Ashley smiles at Dardek, "No, you don't need to carry my things. But here, take the rope, I'll hang onto the waterskin."
She takes up the rear of the group as they head towards the Stinkroots, trying not to breathe in too deeply. Constantly checking over her shoulder, the echoes through the tunnels make it impossible for her to pinpoint well... anything. When they stop, she nearly runs over the rabbit man, "ooh, sorry!" and then overhears the conversation and swallows a lump that has grown in her throat. She follows as they continue on, hoping a bit faster. She wonders if the group would leave her behind if the pursuers caught up and grabbed a hold of her... she tries to push this thought from her mind, but it keeps coming back, unbidden.
With the pursuers comfortably behind you, Talon leads the group through a crumbling, long abandoned passage… He scrambles over a few rocks and ruins until you find a narrow break in the sewer wall, tight enough that you’ll be forced to push through one at a time.
Beyond it? Darkness, untouched by the ambient light raining down through the occasional street-level grates. Those without dark vision see nothing except for the fissure itself, which is overgrown with roots, weeds and fungus.
Those with dark vision:
You can make out that the tunnel beyond the crack is a tangle of dense roots that extends forward in a linear direction as far as you’re able to see without going inside… The walls are slick with organic grot. Looks like it is, or once was created by a burrowing creature, but you see no obvious signs of bones, waste or collected food scraps.
The chilling breeze that emanates from the fissure suggests that this passage runs deep… far deeper than the sewers that currently surround you.
Where the built tunnels smell of sewer gas, mortal waste and rotting vegetation… The crack that leads to stinkroots reeks of decay, low-tide and something both unplaceable and indescribable.
It’s going to be a challenge to turn back at this point though… The corner where Talon has led you all is dead-end except for the crevice. After you make whatever preparations you’d like, you can duck in or risk backing out and facing whoever is following you…

Pal will fish his booklight out of his pack to provide some bit of illumination for himself (dim light, 2.5ft radius). His breath comes in gasps and leaves in coughs; he is not used to such physical exertion nor the foul odors emanating from the fetid muck underfoot. He'll try to stifle his cough into his elbow, but the enclosed space of the sewers amplifies it regardless.
Dardek turns to Ashley and Nibs "Um excuse me Mr.Nubbs and Ashley but can either of you see in the dark? It was another thing I was born with and can see some ways away. You see beyond that crack is a tangled mess of roots....They go pretty far forwardfar as I can see…The walls are slick with dead things.... Looks like it is, or uhhh was created by a burrowing creature. Thankfully I don't see any signs of bones, uhhh animal poo, or leftover food....."
The excitement of this run is just radiating off of Ashley. She is grinning from ear to ear as they escape their pursuers and make it through the crack in the wall. Pausing a bit inside so others can catch their breath she takes a look around and, other than the smell, is in awe of what she sees. "What kind of creature do you think could have made this? It's amazing!" She reaches up to touch the exposed roots.
As Pal's coughing doesn't really seem to slow down, Ashley looks at Nib to see if he can do anything about it. She had a waterskin now, but... no water.
Turning to Muir at his question, "Oh yes, not a problem. Can our little lizard leader? Our fearless one that has gotten us out of the sewers? I assume you can see down here? Once we get away from the sewer gas... I um... can help light the way." She nervously tucks a lock of hair behind her ear. Did she just willingly say she would use her powers? Whoa...
Dardek gasps a little at Ashley when she suggests using her powers. He quietly says to her "Do....do you trust them to show them your powers? Trust all of them?"
Talon leads on, his senses and familiarity with the Stinkroots offering him no problems navigating. He leads on, moving along as quick as he can go, turning around occasionally to bark (literally) at the others, making sure they are keeping up as he goes.
"This good day, mhm. Not as bad as usual." He comments.
When opportunity arises, he asks in a low tone (as he tries to avoid detection) where they're going next while looking through the various tunnels and caverns.
"Seig? Where we's go? Uhm, new frens? Where's you wants to go? Seig? Do you hear anyone following us?"
"I think we have to keep going..." Sieg mutters. The prospect of venturing into some unknown creature's burrow, whether freshly-dug or long-abandoned, is not a pleasant one. Still, it beats turning back and facing their pursuers head-on.
While waiting for the others' replies, the Eladrin will take a moment to investigate the walls of the tunnel, looking for claw markings and other distinctive features which might suggest what type of creature has passed this way.

Nib replies back, “Thank you Dardek, I can’t see in dark like this. No moon, nothin. And I’m afraid to strike up a torch. Smells like a big concentrated mass of farts down here, and my daddy (rest his soul) used to say some funny things about lighting farts, that they would explode! Can you believe that? Anyway, I don’t want to light these farts on fire, they’ll blow us away! So, somebody who can see, either pick me up or lead me by the hand until we’re clear of this foul mess. Stinkroots! Stinkroots indeed, see how they got their name now….”

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Dardek scrunches his face a bit and looks at Nibs "Fart? What is a fart?" Dardek thinks for a moment and pieces together the context clues "Oh you mean the stinky smell is a fart. The clerics referred to them as poofs. It was looked down upon to poof outside of the privy. These smell worse than any poof I have smelled....If this is what your uhhh fffarts smell like you should get your innards checked. The bunny fella looks a little green....Do bunny folks change their complexions like chamelions?"
The party forges on through the stinkroot caverns…
By clinging close to Pal’s booklight and relying on their companions to lead them through the darkness, the farmers are able to compensate for their lack of darkvision.
As you weave your way through the root-riddled tunnel, you keep your eyes peeled for anything hostile moving in the darkness. You all become accustomed to Talon’s sudden stops… his pauses to sniff the air… his redirections and his muted “shut up and stay low” hiss…
After a good half-mile or so, you feel the cool subterranean breeze pick up strength, suggesting the mercy of a less claustrophobic passage ahead… but just before you’re about to step into the larger chamber the kobold gestures for you to stop.
He points down at the desiccated corpse of what you imagine must’ve been a cave bear… then up at the 30’ cavern ceiling which undulates with activity… Hundreds of winged somethings shifting in the shadows. (Survival Check -- Monsters: 1 / Talon: 20)
Talon, instead leads you through a tight little burrow you hadn’t even noticed. On one hand, it extends the amount of time you spend in tight quarters… on the other hand, it allows you to circumvent the cavern entirely…
You emerge in an earthy-smelling corridor with strange, muted acoustics. Pal’s reading light reveals that the walls of this cavern is slick with hyper-colorful fungi… Ashley’s curious eye catches an oversized morel about 10’ away. She instinctively leans in to get a better look, but Talon yanks her back just in the nick of time before a trio of slender whiplike tendrils fly out in her direction, trying to swipe at her, missing her by inches…
(Survival Check -- Monsters: 1 / Talon: 21)
The rest of you quickly respond, following Talon as he climbs up to a drier embankment and continues deeper into the cavern….
After another twenty minutes or so you can feel the cavern making a sharp incline… You assume you’re near the end. The tunnel forks in two directions. Talon holds up a claw indicating for you to stop just as an oversized lizard (about the size of a monitor) darts down one of the passages, startled by your presence. Talon holds still and you watch as one of the stalactites on the ceiling of the passage suddenly detaches, falls, and envelops the lizard in darkness that even those of you with darkvision cannot penetrate.
(Survival Check -- Monsters: 1 / Talon: 22)
After another fifteen minutes or so you begin to sense a familiar, almost welcome stench… The fecal-amoniac smell of sewage… You find yourselves in some sort of sloping septic pit which is, apparently, the terminus of your malodorous underground odyssey…
Mid-afternoon light pores through a trio of latrines. A single wooden utility door provides access and egress. You hurry to the utility door… Successfully escape before the light from the latrine hole can be eclipsed by a pale, fleshy moon…You throw open the door to find yourselves in…
Sun reflects off of sun-bleached wooden buildings… mostly warehouses processing salvage. Working class humans go about their business and trade, though the area is mostly quiet do to the holiday. The sound of drinking and grousing emanates from a signless tavern, decorated with flowers to commemorate the Maither’s Day festivities. From your vantage point you cans see commercial promenade selling goods and services. Some are still open for business, but most are closed.
The busiest structure in this district appears to be a small river-dock where merchants from the north unload goods and wares to sell at the Maither’s Day festival. Nib and Pal can’t help but think of the barge that surely passed through this way at some point today carrying produce and other home-crafted goods from Figbrook.
A major trade road leads out of town, north along the Faergach river… Another leads northeast toward Aonadh, local homeland of the dwarven people.
A few locals turn to look at you with curiosity as you emerge from the latrine, but no one seems to care all that much… All of them far too preoccupied with their own business.
What would you like to do?

Ashley breathes in deep after they leave the stinkroots and looks around, almost comically as she takes it all in. "I'm... I'm free? I'm out in the actual world, is it true?" She smiles giddily at Dardek, "Pinch me, I gotta make sure this isn't a dream."
She then closes her eyes and feels the sun shining down upon her. Finally, she tears her face away from the sun and addresses the group, "So, I'm glad this festival is going on, keeps eyes away from us. Shall we head for this boatwreck?" Directing her question to Nib and Pal. And then heads over to the stream and fills her waterskin.
Sieg outstretches his hands, allowing the cool breeze to drift between his fingers. It is certainly a welcome sensation after hours of stagnant, sour sewer air. As his eyes readjust to the light, he glances about to scan the surrounding scenery... something tells the Eladrin that danger is still afoot.
"Alright, Nib and Pal, it's your time to shine. Lead on."

Hi there! I'm a Christian musician based in Canada :)
Pal will do his best to wash the detritus from his boots in the stream before leaning down to wash his face and hands. He'll defer to Nib for navigating back to the scene of the wreck and busy himself with tinkering with some of the junk he hauled out of Onifax's lair.
Talon squints as they emerge into the sun, and then pulls a little set of wire goggles from his belt and stretches them over his face, something that looks like he crafted them from shoddy materials. They almost kinda work to keep the sun directly out of his eyes.
"Oooh brightshine." He says, sneering at the sky. "Talondoesn'tlikethebrightshinesomuchhm."
Seeing Pal go to the creek to start bathing, Talon follows, wading into the water just upstream of Pal to start washing all the (literal) crap off his feet and cleaning his claws and his ornate red scales as best he can in the running water...while it washes down to his new friend.
"Ah oh yesyes, to the boatwreck!" He says, sounding way more sure about this leg of the journey than he really is. He's busy looking around, trying to take a hard look for anyone that seems to be paying too much attention to them. "I don't like this place hm, or these people's yes no."
Nib similarly takes his hands and cups the water into them, washing off his face and getting the smell out of his nose. “Whew! That was crazy, never been anywhere like that! Talon, thank you for leading us out!” He looks up at the dock, eying the section with the trading stalls a little further away, looking for any familiar faces. He nods when he hears Talon, saying “Yeah, let’s get away from here. I know how to lead us to where that ship crashed. I don’t think we want to talk to anyone here….”
Nib leads them around, staying away from the vendors and looking for an alternate way. “Now we’ve got to get across the river again… this is where Alianor helped us before… Pal, did you see any other way across?”
"Ouch! Ha, Dardek.. that is really just an expression? But yeah.. now I know I'm definitely not dreaming."
Having been too busy enjoying her new found freedom, Ashley realizes how much she stinks as well and does her best to clean herself in the stream. As everyone gets ready to head out, she smiles at Nib, "Lead on! Though... tell us more about these weird creatures? Were they big?"
Dardek follows everyone else to the stream and hesitates a moment to ask “Are you sure this is safe? I’m not going tog eat any flesh eating bacteria? Blood sucking parasites? Water born viruses?”
Sieg raises a concerned eyebrow at the young man's inquiry, trying to imagine what sort of Reclaimer experiment might have subjected Dardek to the likes of 'flesh-eating bacteria'
"Er... no. It should be safe,"he begins, splashing a little water on his brow and wiping it with the hem of his cloak. "Have you never seen a stream before?"
