he prayers near silently.

Even annoyed he looks cute! However, I should apologize.
Marlede is deifnitely surprised at Perrin's transformation into the giant spider. However, she looks excited about getting a chance to get on. She'll halt before doing so, so her eyes can meet with Perrin's many new ones.
"Thank you for the offer. And... I'm sorry for offending you. I shouldn't use my curiosity as an excuse to be rude. Won't happen again. I promise!"
If Perrin will still let her, Marlede hops on and says:
"Alright. Let's see what we can find through here."
In the cave above, the bones clink hollowly as Aubreen sifts through them. The flickering of the torch dances over the remains of who knows many creatures. Most of the bones have been broken open, likely to get at the marrow. Stink is much worse in the back of the cave, years of residue has accumulated. Only scraps remain of any equipment that may have once been on the bones. Despite his best efforts, the half-elf doesn't find anything hidden here.
Sirius goes into the same cave as Aubreen (#5). He inspects the bones, trying to estimate how old they've been here (nature: 12). "Ilmater, let these bones not be of the fishers."
After figuring out all there is to know about the remains, Sirius asks Aubreen for his rope. "If you'll lend me your rope, I can make us a way to the uppermost caves." If Aubreen lends him the rope, Sirius does exactly what he did previously to get to the upper caves. (perception: 4 and athletics: 19)
Aubreen uncoils the rope from his pack, handing the entirety of the length to Sirius. "It is a little frayed and not quite whole. I hope it is adequate for your needs" The rope is only 40' having been used and damaged when used against the druid at the tomb.

Perrin stays crouched long enough for Marlede to hop on. It was quite the strange experience for someone else to climb onto him like he some some common work horse, and it was even weirder to consider that fact that he was a giant spider nonetheless. These were interesting times the lived in to say the least.
After Marlede is situated, Perrin scampers along the ice towards the waterfall. He chooses to climb the wall instead of the waterfall itself as he assumed it would be much easier to scale, though he pauses a for a moment at the base of the frozen cascade to allow Marlede to get a firm grip on him; he'd feel terrible if she fell off and hurt herself as he scampered along the wall.
Once he's scaled the wall, he crouches low to the ground again to let Marlede get off easily. As he does, his multitude of eyes scan the dark recesses of the cave for anything interesting.
Sirius identifies a few freshly scoured bones, yet not enough to amount to four humanoids. Most of the skeletal remains are instead from animals.
The rope skillfully anchored, the climb up to the middle cave is a quick one. Inside, it's hard to see due to the infrequent cracks in the cave ceiling. A lightbeam here, a spot of illumination there. This cave smells fresher, better ventilated. The moaning wind is the strongest here, throwing itself around in the winding caverns, sending small ice particles tumbling. Several natural pathways go off into the cliffside.
Further down, Perrin is carrying Marlede along the walls with little trouble, cracking his spidery legs into the frozen material to get a hold. To the north, you see a natural stone bridge spanning the frozen river at 20 feet height. The the bridge is covered with a slippery, icy glaze. To your right, another pathway goes off to the east. At the edge of your vision, you see the frozen steps of a natural stairway rising in height.
Marlede holds onto Perrin unless she's being put down on the path that goes to the east (right) of the waterfall.
"Hey, Perrin. That bridge might connect to the other cave entrances. You can leave me here if you want. I can see in the dark, too. I'll shout if anything happens."
And if Perrin lets her down and goes off to the bridge, she'll ready her two shortswords and looks for more tracks while staying as silent as possible.
[OOC: In case it gets messed up again, the Stealth was a 15 and the Survival a nat 1. And just to be clear, she's not going up the pathway. Just looking for any indication of the fishers being nearby or not.]
Perrin hesitates to leave Marlede all by herself at the opening of another tunnel, but he supposed she could handle herself if something happened. Chattering his mandibles in agreement, he leaves Marlede and then scampers along the frosted wall towards the natural stone bridge. Just for kicks and giggles, he moves from the wall to the ceiling, his enjoyment of hanging from the ceiling overshadowing his slight disorientation from being upside down. Being able to walk on walls and ceilings was definitely a handy trick.
As he crawls along the ceiling towards the stone bridge, he keeps an eye out for any threats and other interesting things, trying to stay as silent as he could.

Aubreen climbs up behind Sirius. Brandishing the torch to cast light into the howling cave, the flame guttering in the gust from within. He could of used his magic, a steady cold light that would not go out with a gust. The torch however has heat, and life, both speaking to his needs in this frozen cavern. The light danced from the walls, the ice reflecting back at him, creating images of another within that moved as he did, itself carrying a torch to light the way.
Slowly moving forward he peers to the North, stepping only a hair up its passage. Perception: 14
Hearing the echo of a voice, coming from ahead of us "Sirius, does that sound like Marlede ahead of us, should we try to join back together?" He takes another couple steps up the North before backing off to listen to Siruis's sage advice on the safety of never splitting the party, versus the timely rescue of the lost and dying?
Sirius enters the cave and follows what sounds like the rest of the party. ”I think that must be Marlede indeed. Though the rescue of the fishers is must happen as soon as possible, meeting up with them will surely help us understand this quite elaborate system of tunnels better.”
As he nears the bridge, he spots the giant spider at the roof of the cave and is surprised by the apparent danger. He takes out his spear and lunges at the beast before it can attack him. As the spear moved closer and closer, from the body language of the beast, Sirius reads that thr spider seems weirdly unaggressive and strangely friendly. Sirius remembers Perrin’s ability to transform into animals and connects the dots. At the last moment, he manages diverge the path of the weapon to hit the roof instead of his friend. ”You really scared me there!” He sighs in relief.
Sirius exchanges information about the network of caves with Marlede. ”We must find the fishers as soon as possible, we should stay split up for now. Maybe you can follow the frozen stream with Perrin. No one else has the ability to traverse on the slippery ice quite as well. I think I’ll continue following this tunnel.” Sirius turns to Aubreen. ”Will you accompany me or will you go investigate the tunnel leading north?”
Sirius investigates the tunnel leading east. (Perception: 3)
Marlede has momentarily lost the tracks, as the snowy residue on the slippery ice river have faded over time and as they made their way further into the cave. But now, she can see them once more, faintly, along the narrow corridor going east away from the river. Multiple pleople have traversed the natural staircase into the room beyond.
Perrin, from his excellend outlook, can see into the cavity beyond the bridge. There, he can see an abandoned campsite, the fire cold, the sleeping bag crusted over with frost and snow. With his many eyes, he also spots some scattered papers.
Sirius, stepping up to the bridge, also faintly makes out the campsite, without the detail that Perrin percieves.
Aubreen, still within the western cave complex proper, cautiously inches forward to see more. The flickering torch illuminates a large room supported by pillars of glittering mineral deposits. Due to his cautious approach, Aubreen has just enough time to spot movement within this cave. A large furry mass has emerged, slunk around the pillars. Hungry eyes stare into the half-elfs own.
A dire wolf effortlessly closes the distance. The size of a horse, it hesitates just a moment.

"I FOUND MORE TRACKS OVER HERE! THEY WENT THIS WAY!"
Completely disregarding stealth at this point. She will then sheath her Swords to ready the Longbow and an Arrow in case anything comes running at her.
