Before Nigel can answer Drako they are joined by several other adventurers. Vibrix he is familiar with, as well as the Svirfneblin. Spotting the animated shrub he forgets all about formalities as the group exchanges pleasantries and rushes over to Willow so he can examine her bush. Having tuned out the conversing of the others, Nigel is lucky he even hears Willows warning about laying a hand on her wonderful bush.
Snatching his hand back he launches into an excited line of questioning,
"Fascinating! Is this flora or fauna, or is it magically animated? Obviously sentient. Grayantoxins, You say? Hmm.. I'd love to get a sample. Fascinating, simply fascinating."
Unconcerned with what job will be taken, he simply waves off any requests for his opinion. Grinning happily he pulls out his spell book and begins take notes and to sketch the shrub. He's so focused on his new "discovery" that he forgets all about introducing himself or greeting the rest.
With a shy smile, Magnus addresses his companions, his voice soft but determined. "While the allure of treasure in the dwarven ruins is undeniable," he begins, "my instincts tell me that our path should align with Willow's quest. The Umbrage Hill Quest resonates with the values of compassion and protection that are dear to my heart." He casts a brief glance towards Vabrix, his demeanor respectful yet resolute. "Rix, I understand your inclination towards the Dwarven Excavation Quest," he says, "but I believe that our journey should prioritize the safety and well-being of others over the pursuit of material wealth."

Willow's expression softens into one of grateful acknowledgment as Magnus voices his support for the Umbrage Hill Quest. "Magnus, your willingness to prioritize the welfare of those in need over treasures untold truly speaks to the depth of your character," she replies, her voice imbued with respect and a shared sense of purpose. "I am heartened, truly, to have your company on this quest, and I believe together, we can make a significant difference in Adabra's life."
Turning to Nigel, who is now thoroughly entranced by Herb, Willow's smile carries a hint of amusement mixed with a gentle firmness. "Nigel, I must commend your curiosity—it is indeed a rare and delightful treat to encounter a mind as eager to understand the mysteries of nature as yours,"she begins, ensuring her tone is as welcoming as it is cautionary.
"Herb is indeed a unique blend of flora and sentience, brought to life through magic that is as ancient as it is sacred. While I understand your excitement and your scholarly interest, I must ask that we respect that Herb, at least to me is not merely a specimen to be studied, but a friend and a companion on our journeys."
Herb, seeming to sense the spotlight, rustles its leaves in what might be a show of agreement or perhaps just a rustle for attention.
"To answer your questions: Herb is both flora and magically animated, possessing a consciousness granted by enchantment. As for samples, I must decline on his behalf, for his wellbeing is my utmost priority. However, I would be happy to share more about his origins and nature in a way that respects his existence."
Willow then gestures toward the group, bringing the focus back to the matter at hand. "Now, as we consider the quests before us, I hope we can all find a path that not only challenges us but also brings out the best in our abilities to aid those in need. Whether it be safeguarding a lone midwife or delving into ancient ruins, each choice we make reflects the values we hold dear."
"I suppose," says Drako, "there's a possible way to combine multiple tasks." He pauses to look at the descriptions of each job. "Adabra is said live a few miles South of this town. And the dwarves are digging in the mountains Southwest. I do wonder how far they are, if both are within a day's journey or if they're farther."
"Yes, yes, Oh of course, of course." murmurs Nigel in a bit of a mumble. He continues to sketch Herb. "Sentient fauna, fascinating. Simply fascinating." he mumbles. With out looking up he speaks out, "Matters not how far they are." Nigel clicks of his tongue and let's out a sigh before he looks about and explains himself in a bit of an "isn't obvious tone".
"Since we obviously will be completing both tasks we will do them in an order that makes sense. We will go to the dwarves first. It's the logical start. Since both lie in a southern direction we waist time going to the mid wife first. To go to her means we will have to return to town as her escort unless we take her with us to the dwarves. That is a tactical mistake for bringing the dwarves to her instead of the other way around gives us more numbers should we encounter trouble. Besides as formidable as this woman must be, she does live alone in the wilds, numbers don't lie and the odds of success increase with the higher number of party memebers."
Nigel pulls his glasses down so he can peer over the top as he looks each of those gathered in the eye.
"I suppose," says Drako, "there's a possible way to combine multiple tasks." He pauses to look at the descriptions of each job. "Adabra is said live a few miles South of this town. Drako pauses for a moment before replying, "I like the way you think, Nigel." He takes out his flail to give it a cursory glance. "Shall we ask the townmaster about where they are? I feel like I could almost hear a divine voice suggesting such a course of action."
[[ I actually hadn't been thinking of splitting the party. More that, together, we doubled up on tasks. But you just gave me a great idea! ;-P ]]
Rix looks at Nigel confused. He scratches his head. "Erm....so we go to dwarves because we don't have enough people? But Rix counts for two in combat!"

OOC: I just want to be clear that Dungeons and Dragons is just not just about combat and one liners, everyone is different in terms of how they play and post so for me to each their own in terms of play style so I'm not dictating play style, etc. But in terms of Willow's choice as to who 'she' is going to help and why is clear given her character's backstory, traits, and alighment, etc. Willow's character is thus being 'roleplayed'true to form without a conscious intent of splitting up the group. At this point one can make the case that they are not really a group yet with common goals and established friendships and connections but still a group of strangers with the potential to become a group of adventurers. Willow is only going to be convinced to seek out another job first IC rather than OOC otherwise there is nothing wrong witn doing one job forcing bonds and then going on to another job together.
Current Campaign(s): Dungeons, Darkness, Drow, and Demons, an Out of the Abyss Adventure, Dungeon Delvers, a Dungeon of the Mad Mage Adventure, Jungle of Evil, a Tomb of Annihilation Adventure
OoC: Basically, Willow expressed that she wants to help Adabra, Vabrix wants to help the dwarves, Drako said that maybe they can do both quests, Breadman misinterpreted it as wanting to split the party, vitus cleared the misunderstanding, Oddlot is conscious about dnd being a collaborative game and didn't intend to split the party, explaining that Willow is being roleplayed true to her nature and backstory.
Correct me if I'm wrong in the sequence of events.
OoC: Just wanted to make sure. There should be no issues in trying to complete both quests. And whenever everyone is ready to continue, just let me know what y'all will be doing next.
As of right now, Drako has agreed with Nigel about going to warn the Dwarves first because they're located further, and they'll 'potentially' (not guaranteed) will be escorting tem to Phandalin and can go visit Adabra (to warn her) on their way back. Rix is confused by all the words Nigel said buy agrees that dwarves come first (his own preference).
Waiting on Magnus and Willow for their input (if any).
Nigel looks to the sky then rises to his feet. Smoothing his cloths ha announces, "Well the morning wanes. If we are to complete these tasks we should be on the way with haste." Nigel removes both jobs from the board and goes inside to speak with Harbin.
"Harbin! It would seem there are some willing to do you chores for you. They will be needed directions to these locations." Nigel places the flyers on the counter along side his book now open to a rough drawn map of the area. "Simply point out the locations and we'll be on our way.
Willow listens attentively to the unfolding discussion, her expression one of calm consideration as her companions lay out their strategic plans. When Nigel springs into action, declaring the urgency of their morning and handling the task postings, Willow sees an opportunity to reaffirm her commitment and clarify the group's path forward.
"Thank you, Drako, for your strategic insights, and thank you all for considering how we might best approach these tasks without straying from our shared purpose," Willow begins, her tone imbued with gratitude and a sense of collaboration. "Nigel’s initiative in preparing our departure is commendable. As the morning wanes, it indeed behooves us to act swiftly."
Her gaze sweeps over the group, a soft smile playing at her lips as she acknowledges Nigel's efficient handling of the tasks. "I understand the tactical reasons for visiting the dwarves first, and Nigel’s point about maximizing our numbers to enhance our collective strength is well-taken."
She then shifts her stance slightly, her hands clasped before her as if embracing the weight of their decision. "While my heart leans heavily towards ensuring Adabra’s safety due to the imminent danger posed by the dragon, I trust in our group's decision to tackle the more distant threat first. It does seem logical to warn the dwarves, given their remoteness and the risks they face unknowingly."
Willow’s eyes reflect a deep-seated compassion as she continues, "However, I would urge us not to delay our visit to Adabra upon our return. As a healer and a woman of faith, I feel a profound duty to ensure no one is left in peril, especially when they are as isolated as she is."
Drawing a deep breath, she concludes with a hopeful note, "Let us proceed with a united front, bearing in mind that each step we take is a step towards safeguarding the lives of those who depend on us. Together, we can cover more ground and protect more lives, blending strength with swift action."
Magnus observes Nigel's decisive actions with a sense of admiration, appreciating the wizard's efficiency and readiness to embark on their quest without delay. With a shy smile, Magnus rises to his feet, brushing off his robes before addressing his companions.
"Nigel's right," he agrees, his voice soft but determined. "Time is of the essence if we are to complete these tasks and ensure the safety of those in need."
Magnus steps forward, his demeanor calm yet resolute. "We stand ready to face whatever challenges await us," he says, his voice carrying a quiet confidence. "With your guidance, Harbin, we shall set forth on our journey and fulfill our duties to the best of our abilities."

Drako lets out a minor content rumble. It seemed things were beginning to go into motion with this new group. "Well while Nigel goes to speak with Harbin, is there any equipment or supplies the rest of you think we should get while still in town?"
He turns to Willow, "On my honor we shall make sure to reach Adabra."
[[ I do find it humorous how we're all discussing the safety of the dwarves and Adabra. Meanwhile none of us are mentioning the gnomes. We're just like, "Eh, they can handle themselves."
Also, enabled the Harness Divine Power optional feature for Cleric. (Doesn't come online until lv2.) Hadn't taken a look at those before, but like the possibility of more spell slots via it. ]]
Willow blushes with embarrassment, "my apologies I misspoke, I meant to say was that Herb sometimes secretes grayantoxins."
Before Nigel can answer Drako they are joined by several other adventurers. Vibrix he is familiar with, as well as the Svirfneblin.
