OOC: DM, do you break the 24 hours into 8 hrs active search, 8 downtime, and 8 sleeping?
DM: Somewhat. You can explore for however long you want. I only really put a time limit on crafting, which is also limited to 8 hours per day. I think exploring automatically has a soft-cap based on your resources, so there's no need to further limit it.
Pisgahs pike hasn't been damaged. The gelatinous ooze material seems to have been way less corrosive than the black ooze.
You have no trouble moving back to the eastern door where Pisgah heard the bugbears talking. As you know what to listen for, you still hear them at the same spot.
@DM [OoC: Nikkitch doesn't have any invisibility anymore, nor another spell slot to cast it anyway. If you plan for someone to suspect or recognize him, just know he's visible.]

DM: Acknowledged. I'll handle it so that there is a 1 in 6 chance that a given Xanathar group will recognize Nikkitch.
Pisgah finds this door already opened. The room beyond is small and and much dustier than the rest of this section. Some trash that the gelatinous cube didn't dissolve has accumulated here. Among the debris and rubble, a few objects stand out: a glass slipper (no second slipper to be found), a wide-brimmed, palm-frond sunhat that has been chewed on, a utensil shaped like a fork on one end and a spoon on the other and a smoking pipe made from a tree root. The crafting-minded among the group can salvage 5 hide scraps, 5 metal scraps and 5 wood scraps here.
Rico will collect the scraps. How much does each type of scrap weigh?
Pisgah opens the door into a corridor that goes both north and south. The bugbears are audible around a corner to the north. To the south around a bend, the corridor ends in another door. It doesn't seem like the bugbears have noticed you yet, as they continue talking.
Pisgah will quietly close the door and then tell the group about the bugbears up to the north around a corner and the closed door to the south. "Do we want to try to avoid the bugbears and move to the south or go on ahead to the bugbears and see what happens? There is a chance that they may hear us if we try to go south. Will it seem like we are trying to sneak through if we are caught?"
"Well, okay, south it is and quietly as possible."
Pisgah opens the door again and as he turns to slip quietly through the door (Stealth roll of 3 on a Nat 1) hangs his foot on the door jamb and falls to the ground. He pops back up as fast as he can and looks furtively up the hallway to the north.
In a whisper, "Nikk, I think they may have heard that. Stay to the back."

Pisgahs prediction comes true. After a short period of silence, you hear one of the bugbears shout a question in goblin. A few seconds later, there are footsteps coming towards you.
Two bugbears head around the corner, both of them equipped with heavy morningstarts. They stop shortly as they see Pisgah in the doorway. Then approach cautiously, switching to common: "Identify yourselves! How many eyes does Xanathar have?"
They're aware of others behind Jaya and Pisgah, but you two take up most of their attention.
The bugbears come to a stop, their postures relaxing somewhat. They look you over, taking your measure.
"Oh, new faces then. We're from grick Snack Watch Post. I'm Narr, the commander. Who are you reporting to?"
"If you're here for the plundering operation in the Arcane Chambers, head south. The stairs are hidden behind a secret door in the north wall of the room. Can't miss it."
Along the way, Jaya reminds everyone of the passphrase and response we learned from the goblins:
How many eyes does Xanathar have? As many as there are stars in the sky

Metal scraps are 1 pound each, hide and wood are 0.5 pounds each.
Once all of the party is in the room and ready to enter the area with the bugbears, Pisgah will open the door to the room.

"Lets try south and quietly. We can always try the passphrase if found."
"Unless. They know. Me." quips the voice of a Manticore.
"Well then I guess we have the battle we've been avoiding for half this dungeon" Jaya says to Nikk with a smirk.

OOC: haha! perfect!

"Pssst, Jaya, here they come."

With the bugbears fooled, you gain 80 XP each.
“That exactly where we are heading, thanks Narr. Excellent job on watch, our friend here is a bit clumsy” Jaya says, nodding at Pisgah.
Jaya will move to put himself between the bugbears and the southern route, attempting to make the others harder to see.
One by one, starting with Nikk he’ll send a quick telepathic message:
Head south, let’s move like we have a mission, I’ll go last.
