Rix looks at Nigel and scratches his head. He leans on his glaive. He thinks for a second, then seems to have an idea. "Hey, mister dwarves! Where can I find a good dwarven axe? I'll trade my fancy staff for it" As he says this, he slings his glaive over his shoulder (OOC: Assume there is a leather strap tied to the glaive handle) and pulls out the two halve's of the quarterstaff. "See? They screw together for one large quarterstaff, or for a small person, can be used as a quarterstaff!"
Dazlyn scratches his head, thinking for a moment. "Well, lad, we don't rightly know if there be any axes lyin' about in these ruins. But if ye happen upon one down there, ye're welcome to it. No need to trade yer staff, though. Keep hold of it, might come in handy."
Norbus grunts in agreement, eyeing Vabrix warily. "Aye, we ain't seen no axes around here. But if ye find one, it's yours. Just be careful down there, don't go swingin' it around without knowin' what's what."
Rix pumps his fist into the air. "YESSS. I'm going to get myself a dwarven axe!"

Nigel looks up from his note taking suddenly remembering there is a task at hand. He looks at the darkness beyond the opening and goes back to his book. His fingers trace the indexing notches on the open side of the tome. With practiced precision he opens the book to the page containing his light spell. Focusing on both the word written in the spellbook and on the Goliaths glaive he utters the word "Illumine!".
Dazlyn scratches his head, thinking for a moment. "Well, lad, we don't rightly know if there be any axes lyin' about in these ruins. But if ye happen upon one down there, ye're welcome to it. No need to trade yer staff, though. Keep hold of it, might come in handy."

As Dazlyn and Norbus dispense their counsel to Vabrix, Willow listens with a serene attentiveness, the soft hum of possibility present in her mind. When the moment feels right, she steps slightly forward, her words flowing with a quiet grace.
"Your guidance is as sturdy as the stone halls of your ancestors," she says, her eyes glinting with a newfound confidence as she finds her place within the group. "Should we find treasures of old, it will be a testament to the perseverance that dwells within these walls and within each of us."Willow's gaze drifts thoughtfully over the relics and rubble strewn about them. A softness enters her eyes, a reflection of her inward focus. "Perhaps there is more to be unearthed here than the mere trappings of old," she muses with a gentle fervor, her voice barely rising above a whisper. "As a healer, my ways are of mending and mercy, not metal and might. I seek no axes, blades, or other weapons, but ratherthe stories etched in stone—the echoes of the past that may yet whisper wisdom to those who walk these hallowed halls."
With a slight upward curl of her lips that hints at her innocent charm, she adds, "And if our path does lead us to findings of value, may it serve as a bond, forging a kinship among us in these shadowed halls." Offering a nod to the dwarves as equals in this shared endeavor, Willow then retraces her steps to the group, ready to continue their exploration, her spirit undimmed by the echoing silence of the ruins.
OOC: Willow casts Light on her arcane focus to more easily move about and see...
Dazlyn's eyes soften at Willow's words, a faint smile touching his lips. "Well spoken, lass," he says with genuine appreciation. "Ye've got a way with words, no doubt about it. If there be stories to be found here, I reckon ye'll be the one to uncover 'em."
Norbus grunts in agreement, nodding approvingly at Willow. "Aye, that ye will, lass," he rumbles. "We'll keep an eye out for anythin' back 'ere" He gives Willow a nod of respect before turning his attention back to the task at hand.
The temple is smoothly hewn from solid rock. The following features are common throughout:
Ceilings. Ceilings throughout are 10 feet high and flat.
Doors. All doors are made of carved stone with stone pins for hinges. Secret doors blend in with the surrounding stonework. Finding a secret door requires a search of the wall and a successful DC 15 Wisdom (Perception) check. [ I will allow Investigation checks, too. ]
Dust and Debris. The temple is choked with dusty rubble. Rubble-filled squares are difficult terrain (see the Basic Rules).
Light. There are no light sources in the temple.
[ Alright, folks. Waiting on Drako's response to see how you will all proceed. I'm going to say that Vabrix will go in the front with the glaive lighting the way. Magnus will be in front of Nigel again. ]
Drako is ready to proceed. He'll keep an eye out for odd spots in the walls.
He thanks Nigel and Willow for lighting the way. He'll go before Willow, being close in case something comes from behind and to keep and Herb company.
"So, Willow," he says as they begin to proceed to make light conversation, "I know you've talked a lot about your healing prowress, but how do you think you'll fare in a fight?" He looks at Herb, "For that matter him. He's feisty little guy and very protective of you, but I am concerned for his frailty if he tries getting in the thick of things."

Willow listens to Drako’s inquiry, her expression contemplative amid the dance of torchlight on her face. She paces just behind him, the presence of Herb a comforting constant at her side.
"I'm touched by your concern, Drako,"Willow responds, her voice a soft melody of thanks. "Combat is far from my wish; my gifts lie in mending wounds, not making them. Though I've woven a handful of limited protective spells into my repertoire, I am more akin to a candle's flame amidst the tempest—fleeting and fragile. Nevertheless, I'm resolved to meet whatever comes with courage, standing shoulder to shoulder with this company."
Her gaze lowers to Herb, and a smile warms her features. "And Herb, he is my sweethuckleberry," she says with a tender chuckle, "although he lacks a warrior's frame, he possesses a spirit mightier than the mightiest oak. Indeed, he's as tenacious as an immortal weed, always sprouting anew. Should misfortune befall him, the magic that twines our souls will call him back to my side as a familiar. In that, there's a comfort, knowing he'll outlast us all."
The determination in Willow's voice weaves through the corridor as they advance, her stance one of gentle readiness. She keeps to Drako's side, a beacon of calm and a whisper of quiet strength amid the ancient echoes of the ruins.

OOC: Willow Investigation Check (from character sheet) 18...
Wllow, as you carefully investigate the southern wall of the Foyer, your hand presses up against a stone that gives in, and a hidden door is revealed. You see the following if you proceed down this hidden hallway:
[ Since nothing dangerous is going to happen, I will show you the following. ]
Drako: Your perception check, using Rix's illuminated glaive to aid you, reveals a trail or slime that makes its way up the northern door within the corridor that Willow found. Whatever left the trail (using the same perception check result), is definitely close. Maybe too close.
Willow: Herb detached itself from Rix momentarily as he bravely moves onto the room to the far east of the corridor in front of you. Inside, you see the following:
An earthquake collapsed part of this room, which holds another dwarven corpse. This one holds a pouch containing 5 gems worth 10gp each.
Nigel: There are no more hidden doors that you can find. However, with the history check you have rolled, and given your Jeweler's Tools proficiency, you can easily identify the symbol on the gems Willow and Herb have discovered.
The symbol of Abbathor, The Great Master of Greed. And you realize, that the ruins you walk on were once an old temple of Abbathor. During solar eclipses, Abbathor is appeased with sacrifices of blood and gemstones. You begin to wonder if maybe the calamity that buried this temple was a natural disaster, or the ire of an unsatisfied God.
Everyone: You have found all there is to find before entering the Temple proper. Decide which doorway Rix will enter from first to begin the encounter with the Oozes within once you are all ready The southern door has evidence of an Ooze extremely nearby. The main doorway did not.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Drako says, "I recommend we try the main doorway. The more, space between us and an ooze, the better we should be able to maneuver ourselves."
--- Management for Rix ---
Whichever way the party goes, Rix will accept a quick blessing of guidance from Drako and then attempt to burst through like the Koolaid Man while shouting, "I adoor fighting!"
Nigel agrees with Drako and follows Vabrix to the correct door.
On the way he shares his knowledge of the gem.

As the revelations of the temple's ominous past and the hidden dangers it holds unfurl before them, Willow, her expression composed yet thoughtful, hands the gems she and Herb found to Nigel. "Nigel, perhaps these will offer further insight," she suggests softly, trusting his scholarly prowess to discern more about their nature and history.
As they discuss the potential paths ahead, Willow's eyes briefly trace the contours of the walls that have borne witness to such ancient secrets. "If this place is indeed steeped in the lore of Abbathor, we must tread with the utmost care,"she advises, her voice barely above a whisper, as if reluctant to disturb the slumbering echoes of the past. "The gems, the sacrifices... they tell a story of reverence and fear."
Turning to Herb, who had ventured briefly away, she gives a small nod of appreciation for his boldness. "Well done, Herb,"she murmurs, a hint of relief in her tone for his safe return. "Stay close now."
Addressing Drako's suggestion, Willow inclines her head in agreement. "The main doorway seems prudent,"she concurs. "Distance may grant us a moment's advantage, allowing us to better understand and perhaps counter what lies ahead."
Her gaze meets each of her companions' in turn, seeking a consensus. "Let us proceed with both wisdom and caution. These ruins hold not just the remnants of a lost civilization but also the perils tied to forgotten gods. We must be as prepared to face the legacy of Abbathor's greed as we are to encounter the creatures that now dwell within these walls."
As the group makes their final preparations to enter the Temple proper, Willow's hand rests lightly on her healer's kit, ready to mend wounds or soothe fears, her presence a steady beacon amidst the swirling uncertainties of their quest.
