Damros tilts his chair back on two legs and balances precariously against the table, "Perhaps we need a spiritualist or someone who works with those fortune telling cards or a parrot it can possess and speak through... perhaps a deck of card of words it can shuffle through?"
He shrugs, "This is my first exposure to an unseen spirit tavern keeper."
Sehaethas' (well Kylaski's currently) drink lifts up in response to Kylaski.
Some of the drink is poured out onto the table, and you see three letters appear on the table using the drink a bit like ink. It is a bit hard to make out as the whole table is a bit wet from the first drink being spilt, but you think it is the letters L I F
She pours a little of her own beer into the table to see what letters come next. Hopefully it's not a whole paragraph, because she was quite enjoying that beer.
'Well, it's a pleasure to have you around, Lif, seems The Pact and Poltergeist has itself a worthy barkeep!' Xaulsmiles and asks 'Is there anything you want in payment for your service? And are you bound to this inn, or free to roam? Feel free to write it all out in the beer, though we should probably purchase a notepad...'
Damros looks about the room, "Will we be waiting all night for Mirt to show up? If that's the case, I'd prefer taking a rest instead of drinking until I am under the table." Damros rises and bows to all in the room. "When Mirt shows up, let out a yell." He proceeds to go upstairs to his bedroll.
Rather amusingly, as Damros leaves by the back door to start making his way upstairs (for one of the last times now renovation works are confirmed to be starting imminently), Mirt knocks on the door having got your message. He keeps his coat on and stays standing, making it clear his intentions that this is a flying visit while he waits for information on your mission
“She may be a talking horse, but she’s not much of a thinking horse,” says Skye, unkindly.
”Your information is right but your subterfuge is subverted. We ran into the two named Zhent in the Yawning Portal, they say they talked loudly to make sure the horse got their message back to you and they want to set up a meeting to prevent further gang warfare. Trust them or throw them; seems like a courier would be easier and cheaper.” She shrugs. “Now you know.”
"I am not a night owl, though I do find myself conducting one business or another at all sorts of time of day. I assure you I will be heading home to sleep after this meeting, having spent the whole day meeting various people. But I saw your note as I got home and felt rude to keep you waiting longer. As for the horse, I will be honest with you, we already know what Maxeene had to say, it was more a test of you than a true desire of knowledge. But you were certainly foolish to try talk to Zhents. I personally do not trust them, but yes we are aware of Davil in the Yawning Portal and he is under surveillance. He has not done anything to warrant further action against him. It does not surprise me that he is aware of this but from the sounds of it, he is just going to drop hints until we make a move to reach out to him. I expect he will be waiting a while for that then. Actions speak louder than words so although we haven't witnessed him acting against the city, we need to see him acting for the city before taking him seriously."
He hands over a pouch of 50 dragons. "I know we agreed 25 dragons, but as your story matched our reports, even after we saw you talking to Davil and therefore suspected you might be trying to hide the information from us and were giving him warnings, I feel it is fair to double it as thanks."
She asks the Spirit, "Are you a Poltergeist?" But she neglects to say how to indicate yes or no.

"Lif," says Skye. "Lif...? Lift? Life? Lifeblood?"

No further letters appear. But those three get underlined by the new beer

"Is that your name?" asks Kylaski.
The drink lifts up again

“Chalk and blackboard would be good,” offers Skye.
Xaul's questions seem too complicated, but then the mug raises for Skyes suggestion.

Skye nods her good night. After her rest following their earlier fight, she has a few more hours in her compared to the others.

Kylaski starts out with, "We found the talking horse!"
{She's not so good at filling in the details...}

Damros comes back into the main tavern area. "Are you purposely keeping us from a good night's sleep? Or are you by nature a Night Owl?"
Once Skye and Keylaski say their piece, he will fill in the details as best he can. "What next? Speaking with the birds at the center fountain?"
Xaul doesn't particularly engage with Mirt at all, and lets the party fill him in on what intel has been gathered.

Kaylaski's eyes sparkle with the added treasure, even though she doesn't have anything to do with the finances.
