Rufus plucks the book from the table and offers it to Radallion. "Master bard, have you an interest in cosmology? No doubt it is tainted by the same curse of melancholy affecting the whole of the realm. Still, it may be an interesting read for both of us." (If Radallion isn't interested, Rufus hangs on to the book.)
He continues on down the hall, staying close to Svetlana and Rhykal.
As Svetlana approaches the end of the hallway with Rhykal and the rest of the crew in tow, Nothing but footsteps and silence can be heard. Approaching, knocking, and then twisting the doorknob proves the door is unlocked. as Svetlana swings the door open, she reveals a long unkept convservatory. Desiccated vines sprawl across the tables and foggy glass walls of this conservatory. Rusted gardening tools and pots of barren soil lie scattered across sturdy wooden tables. a slight smell of mildew emanates from this room.
"From the point of view of possible relations with spirits, this room disappoints expectations..." the last of the Dusk Elf maidens comments "But now that we are here, we might as well take a look... There may be clues left in around the inhabitants of this house".
Cautiously and without lowering her guard, Svetlana enters the room and goes to retrieve a shovel that is on the floor.
"Svetlana, our people love taking care of plants," the Voices in her head blurt out "but do you think this is the right time?" "Do you want to go into farming right now?" "Apart from the fact that regrowing something in these pots filled only with dried earth must not be a small undertaking..." "If our people love caring for plants so much," Svetlana retorts "why don't you do that and let me inspect this room in peace?" “Because we are in your head, Sevtlana, and you don't have a single plant here!”
However, the Savage Wanderer does her best to focus her attention on the room and, with the shovel, begins to wander around, methodically moving (from the distance that the shovel handle allows) the pots and desiccated vines, to check if there is anything left underneath... who knows... a personal item... a note...
Examining the pages of the cosmology book, Rufus bumps into Rhykal standing in front of him. "Oh! Sorry" he blurts, nearly dropped the book. Then with hushed tones, "I believe the home must be getting to me."
"Ah, an arboretum!" he exclaims as he steps inside (moving about 15ft north). "Perhaps these plants were at one time capable of producing medicinal, or even toxic, substances. It might, at least, explain why there seems to be no living inhabitant of the mansion. I wonder if we'll also find a laboratory..."
"Can you recognize the dried remains of these plants and brew useful potion out of them?" Svetlana turns her azure eyes to Rufus, intrigued and interested.
As the party begins to walk in toward the conservatory, Svetlana eyes a shovel on the ground across the room. Rufus excitedly passed Rhykal to the first set of desiccated vines to examine further, and upon which discovered plant markers in the soil by the roots of these vines. the markers read "Murdersuckle". Rhykal slowly and cautiously steps in, taking in the large view of the conservatory.
As Svetlana rounds the corner west, out of the corner of her eye she notices a transparent woman with a veiled hat and parasol walking adjacent to her across the opposite side of the room, keeping paces with her, step...by step..by step. as Svetlana looks at her, Between eyeblinks, the conservatory is alive and filled with flowers. The woman pauses here and there to admire a bloom or adjust a pot, and then looks toward Svetlana. As suddenly as she appeared, she vanishes, and the room lies in ruin once more. Svetlana also seems to be the only one who notices the rusty gardening tools begin to levitate from the tables and floors, before the door slams shut, nearly hitting Rhykal as she enters the room.
