When Commander Breakbone arrives Koselig jumps right in with a question about their 2 week mission, "When you say undead, we're talking zombies and skeletons right? You haven't encountered any other kind, have you?"
No, I was speaking to the whole group. I can see if he js available forthwith. As for tbe undead in this area, it's been mostly zombies, occasionally something worse. But I've heard stories of the swarms that took Camp Righteous. They say there was an undead dinosaur, and zombies fell from its open maw, right over the wall and I to the heart kf the camp. There was nothing to defend. Undead I side and out. The survivors had no chance. You can ask Captain Firebeard if you dare." With that, she dismisses herself and departs the tent. As she leaves, a pair of guards enter behind to take her place and jeep watch over the commamd tent.
Captain Sparhawk finds it interesting that they were not asked to leave the command tent. He looks at the two guards, (Not quite in the tone of an order...but close enough and with authority) "Gentlemen, as my group is now allied with your camp in the fight against the undead, I ask you to get Commander Breakbone for us? We may have some questions as we develop our strategy so you all don't perish here in the next week. Thank you."
Then, without any hint of subtly and acting like a trained officer, he will look over any command plans/ maps/ documents (if there are any), on the command table.
"I have potions and elixirs that might help. My Hasty Tasty tonic makes people quicker, and my Liquid Armor potion strengthens metal and skin alike." Koselig begins rummaging through his backpack looking for small bottles and flasks to produce as proof of his claims.
"I can whip some up pretty quick if we need them in a pinch. There's Bless in a Bottle which is essentially the same as a cleric's Bless spell. Flask Full O' Feathers allows you to fly... YES! To actually fly, although it's only temporary."
Finally after producing a few flasks he looks up at the others and realizes he got a little carried away and begins packing everything away again. "Well I'm not suggesting any of us should try flying right now but I just wanted to share what they do in case it might prove helpful in any plans you make." After clapping his hand to his head, "Oh, and I almost forgot, Presto Chango Potion which allows you to change your body to adapt to any situation."

<sorry. I should have put '...' she was just going to get him hersellf, but not planning to come back to the tent unless he ordered her to. I just had to stop writing irl. Anyhow>
Sparhawk can clearly see the map depicting relative density of undead in the surrounding areas of the basin. A stack of dispatches fill a folio marked as such.
Koselig cozies up to the table and placing his hands upon it stretches and pulls himself up on his tippy-toes, with his nose just peeking over the edge he lets his eyes go wide, "What exactly are you looking for? Do you think they're hiding something important from us? Maybe we should make a rough copy of any maps they have?"
Trying to be helpful and feel included Koselig will natter on with little questions and advice but it's mostly to distract himself from the horrid conditions of the camp.

"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
"Without Cha!jil here, it would be easy to get turned around in the jungle. Once we know where we are headed, I wonder if we can use the terrain to our advantage." Sparhawk subtly places his shield on the ground beside him, conveniently allowing for the little gnome some more height. "Go ahead and make a copy if you can Koselig."
He looks at Cha!jil, "You seem ill at ease my friend. What are you thinking?"
As Sparhawk quitely moves away from the table, leaving his shield on the ground for the gnome to stand on, he looks at the guards.
With the presence of a stern battle-tested commander not to be lied to, the plated armored 6'4 "Captain" looks at the guard: "Where is everyone, and why is the camp in a state of disarray soldier?"
As if on cue, at that very moment Captain Niles Breakbone bursts into the command tent. "It's an uninhabitable jungle filled with zombies, Captian," he barks. "We ha e our ahare if troubles, it's true, and now what visits visits our gate? A fallen paladin, an oathbreaker in exile? Yes, the name Sparhawk has been spoken by so many who've never laid an eye on him, that it's scarcely possible to say what sort of man he is. Yiur exploits in Nangalore and yiur gifts to museums may win you favor in the hearts of strangers, but in this fort I decide who is worthy of honor and who is cast out in shame. Now, my XO tells me you've agreed to aid the detachment headed foe the Mistcliffs. Marks for that, and she as well told me that you escorted the priest down here. I met with her already." Breakbown carries with him fresh dispatches, which he has just been given by Undril Silvertusk. "She said you all fought bravely, but one of you seemed to take ill when the fighting began. I won't tolerate malingering in thus unit! Clear?" The commander is clearly out kf his depth. His over the top speech is a transparent facade. A noble charged with a task he is not prepared to handle. He worries constantly, his fi gerbils chewed to nubs subtly mark his anxiety despite his otherwise put-together appearance. He is the picture of a proper officer, his uniform totally unmodified, despite being poorly suited to the warm wet climes of Chult.
"Now, tell me, Sparhawk, what are you looking for out here thats worth risking your life for, but you'd be willing to turn your back on for two weeks at the drop of a hat?"
<side note: I never asked, but is it Captain like a military rank ir just the captain of a privately held ship?>

In the minutes you waited for Breakbone to arrive, a guard, hearing of the potions Koselig describes, informs him that Sister Cyas would appreciate his talents. She leads a corps of a half dozen acolytes. Technically, the religious templars are part of the fighting force, but in practice, they spend most of their time tending the sick and wounded
Sparhawk listens to the man patiently. "I see you have heard some of the rumors surrounding me, and like most rumors, some are greatly exaggerated, indeed we all have the choices from our past to contend with. I have served penance for my crimes." Sparhawk looks at the man. "The way I see it, it comes down to this. If you and your soldiers could use our aid, my group is skilled at fighting and healing and we have agreed to do so at the risk of our lives and on my honor."
"I have served in the military as a soldier and am also a Paladin, my power given to me by my gods. My god despises undead and I find them so repulsive, I wretch when I see them. Then,” (he pulls out his sword,) “I destroy them.”
”What you want to believe is your concern commander." Sparhawk pauses...putting together his thoughts, then wiping some blood from his broken nose.
"Sir, with my respect for all that has happened here, by my own assessment of the current state of your camp, you could use our help, for whatever it is worth." Sparhawk looks at him directly, speaking calmly but with the same forthrightness as usual.
"If you do not need our assistance we offered to Captain Salhana or in healing those wounded here, please order her to release me from our agreement and we will clear out of camp and be on our way."
Just before Captain Niles Breakbone enters the tent Koselig will take out his thieves' tools and use his Magical Tinkering feature to create:
A static visual effect appears on one of the object’s surfaces. This effect can be a picture, up to 25 words of text, lines and shapes, or a mixture of these elements, as you like.
This should suffice to make a copy of the map. He then puts away his thieves' tools. (I imagine it is a rectangular case that can be unfolded and the map is on the top surface.)
"There we go, now we have our own map of the area so it's less likely we'll get lost."

Niles Breakbone is a man our of his depth, barely holding it together, his resources stretched to their limit. So, for Perne, Wulfe and the other seven members of this detachment, I hereby order you to lead the patrol tomorrow morning. This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The guard escorts Koselig to tne hospital tents. These tents are filled with sick and dying soldiers of the Order. At any given time, each tent holds 5 patients suffering from a range of maladies. Any help the Koselig can provide is greatly appreciated, especially the donations of potions of healing. "Truly we are twice blessed. Helm's gaze falls upon us this day, child. The jungle Dwarf fixes Sparhawk with a raised eyebrow, " We are in a baited trap, a flimsy one at that. It is not a place I like to be."
She followed the gnome to assist with the healing though in truth it would only be staving off the inevitable if the patients remained here. Still it was something to do..
