“I’m not too concerned about that Kos. We will prevail and achieve our objective, regardless of any impediments in our path.” The zealot paladin says, swinging at the beasts as if swatting at flies.
Demons are struck with magic missiles and maces from all sides. The white ape shortens by a foot, its fur darkens to a dark brown, maybe black by the dim light addorded by this room. The red pigment fades feom its face, leaving the skin tawny. The creature spwaks to you in Byssal, but yiu hear its voice in your mind theough telepathy and understand its words. "Ha! You failed to see theough my ruse. Fools!" He points at yiu mockingly, jumping yo and sown with excitement as he bears his teeth, chattering away incoherently as his telepathic voice echoes with mad laughter. With that he does a backward summersault and lands upon the abyssal pillar behind him, covering his mouth with both hands as his telepathic laughter continues to echo in your minds.
It seems like the other ape demons hear it as well as one covers his ears with his hands and the gorilla demon rolls his eyes and slaps his large ha d across his face, rubbing his temples as one might when experiencing a headache.
<hey, welcome back @grudakthemanslayer. Demon hostilities have suddenly ceased. >
General question for everyone: The demons are not attacking at the moment. Recall that the goal here is to find the doors to open the central chamber. What do you want to do?
Once the demon backflips away from Kos and he is free to move without taking an opportunity attack he will search around for a concealed or hidden door, archway, or passage that will lead them out of here.

"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
Sparhawk, seeing the demons mostly just guard their domain says, "We have no quarrel with you." Like stepping away from a bear, he moves with Kos, keeping his eyes on the creatures. "Tess, Gharzun Lets try to leave this place if these beings will allow us."
Backing out of the cavern and taking a turn, you find another set of iron double doors! Muxh like thw first, abyssal scriot is etched around them and the doors are set with bronze demons holding scrolls 📜 (same as before, but if you missed it:)

To free the one prisoned here,
For a fate worse than death is
Sure to come to fools who

You proceed down the hall, the air tingles with harmless but unsettling magic. When a creature opens the ebony door at the end of the hall, golden light flashes as the room's occupants are teleported to another part of the caverns. The door then swings closed. You have been teleported to another oart if the cavern. You stand wirh your allies at the center of a four way intersection.
You choose a direction at random and stumble into a cavern dimly lit by a multitude of candles. The walls are jagged, and the cave's floor is littered with broken skulls and splintered bones. In the center of the cave, a staircase ascends to a carved stone altar etched with leering demon faces. A sinister tome bound with black demon hide rests atop the altar.
“A friend of mine found a tomb similar to that. It possessed him and made him to terrible things. That tomb is either similar to that or one that could remove a powerful demonic foe. What do you all think we should do?”
"If it is an evil tomb then it should be destroyed, if it can be!"
Kos looks warily in the direction of the pedestal holding the book.
"At the very least it doesn't seem wise to leave it here unattended."

Gharzun remained silent through the mocking laughter of the demon, unmoved by the theatrics. When the group withdrew and passed through the golden flash of teleportation, he adjusted quickly, instincts sharpened, hammer at the ready even as new surroundings formed around them.
The cave was still, but not peaceful. He scanned the candles, the scattered bones, and finally the stone altar with its unsettling tome. His grip on his weapon didn’t tighten, but it never relaxed.
“Whatever that book is... it’s been placed, not left. That's a display.”
He moves slowly around the outer edge of the chamber, keeping his distance from the altar while studying the arrangement of the bones and the leering demon faces carved into the stone. The candles flicker, but he watches for signs of deeper enchantment—movement, shadow, breath.
“I’ve seen relics like that used to tempt, but also to seal. Could be bait. Could be a lock. Or both.”
He looks over to Sparhawk and Kos, his voice calm but cautious.
“I don’t trust it sitting there unattended. But I don’t know enough to say what it would take to destroy it—or what it would do if we tried.”
Gharzun’s eyes return to the book. He does not reach for it. Not yet.
“If it has a will of its own, touching it may be enough to give it what it wants. Could test it from range... or ward the room.”
He pauses, letting the thought hang. Then, in a lower tone, adds:
“But I’ll follow the call when it’s made. Just don’t make it lightly.”
Gharzun is checking out the book from a distance. What sort of check would you like me to make? Depending on what he figure sout, he would possibly move in closer, depending on if he can learn anything first.
A successful arcana check infoems you that the book on the altar looks like the Demonomicon of Iggwilv, the preeminent treatise on the Abyss and demons.
The siurce of the magjcal glow from the strewn bones tuens out to bw a moss green cloak, steeped in illusion magic.
”Kos, this might suit you, unless someone else has an interest. The book, if truly what you state is one of the items I must recover. In the wrong hands, all
sorts of demons have been summoned.”
(Sparhawk pulls out a bag from his backpack. He has gloved gauntlets gloves). “everyone ok with me grabbing this?”

So, are we investigating the book or ignoring rhe book? Anything with the glow feom the pile of bones?
Sparhawk will search the bones to see if there are any recoverable items that could be of help.

Tess will help search the bones and examine the book, with detect magic.
