Speaking of, it'll be a few months before it becomes a thing, but we'll need to keep in the back of our collective minds whether or not we're shifting to the new ruleset. I don't really have a preference, since I haven't played a paladin ever, in my 46 years of D&Ding, so I might not know the difference, but still, something to ponder.
I've heard that the D&D 2024 rules are backwards compatible with the current rules.
If the rules truly are backwards compatible ... then even if the game gets adjusted to the D&D 2024 rules, a D&D 5th edition character would fit right in.
So I could see a situation where each player decides if they would like to rebuild their character according to the 2024 ruleset. I'm assuming though, that D&D Beyond will continue to support 5th edition characters in parallel to D&D 2024 ... it would probably be a selection made at very beginning of the character builder.
Once D&D 2024 gets released I'll have to give the rules a read through before answering how much (if any) this game will be adjusted.
Also, thanks for the reminder in IC about this post. Sorry, I forgot about it.
No worries. I tend to be a bit specific about how I run social encounters. I'm not generally a fan of when dice rolls are part of every single post during a social encounter.
An example: "I roll to do a thing, did it happen? Oops, I failed. Well, I roll five more times and here are the results, did I pass yet?"
^^ To me, this is example of an encounter that is ... meh. It's boring if we can just spam the rolls and never have to deal with a less-than-ideal result.
When helming a tale, I like it much better if, as the scene plays out ... when we get to a decision point where the story could go one way or the other, a roll is called for, and then the results of that roll shape the story.
It can seem a bit anal, I know, but by keeping the rolls a bit less frequent ... they matter more.
No rush. We're heading to Camp Margaritaville, which I didn't even know was a thing till about a month ago, so I'll be slow on my responses till Sunday.

Enjoy the vacation! That sounds like a nice time. =)
It was a lot of fun, and we left just ahead of the hurricane (Crystal Beach, Texas, is just south of Houston, where the hurricane just made landfall). Now, back to the real world.
Hey gang, I've been a space cadet these past few weeks. I recently switched careers (retired from one and started another) and the new job has been pretty brutal this last month.
Basically, I'm the new guy again and my schedule is not my own.
With all this scheduling difficulty (totally my fault, by the way), the added time crunch of running a game on DDB has managed to suck all the fun out of the game for me.
I'll leave everything up for a while so that you guys can copy your sheets over and whatnot, but I am going to pull the plug on this one.
Apologies, but running a game right now is not a task that I feel up to.
It's really unfortunate, but I completely understand. I went through a career change a few years ago, and it was certainly a crazy time in my life, so definitely sympathize.
It was a nice game while it lasted, and I hope everyone enjoyed themselves. Nice playing with you all! =)

Also, looks like Toadstool is going to be doing even more wild shaping with the 2024 rules: https://www.dndbeyond.com/posts/1755-the-2024-circle-of-the-moon-druid-and-changes-to
Mal’s character sheet is done and he’s in the dndbeyond campaign! Ready to play once he’s checked I think!

I’d prefer to stick with the current one, as it’s what we started with and it’d be simpler to stick with it
Oh wow this looks dope! The only thing I saw was about the changes to other druid subclasses.
Sticking with 5e would probably be my first choice, too.
Agreed. I had just noticed the article and I thought it was super cool, but I think that changing the rules mid-campaign wouldn’t be ideal.

Orann and Mal'thrae are GO!
Character sheets have been reviewed and once the party gets to South Fork, you may begin posting.

Hey gang, I got caught with a couple of busy days at work this week.
I'll (hopefully) have time to update the game tomorrow afternoon.

Sorry for the delay, gang. A post is up!
@ScienceVersusAdventure - I take it that things are still pretty busy with your work these days?

Ah damn. Good luck then
No problem. Real life can throw a wrench into the most fantastical of plans. Good luck, and Yaudara will persevere. :)
