The sturdy older woman keeps up with the group well, not really matching thought of a frail granny her silver hair evokes. "We'll for sure find some people who need help there, maybe they'll even pay us."
You have been traveling a road that winds lazily across the rolling grasslands of the Greenfields. Sundown is approaching when you top a rise and see the town of Greenest just a few short miles away. But instead of the pleasant, welcoming town you expected, you see columns of black smoke rising from burning buildings, running figures that are little more than dots at this distance, and a dark, winged shape wheeling low over the keep that rises above the center of the town. Greenest is being attacked by a dragon!
Smarts eyes narrow to slits as she spots the shape. The kobold fishes a piece of cured leather out of her pouch. While tugging and twisting the material, she's already in a run for the next house. "Get to cover!" she yells. On the way there, she casts mage armor on herself.
She will either enter a building if possible. If not, she looks for any other roofed area that provides visual cover from the sky. All the while, she tries to catch glimpses of the shape, trying to see what kind of dragon it was, how big it was.
Zenfis looks around the grasslands surrounding them for some sort of cover and moves off of the road. "The towns people are going to need help, but where did that dragon come from?" He'll look for cover along the rest of their approach to the city, moving to the closest thicket of trees or the like if possible. He grips a javelin in one hand as he moves.
Heiboros's fists clench as he catches sight of the dragon. He begins charging forward, ready to destroy it with his shortsword in hand. As he charges forward, he shouts, "Foul beast! You terrorize those who are helpless, come and fight with those who can! Or are you too much of a coward, chromatic beast?"
Balasar actually smiled just a little at the sight of the burning buildings. Although almost as soon as the avarice inspired reaction came to be did it too quickly flee upon seeing the dragon! But rather than naked fear or awe taking its place, his expression instead hardened into one of grim resolve.
"Tch! Of all the -- Wait! Smart! Heiboros! Don't just--"The dragonborn stops there with scowl upon realizing his words would fall ond deaf ears. So instead he turns to the hopefully and only slightly less suicidal granny and says, "Looks like you got your wish. Cover looks too sparse along the way, but we need to be after them."On that note, Balasar took off after Heiboros.

You all arrive at the town by sunset. Heiborors in the lead by 30 feet. It is dim light out between the burning buildings and the half moon
You run in past the main gate and to an intersection. In the distance you see buildings on fire
Without warning, five humans dash out from between two buildings on your left. A limping man and three young children race across the street into more shadows, and a woman carrying a round shield and a broken spear turns and faces back in the direction from which they came. Seven kobolds stream out of the alley on the family’s heels and fan out around the woman, who looks determined to delay the creatures for as long as possible.
You can tell the kobolds are not paying your group any attention. If you choose to attack the kobolds give me initative rolls
Kobolds! 'No doubt the mindless minions of that dragon they saw before', Smart fumes internally. She stomps up to the kobolds, anger blazing in her red eyes. She didn't have much direct compassion for the woman, but she wouldn't stand by a crime being committed either, especially not by her own kind.
Smart addresses the seven in draconic: "Stop right there you dim-wits! What do you think you're doing, going around and destroying property. You think you're serving a dragon? You think it will reward you? Think for yourselfes! All this monster is going to do is eat you and use you as cannon fodder. You're better than that!"
Zenfis will interpose himself between the kobolds and the humans. He'll look at Smart a little confused as he doesn't understand what Smart said. (Rolled a 15 for initiative)
Heiberos runs over to the Kobolds and prepares to battle them, raising his fists into the air. Though he doesn't understand what's being said, he realizes Smart is communicating with them and doesn't immediately attack.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Initiative: 1.
Balasar clicked his tongue, entertaining for just a moment using the others as bait while he possibly circled around for some better position or other. But almost as soon as the thought occurs to him was it dismissed with a growl of frustration. 'What a waste. Waukeen give me strength' He further thought while adjusting his course with every intent on engaging the kobolds. ["Back off, welps! Those humans are mines!"] He yelled in draconic, hoping to sow some fear, if not outright confusion in the raiders ranks.

The Kobolds pause for a moment momentarily distracted from their task. The seven Kobolds turn to face Smart but before any of them can respond the woman with the broken spear attacks the closest kobald.
Smart is up first (ooc: when you attack roll attack and damage)
It is dark other than burning buildings and the light of the half moon. You're at an intersection, the intersection is 40 feet across. The man and the three children are on the western side of the intersection with the woman with the spear interposed in front of them. The Kobolds are spaced out around the people in a half semi-circle, 5 ft gaps between each one. All except for the one the woman stabbed is currently looking at smart. The looks on their faces is that of confusion. Smart is 10 foot way from the closest one the rest of the group of 15-20 feet away There is buildings on the corners of both side of the street. The one on the eastern side of the road is currently on fire.
Smart continues cussing at the kobolds, making a big show of how utterly irresponsible and asinine their undertaking is. She waves her book around as if she would want to bludgeon one of them with the pure force of the written word, using draconic cry ¹. She tries to be intimidating about it, but because of the chaos, she probably comes over as just another raving kobold [Intimidation 1].
¹ As a bonus action, you let out a cry at your enemies within 10 feet of you. Until the start of your next turn, you and your allies have advantage on attack rolls against any of those enemies who could hear you.
Though not intimidating, you do have the attention of all the Kobolds. Also your cry affects 2 kobolds so if anyone attacks the 2 kobolds next to Smart roll with advantage
next in turn order is: Zenfis
