a) I think I'm caught up on everyone's character info! If I've missed anything, though, definitely let me know.
b) And one other thing from me, gang: you may have already seen me offer this, if you’re far enough along in pre-game character relationship discussions, but I just wanted to note for the record that if anyone’s eager to do a little pre-party RP to help establish a connection or two, definitely let me know. This will all be very bare bones on my end as I work on getting the main game started and help out with the remaining character work / questions, but if it’s something you’d like to try out before jumping into the actual game, I’m happy to do so. (I can also do a little one-on-one situation, if you have a specific backstory moment you want to build out while getting used to your character's style — still pretty bare bones, though.)
That said, there may be a couple threads popping up in the PBP forum with some people’s prequel stories, for anyone who’s interested. To avoid spoiling some surprises, I’d suggest keeping gazes averted when its comes to any mini prequel stories that don’t include your characters! Obviously I can’t technically stop you from looking, but I do think it would all be a little more fun, down the line.
Again, this is very much (!!!) NOT obligatory. I just wanted to make it clear that it’s an option that’s available to everyone. (Also, if you'd specifically prefer to have me send over those scenario/personality-centric questions, I can just focus on that for you!) I’m also aware that — given the way PBP has a tendency to drag on — it may be that these threads aren’t wrapped up by the time we’re all ready to start the game. That’s okay! Once the game starts, you can either continue them to help fill in background, or leave them behind, if you think they’ve really already served their purpose, and you just want to focus on the main game.
Participation should only ever take a "whatever's fun!" approach, so you tell me what makes sense for you and your schedule, and that's what we'll do. (And if I don't hear otherwise, I'll assume you're character prepping and waiting for that sweet, sweet main campaign content -- and also, you know, having a life, and a schedule that does not involve fictional characters -- and won't set up anything extra.)
As people really begin finalizing their character stuff, I'll go ahead and set a date for the first day of our main campaign, but please, don't feel any urgent pressure; it's been absolutely awesome learning more and more about each of these characters through their stages of development, so, for what it's worth, I'm already having the time of my life.
@tridentarii I’m always down for whatever the group prefers, If any of my pre-game connections want to do RP, I’ll be happy to do it. If not, I'm okay with that too.
Same goes for any one-on-ones for backstory-building or scenario/personality-centric questions. I definitely have more than enough time on my hands to do it either way, and I'm always down for a good time. :) Also, Thanks for the warning. I’ll make sure to avert my eyes if anyone’s story pops up. :p And before I forget. I’m almost done organizing my character’s timeline and information. I‘ll make sure to let you know once it’s done. 👍

Awesome! Thanks for the notes on all of this, and will keep an eye out for the timeline/info. :)
@Cacs, no, not at all! You’re good, and this looks perfect!
On that note, once everyone has some sort of consolidated timeline/backstory finalized and made available somewhere, along with a completed character sheet, just let me know so I can have a quick last look at everything. Again, no rush! There’s plenty to do in the meantime — this is just so I can organize myself / consolidate everything, and make sure I haven’t missed anything.
Anyway, I hope everyone’s had a really lovely weekend!

@tridentarii, yay!!! I'm glad you like it! If there's anything else you need me to do, lemme know. 😊
Hey gang, me again: since I think it'd be nice to have all in one place for everyone to reference (and since I think it'd be fun to do an official little pre-game reveal), if you wouldn't mind posting a brief character overview in this thread once you've finished your backstory and character sheet, that'd be great! After they've all been posted, I'll collect them into a google doc to share and for future reference.
I'm not expecting this to be overly descriptive -- just the basics! Something like the below works, but feel free to add/adjust to suit your needs -- Name: Pronouns: Age: Race/Class: Impressions: (What acquaintances or people they've met a handful of times might notice about them, personality-wise or otherwise.) Silly little fact: (You don't have to do this, but just any random little thing you want to share about them, for fun. It could be something like: what they'd call their autobiography; the reason they they loathe the Renewal Festival; their opinions about the (objectively, obviously) best fruit; the first two lines of the sonnet they wrote when they were 10; and so on. Just something goofy.)
And if you have character art, or character art inspiration, or any sort of image, you can definitely include that, too!
Name: Luma Tsaer Pronouns: She/her Age: 100 years old Race/Class: Pallid elf, Moon cleric
Impressions: After meeting Luma a couple of times, people would likely find her very warm and approachable. They might also notice her enthusiasm and how easily excitable she can be, which could come across as a bit naive. However, those who pay closer attention would probably recognize that she simply sees an opportunity for a good time in most things.
Silly little fact: Luma's trick to memorize her spells is to give them nicknames. For example, in her mind, Guidance is “Divine Nudge”, Cure Wounds is “Boo-Boo Begone”, Spare the Dying is “Not Today”, etc.
Name: Xintris Celeblass Pronouns: they/them Age: 146 Race/Class: Pallid elf, artificer Impressions: Xintris is very focused on his work and takes great pride in it, and that can lead them to ignore other things and details. They're not always that perceptive to others body language or social cues, but they are also very creative. Silly little fact: They wouldn't tell this to anyone, but they've named all their favourite tools, and might sometimes refer to them as if they have personalities when writing notes.
Impressions: Jojo’s got a loud mouth and a big personality, but a big heart. He likes to showboat, and coming from a background as an entertainer, he can get into his persona a little bit too readily. But anyone who's spent an extended period of time with him can tell that he’s got a lot on his mind.
Silly little fact: Jojo was dubbed the accolade “the Ruffest, Tuffest Man in the West” by his company’s Ringmaster in a dream, only to propose it in real life afterwards and get approval. He does not find it corny in the slightest.
Impressions: Overall, Nem is a lover and way less of a fighter. Preferring to fight with words and awesome dance moves, Nemira focuses on changing how people perceive things. That isn't to say she can't back up her actions with some magic when needed, but her goal is to make friends with everyone. Or at least soften people's hearts. Looking closer at Nem, she's clearly not a full-blooded drow. This allows her to have all the perks of being a half elf while also be ppling susceptible to the downside of being part drow.
Silly Little Fact: When in doubt, everything can be fixed with a good cup of tea! Nem carries a pouch with various leaves she likes to stick up as she travels. Everyone likes hot leaf water, right?
Name: Harliblith Pronouns: she/her Age: 22 Race/Class: Bugbear/Sorcerer Impressions: People who have just met Harliblith will notice that she's somewhat gruff and taciturn. However, spend even a little bit more time with her and they'll realize that though she acts as though she doesn't care about anything and like she has no emotions, she's actually quite sensitive to how she thinks others might perceive her. Silly little fact: You know how some people are obsessed with cats, or the color purple? Harliblith loves moths.
(sorry, the coloring is super messy because i just did it slapdash to have something on her character sheet)
Hey all! I know we've got a couple final details being hammered out to finish up characters, but since we're reaching finishing touches stages on those, I just wanted to do a quick check in with everyone, and present a couple options as I get preparations for our game wrapped up. I know there are a few of you still writing out pre-party meeting threads, so with that in mind, I'm thinking:
There's option a: as soon as everyone's #officially finished up their characters, if the two pre-party threads are still in the thick of it, I could run a very small little pre-game Hupperdook meeting/adventure for the three of you not currently writing a prologue thread (so that'd be Cacs, Yello, Vet). That would be run simultaneously with the other prologue threads, and once it's wrapped up, we'd all jump into the main game.
Or, if everyone would prefer, there's option b: we jump straight in to the main adventure, in which case we'd plan to wrap up characters/loose ends/etc. by around the end of next weekend. (And then, if pre-game threads are still going, we could either either continue those and they'll function as a bit of a flashback while we play the main game to fill in some history gaps, or we/you could just talk out the rest / the general direction that those threads would have taken, and we can end them.)
I'm happy to go either way, so definitely let me know what's most comfortable for you and we'll go from there. I absolutely can't wait to see everyone's characters in action! Thanks so much for taking this journey with me.
@tridentarii, thank YOU for organizing all of this!! 😊 As for your question, I'd be happy with either. I have loads of free time so, I'd definitely be available for any pre-game moments if anyone wants to do it. 👍
Thanks so much to all of you! Very much noted; once I've gotten feedback from the rest of the group, I'll set up a configuration/potential start date and we can go from there.
Great! And now that I've officially touched base with everyone, it seems like we’ll plan to jump into the game ASAP. As a very annoying FYI, my June has ended up looking much busier than I was anticipating (last-minute work trip, friend’s wedding, etc.), so there may be more inconsistency this month than normal — I know it’s not the most ideal way to kick off a campaign, but I’ll be sure to keep you updated on my schedule, and check in as much as is possible. And, honestly, I’d also just really love to dive into things!
So if no one objects, I’ll plan to get things started on June 2 (likely in the evening). On that day, I’ll go ahead and post an IC thread, the first post of which will include some guidelines for the game/formatting/etc., and then we’ll kick things off from there. (I may also reach out and note who you may have had a quick encounter with in Hupperdook before this, if you’re staying in the same inn, etc. etc.) If you have any questions in advance, or if there’s anything more you want to talk through re: characters, please let me know — and if there are any issues at all with the timing, or if anything’s come up, definitely let me know that too. I can’t wait to help pave your way through your adventure!

@Yello: Awesome, noted!
@Clod: Sounds great, and yes, of course no problem at all -- I hope you have a nice trip/weekend!
Had a pretty busy night/morning, but preparing to settle in to catching up on everyone's updates. Thanks to all of you for putting so much into this!!

I think I lean more toward option B just so the party can get together sooner rather than later.
But I have no issue with A if people need some extra to to figure stuff out!
Thanks so much to all of you! Very much noted; once I've gotten feedback from the rest of the group, I'll set up a configuration/potential start date and we can go from there.
I am also of the mind we jump right into things, but appreciate the effort being put in :>
