Amnezia, a human fighter, trudges towards the group, still half-asleep and encumbered by his bulky armor. "Hello, I'm Amnezia," he mumbles, rubbing his eyes. "Sorry to be late. Any action around?" Despite his drowsiness, his tone carries a hint of readiness for whatever may lie ahead.
I think Burntends would sit in the common room for quite some time. Then remember, why they were here and ask the innkeeper where to find Mrs. Hercule and for any rumors about the missing people and the Citadel.
Exteri nods as the blacksmith talks, a touch too enthusiastic for the words the dwarf is saying.
"Chicken fever? Odd, plenty of folk back home raised chickens and never got anything called chicken fever," he ponders this for a second, then realizes his companions are leaving without him. "Thanks so much for your time and your words Lutgher - we really appreciate it!"
Exteri hurries out of the forge, following his companions to the Hucreles store.
Raul belches after thoroughly enjoying the pie. Comforted by being able to feel normal in this way, Raul calls out somewhat loudly as if he was drunk on the moment like his cousin.
”Dearest patrons! I thank you with a sincerity truly shining to behold. To taste a meal so scrumptious is surely a sign of a future emboldened by the Lady of Luck herself. My heart dances in tune with the joyous steps of my own heartblood Burntends as I’m sure yours must as well. Let our hearts sing in this quest together! Onwards my good and loyal swainmen to the abode of one Madame Hucrele. For it is within her plight that we have come to strike as the lightning sure and swift. And that call SHALL BE ANSWERED!”
Dorgarag, Sylar, & Exteri: You head to Hucrele Provisions, clearly the nicest looking building in the village. It isn't the largest structure in Oakhurst, but it somehow feels the grandest. As you enter the store, this sense of nobility extends to the interior of the store and to the tall, dark haired human woman behind the counter. “Hello, what can I do for you three today?” she asks.
Amnezia: Blinking to make sure you're not still asleep, you come face to face with what appears to be an ooze eating pie and a drunk kobold failing to dance.
Burntends: The innkeeper points you towards Hucrele Provisions, the store owned by Kerowyn Hucrele. As for missing people, Four adventurers went to the Sunless Citadel; Talgen; a fighter, Sharwyn; a wizard, Sir Braford; a paladin, and Karakas, a ranger.
Raul: The patrons of the inn are stunned into silence by your enthusiastic proclamation. The innkeeper looks up from his conversation with Burntends, speechless. After a moment he let's out a confused, “Thank you?”
*Amnezia's amusement sparkles in his eyes as he observes the drunk kobold's antics, stumbling around the store in search of sustenance. Chuckling softly to himself, he decides to join in the whimsy of the moment, purchasing a bluberry pie and some fruit juice. Taking a seat nearby, he settles in comfortably, relishing the simple pleasure of enjoying his lunch amidst the peculiar company of the tipsy kobold.*
Burntends is BACK ON TASK. Having heard from the innkeeper about Hucrele’s provisions, Burnteds believes he has cracker the case! A big smilw breaks out on his face and he grabs Raul, runs over to the newly arrived Amnezia “Hey man, welcome! We are in the middle of important business! I have just cracked the case. Take your food to go and follow us! Next time, try to arrive on time, Raul and I can’t do all the work!”
Burntends smiles at Amnezia. Spins, and runs out of the inn towards the Provisions store. He does look over his shoulder… searching… where is that fiery kobold…
Burntends arrives at Hucreles Provisions ready to further crack the case and finds… the rest of the group already talking to Ms. Hucreles. Someone must have tipped them off. He gets dejected for a moment that he did not in fact crack the case. Then remembers the pie, the ale, laughing with Raul, the beautiful fiery female and realizes he has had a much better day than the others.
”Hello everyone, I brought us some more help”. Pointing at Amnezia.
Exteri looks around Hucreles Provisions, curious to see what such an oddly grand store sells. He immediately notices how much cleaner and more appealing the store is than the general store in his home village - the fabrics for sale are crisper, the tinware shinier, the teas and spices on display more varied.
"Good afternoon madam. We're new in town - I'm Exteri, this is Sylar and this is Dorgarag." Exteri points to himself and his party members in turn. "We're here to investigate the missing adventurers, and we thought we'd see what we could find out around the village."
With a wide grin and a mouthful of pie, Amnezia extends a friendly greeting to the woman before him. "Nice to meet you, Madame," he says warmly, his words slightly muffled by the delicious pastry. Swallowing quickly, he adds, "We're here to help." His tone is earnest, conveying his genuine desire to lend assistance in whatever way he can.
With the party gathered in Hucrele Provisions, Kerowyn looks you all over. “I'm glad to meet you all. I knew placing that ad at the Yawning Portal was a good idea,” She raises her voice a little and talks over her shoulder, “Didn't I, Morgan?”
Behind her, dusting a large shelf of dungeoneering supplies, an elderly half-elf absently nods in agreement. “Yes, ma'am. You're right as always,” He says without looking up from his work.
Looking back at the party, she says, “I assume you all read the posting. I need someone to go to that cursed Citadel and bring back my children.” She tears up a little, but hides it behind her regal bearing. “And if they're,” she swallows, “...dead, then I need you to return their signet rings. The rings have been symbols of the House of Hucrele for centuries. We may not have the power or the wealth of our predecessors, but we do have our pride.”
She takes a moment to compose herself. “Sorry about that, do you have any questions?”
Burntends looks over at Raul and then to the woman.
"Ma'am, I know the importance of family. I will get make sure we get your children back. You have hired the right group of people. In fact, we don't even need your gold, just put that away right now. Family First! Right guys?" He looks around at the others as he turns down the gold that they traveled all this way for. "Why were your kids going to this Citadel anyway? Can you tell us anything about it? If there is no Sun my grandpa would love it I bet! He has a bad case of Sunlight Sensitivity!"
Amnezia's gaze softens with empathy as he addresses Miss Hucreles. "No specific questions, we will find them," he assures her, his voice carrying a comforting tone.
Then, with a slightly embarrassed smile, he looks at Dorgarag and nods. "Pretty poor these days, I need gold!," he admits.
Exteri is increasingly uncomfortable with the conversation about gold. He can feel his human form begin to sweat and his face grow hot, but attempts to project confidence nonetheless.
"But we can all agree gold is not the important part! Information to recover the Hucrele children and their companions is of paramount importance. Is there any kind of partial map of that cursed Citadel? Do we know what path they took?" he asks, deliberately mirroring Kerowyn's language where he can in an attempt to put her at ease.
“Absolutely Ma’am. Family first. I don’t know what I would do without Raul.” He squeezes Raul into a big hug and parts of Raul squeeze out as a result, like squeezing on a squish ball… As a result Raul’s head grows larger.
She thinks back to how this all began. “My children went to the Sunless Citadel because they wanted to find out how the goblins were obtaining the magic fruit they sell to us every summer. Talgen was sure he could find a way for us to grow the magic fruit ourselves and cut out the middle man. In the past, sometimes we would plant the seeds at the center of each fruit, hoping to grow an enchanted apple tree. Unfortunately, all they would ever produce was a twiggy mass of twisted sapling stems. Not too long after the saplings reach 2 feet in height, they are stolen- every time." She shakes her head. "We assume the goblins send out thieves to ensure their monopoly on enchanted fruit.
“Sharwyn was more interested in the magic of it all. She wanted to know how things worked and exactly what caused the healing power to flow through the fruit.” Talk of her children's curiosity and drive brings a brief smile to her face. “Together, nothing was going to stop them from going out to that cursed place. So I did the only thing I could in the situation, I hired them some professional help. I knew Sir Braford, a paladin of Pelor, from my younger days. He brought a ranger named Karakas with him. The four of them set out for the Citadel over a month ago. They should have been back by now.” She sighs.
“My children are the most important things in my life and I would gladly part with my gold to get them back. But if my offer of 250 gp to each of you to return my children safely isn't enough, think of your salvage rights. Anything you find in the Sunless Citadel is yours. No one knows for sure what the Sunless Citadel once was, but legends hint that it served as the retreat of an ancient dragon cult. And if there's one thing dragon cults like to do, it's to accumulate treasure for their dragon masters.”

"Hello, ma'am. My name is Dorgarag Holkurg. I am one who saw the ad with the others here."
"Do you know why your children went to the Citadel? And we understand that others were with them. Did you or your children hire the others?"
"Is there anything you could tell us that you think increases our chances of finding your children?"
This is the most words Dorgarag has spoken in a week.

Sylar bows his head slightly towards Kerowyn.
"If you could provide us with a map and details of the route they took we will be on our way immediately good lady"
Burntends is ready to go. "Ma'am, we will be on our way immediately. We will do all we can. Let's go!"
