Seeing that the area is currently clear of obvious threats and given the fact that these are presumably the dwarves they are looking for, Nigel breaks his connection and hurries to meet the two prospectors.

[He'll get there next turn I assume.]
[There are no turns. Move about as you see fit. If we ever get into any combat, I will let everyone know that movement is restricted to turns.]
Magnus would approach the dwarves with a serene demeanor, his voice carrying a calm and reassuring tone. "Greetings, good dwarves. I am Magnus, a druid and, currently, adventurer traveling with my new friend here (gesturing to Vabrix)." He would then proceed to explain their purpose, saying, "We've journeyed from Phandalin on a mission of warning. A dragon has been sighted in these skies, and we've come to ensure your safety."
Rix nods at the dwarves. He still doesn't trust them, so he keeps his handaxes in hand.
OOC: Can I make my quarterstaff fancy? Because carrying an 8 foot long pole is annoying, especially when I'm wielding a glaive in combat. I was thinking the quarterstaff could be unscrewed into two 4 foot segments that could then be stowed in special sheaths. What do you think? If not, Rix will just give the quarterstaff to someone.

Dazlyn, his forthright nature evident, speaks up first. "Aye, we cannae just abandon all we've worked for, but nor can we ignore the threat of a dragon. It's a tricky situation, to be sure." Norbus, his gruff demeanor softened by concern, nods in agreement.
Then, after a brief discussion between themselves, Dazlyn turns back to the adventurers. "Listen, we're in a bind. We cannae leave without securing our findings, but we cannae face a dragon alone. If ye'd be willing to lend us a hand and clear out the beasts in yon temple, we'd be more than happy to part with our sending stones. A fair exchange, I'd say."

Willow trails slightly behind the others, her every step a delicate interplay of caution and wonder. Her eyes, a soft hue reminiscent of the clear skies above, carry an innocence that belies the crumbling stones and whispered histories around her. The dwarves’ sturdy forms against the backdrop of ruins offer a contrast that intrigues her gentle spirit.
She advances with a quiet grace, as if each footfall is a verse in a silent hymn of exploration. The light touch of her fingers upon her attire is not just a calming gesture but a silent language of her innate composure and attentiveness.
"Greetings, Dazlyn and Norbus,"Willow begins, her voice carrying the melody of a distant and peaceful past. "I am Willow Fitzroy, devoted to arts of healing and the serenity of the living world. Your valorous demeanor amidst these storied stones is a sight of great assurance. And should you, or those with you, require aid in the form of healing, know that my skills are yours to freely call upon at any time."
Her lips curve into a tentative gentle and wholely innocent smile, the corners of her eyes crinkling with sincerity. "The sight of you, steadfast and unyielding in these ruins, instills a sense of safety I scarce thought to find in such a place. Your welcome is as a hearth's warmth on a cold night."
Willow allows her gaze to linger just a moment longer than necessary, a silent acknowledgment of the rugged appeal that dwarves like these possess—an aesthetic of strength and resilience that she finds both admirable and... strangely comforting reflecting the profound respect she holds for their kind—an admiration born not of mere physicality but of the enduring essence of their race.
With a grace that speaks of both her upbringing and the tranquility that guides her, Willow steps back, allowing the others their space to converse. Yet, her aura of calm and unspoken allure lingers, like the afterglow of sunset, subtly illuminating her companionship and readiness to aid in their mission.
He'd prefer to have the dwarves back in safety. Plus sending stones could be useful for communications on the dragon's whereabouts.
But he also thinks about how he promised Willow they'd help the midwife. And that fighting monsters may delay them to having to journey in the dark. (Though the possibility of getting to her before or shortly after dark and staying the night could work too, probably quick march.)
Nigel arrives beside the rest just in time to hear the dwarves proposition.
"Beasts you say!? Well this bears further investigation! Could be a worthy entry for my book! Oh, uuuh...I mean, yes of course we should help. Wouldn't be right to leave you exsposed to danger " Nigel proclaims. Archie Flys from his Rock perch to land on Nigels shoulder.
[ I'm assuming you are all willing to help, so I will let you all proceed as you see fit. ]
Dazlyn scratches his beard, looking relieved but still wary. "Aye, that's a load off our minds, it is. We'll be here, keeping watch. Just give a shout if ye need any help or if ye find anything of value down there."
Norbus grunts in agreement, adjusting his grip on his pickaxe. "Aye, but be careful down there. These creatures might not look like much, but they're tougher than ye might think. And mind the altar inside. That's where we found the first one, and it weren't a pretty sight."
[ Dazlyn and Norbus would warn you about large, ooze creatures within the temple. Because they rely on darkvision, they saw everything in shades of grey and cannot describe what kind of ooze it is. ]
The temple is smoothly hewn from solid rock. The following features are common throughout:
Ceilings. Ceilings throughout are 10 feet high and flat.
Doors. All doors are made of carved stone with stone pins for hinges. Secret doors blend in with the surrounding stonework. Finding a secret door requires a search of the wall and a successful DC 15 Wisdom (Perception) check. [ I will allow investigation checks, too. ]
Dust and Debris. The temple is choked with dusty rubble. Rubble-filled squares are difficult terrain (see the Basic Rules).
Light. There are no light sources in the temple.
Moving past Dazlyn and Norbus, you will enter the Dusty Foyer area.
Spikes hammered into the floor hold open two sets of double doors. A once-secret door to the north stands open, with a room beyond it holding nothing but rubble.
Anyone interested in looking for secret doors, may do so.
"Absolutely fascinating! You must tell me everything about your encounter." Nigel takes his book from it's satchel, grabs a pencil and begins to pepper the dwarves with questions. "Size? shape? How did it approach you? Do you have a carcass I could study? Did it make any sounds? Really you must tell me everything."
Rix looks at Nigel and scratches his head. He leans on his glaive. He thinks for a second, then seems to have an idea. "Hey, mister dwarves! Where can I find a good dwarven axe? I'll trade my fancy staff for it" As he says this, he slings his glaive over his shoulder (OOC: Assume there is a leather strap tied to the glaive handle) and pulls out the two halve's of the quarterstaff. "See? They screw together for one large quarterstaff, or for a small person, can be used as a quarterstaff!"

Dazlyn scratches his head, thinking for a moment. "Well, lad, we don't rightly know if there be any axes lyin' about in these ruins. But if ye happen upon one down there, ye're welcome to it. No need to trade yer staff, though. Keep hold of it, might come in handy."
Norbus grunts in agreement, eyeing Vabrix warily. "Aye, we ain't seen no axes around here. But if ye find one, it's yours. Just be careful down there, don't go swingin' it around without knowin' what's what."

[For some reason I don't see any of the notifications of this forum anymore, but I'll just check back later. Gonna be gone for a few hours.
In the meantime, whoever hasn't reacted to meeting Dazlyn and Norbus can share that and then as a group decide whether to help them or not.
They are insistent on staying until they clear the ruins, and will most likely not follow you all back to Phandalin willingly.
However, you only needed to warn them to complete the quest. Just bringing proof to Harbin will be enough to claim the reward.
Would you help them or return to Phandalin?]
