Having slipped from the company if his militia escort, Krikas freely explores the tunnel. He creeps towards the light at the end of the tunnel. It occurs to him that he needs to inform the others if the note he found. The festivities of the night before had caused him to forget the news. At least we can keep an eye on these brigands he thinks as he approaches the end of the corridor.
As Briar helps with moving the dead he attempts to make casual conversation with the scarred man. "So I heard there were a lot of goblin issues before Harbin hired you guys. You been a mercenary company roaming around before? Curious how you came to Phandalin."
To Aelinn he says, "Don't worry, lass. I can help you with moving them."
She took hold of an arm and Briar took the other one. They dragged the dwarf to the lift to find Rusty putting all the redbands acquisitions on it. One of the mercenaries standing at the winch waiting.
When they are all on the wagon I'm going hunting, we need enough food for the villagers and the dwarves. The way that they are stripping everything feels a little ghoulish to me. It's also obvious that some of them have been here before. She whispered.
Felmar watches on, stoic and gruff as the pair continue to kick over and toss the goods about. Its obvious there is nothing here of any interest and they don't put much effort into actually collecting of piling any goods. The two of them glance up every now and then to ensure the Dwarf is still with them.
Dropping off the dwarf, the construct just stands motionless, you aren't even able to tell if he is looking at anything in particular or if he is even operational. The guard assigned to stay with Rusty at the lift is looking a little unnerved by the motionless man of wood and steel. Despite the fact he is suddenly alone with the three of you he actually looks a little relieved by the company. A young man with cherubic features he smiles hesitantly as you lower the Dwarf.
Krikas moves along the short passage, it is not long yet the entrance is tight, tucked behind a fold of rock he needs to remove his pack and carry it through. Emerging on to the ledge, before him are the corpses of 2 dead raiders, a large dried bloody wound on one where a javelin was embedded. To the right is the ladder and main entrance.
"Got it" Krikas says softly as he puts together he whole map of the cave in his head. He quickly searches the bodies and retrieves the javelin. He returns, through the tight crevice and moves to meet up with his pair of militia.
Aelinn and Briar continue to move the dead hostages, just the 5 of them. Arfrid had searched each of them, and obviously failed to find anything.
In the winch room they piled the dead on the lift, it was full. Aelinn tries to talk to Rusty Would you go down with the lift and move the bodies for us Rusty?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Briar and Aelinn drop off another body then head back for the last. Felmar watches as the pile grows, one of the militia gathering it and taking it to the lift. The militia continue to give off strange vibes, watching surreptitiously, subtle glances. Krikas looks over the ledge then heads back inside.
Felmar, make a perception check DC: 21
Watching the militai before you she finishes kicking through the last of the bed area and chests. The sound of a scuffed footfall behind you suddenly draws your attention, too close, too subtle you spin, exactly what you have been waiting for. The Militia man, the one that took the goods away has crept up behind you. A long dagger in his hands he lunges towards you.

Briar and Aelinn Make a Perception check DC: 5
Heading back to grab the last dead caravan driver you spot Arfrid, waiting, clearly done inspecting the body he glares at you, "Where is the map?' he asks sternly. "Doesnt matter, we will take it from your corpse.
A shadow to the side, you spot one of the militia, hidden behind a stacked crate, a bow in his hands, the twang of the string hurtles an arrow towards you.
You have not been surprised, please reply using a spoiler entitled DM. Roll initiative and describe your first action.
Aelinn unclasps her cloak and dives into a roll bringing her towards the crates (Acrobatics 17). A throwing knife aimed at the archers eyes to hit 21, damage 6.
Subtly joining the two militia still searching the sleeping chamber, Krikas edges his way around the cavern. He picks up a bedroll and makes an unnecessarily loud coughing noise as if announcing his presence. Knowing full well they are searching in vain for a map he decides to poke the bear a little. "So what's this map y'all are looking for? Whys it so important. I mean if you want a map to hidden treasure I think you're best served somewhere on the Coast." He takes a breath before hurtling into his next speech. "It reminds me of that time I was in Candlekeep helping some old fool with translating an ancient text. I came across a map there. It was really only a crude drawing, but a map nonetheless. You want me to scribble that one out for you?" He continues with his jibber jabber as they give up searching and head back to the lift. He smiles to himself as the militia pass him with a frustrated look on their face.
Despite his uncertainty about the situation, Rusty enjoys listening to the human talk about his home like, and particularly his "ma". As the other is fully capable of filling the silence, the construct works without comment or query. He trusts that the others will give him some kind of verbal or nonverbal instruction if he should do anything else.

Krikas heads back towards the sleeping chamber, where he was supposed to be the entire time. Mounting the large carved steps he begins to jibber jabber. As he continues to the point of candle, he reaches the top landing and stops. The room is empty. It appears untouched, the militia, if they were here didn't stop to take or move a thing. Briar bellows a war cry from the room next door.
"By Torm's grace we'll free Phandalin from your scourge."
Felmar stares at the militia woman across the room. She has completely given up searching and just stands there with a small smile on her face. A satisfied smug expression. A yell, a bellow from Briar, far across the cavern grabs the dwarf's attention, he glances over towards the distraction. The flash of a knife in the dark, the returning militia man crept up, slowly, silently, unseen.
Unseen militia attacking Felmar from the shadows, surprised: Attack: 21 Damage: 3
Briar and Aelinn return for the last body, not surprised, relieved in fact that the facade has dropped. The farce played so poorly has come to an end. Arfrid demands "the Map, we will take it from your corpse". Briar will have none of that, a smile as he charges forward a growing embodiment of his lords wrath. Snapping his hammer out it collides, a jolt of negative energy slamming into the no longer smug Arfrid. The man grunts in pain, twitches as jolts rush through him. Gritting his teeth, Arfrid meets the charging halfling his scimitar in his hands slashing high and low, mostly low.

Aelinn tumbles, the cloak thrown tot he side captures the arrow, entangling it and carrying it harmlessly by. The militia man is not so lucky. Aeilinns dagger thuds into the mans face, just below the eye. The man hollers in pain. Dropping his bow he dives over the crates to intercept the dashing rogue. A second steps from the shadows, another arrow flies with patience and timing to catch the tumbling Half-elf.

The echoes of a bellowing War cry, grunts of pain and metal on metal bring sudden life to this otherwise forlorn cavern. Rusty looks up upon hearing it, the militia kid stops talking, he looks at Rusty with a hint of nervousness. Pulling his short sword from its scabbard the kid takes cover behind the winch.
The sounds of battle are clear, and unmistakable. The militia all along tried to get you to separate, Now they have taken their chance.
Briar lets out a grunt as Arfrid slashes into him. He grips the warhammer with both hands. A shame his shield isn't donned from its unwieldiness during attending to the bodies, but at least it would give him leverage. He strikes out, making use of his smaller size to aim low.
