Feeling the tiredness suddenly come upon her, she nods at Fieslius' remarks. And with his help, she looks around, trying to see if there is anything she can see that might give her a clue as to which way is west. (Survival - normal roll due to Advantage from Help and Disadvantage from exhaustion: 7) "Whatever we do, let's not go that way again." If she has no other ideas she says, "Maybe... right?"
After taking the road west for several minutes, you start to hear sounds behind you. At first, you can't make out any details, but shortly you are able to discern that there is what sounds like a group of wagons, pulled by horses most likely, and the occupants are singing boisterous, cheerful songs. You can't see them yet, so it is probably safe to assume they aren't aware of your presence. I will let you guys decide on your next move. you have probably about a minute.
Fiselius calls out his familiar. "Wel, Mr. Owl, would you take a look ahead for us?" Turning to Dacyne he says, "Sounds friendly ahead." He conjures up a magical flute in his hand (minor conjuration), "Barring any stunning revelations, shall we introduce ourselves?"
If Dacyne concurs, he'll play a little ditty on the flute as they approach the new group. Performance: 6+1 = 7 //it's not a very good ditty ;p
Dacyne considers for just a moment. "We might as well see. Other travelers can at least tell us if we're going the right way." She looks at Fisellius' conjured flute, wondering what he's going to do with it, and sits for the group to catch up to them.
As the newcomers round the corner, you can see that is indeed a small train oof horse pulled wagons, fill with brightly coloured people, of all ages, sizes, and genders. They appear to all be human, and they do no stop until they are roughly 20 feet in front of you. From the front wagon, a larger man comes forward. He has a long white beard, nearly reaching his stomach. He is wearing mostly blues and purples, with a few accents. Around his waist is a large brown leather belt, with a gold buckle the size of a plate. He stands at around five and three quarters of a foot, he has a low booming voice. Say, you don't often see strangers in these parts. What might've brought you to this astranged land? My name is Stanimar. Would you like something to eat and drink? Even as he is speaking, you cans see the rest of the groupexiting the wagons and setting up camp. [[[Pardon, my thing is stuck in bold for some reason.]]]
Fiselius hesitates, rethinking his thoughts on the group. If they were sympathetic of a vampire it could throw things off. But on the other hand, it wouldn't do be overzealously suspicious. "Some food and drink would be marvelous! The road has not been kind to us." he says with a smile, eking out a few notes on his flute. "Pleasure to meet you, Stanimar. Would we be heading the right direction for," he pauses to look at Dacyne to see if he has her approval to continue with the last word, "Barovia?"
Dacyne quickly nods back to Fiselius. "Yes, we were traveling to Barovia. Perhaps you can tell us if we were headed in the right direction?" She then considers their offer, tempted, but she shakes her head. "No thank you. I have my own rations. But tell me also, who are you folks?" She sees them starting to set up a camp. "Surely you aren't setting up a camp for the night are you? We should still have plenty of time to finish our journey before evening."
Barovia? yes, indeed you are already in barovia. As he speaks, a tall male steps forward and hands Fiselius a small sack of food, probably containing just a day or two's worth. We are called many things, but we call urselves Vistani. We are a people of traveling, kindness, and maybe a small amount of magic. And as to your other question, time is not much of a bother to us. We set up camp when and where we want, sometimes staying for an hour, and other times staying for weeks. We don't really have any goals in life, and hardly ever anything motivates us to move faster, because we never have a destination! we simply travel. Actually, that is not true. We occasionally know where we want to go, and we do right now. We are headed to see are leader, whom we haven't seen in nearly a decade. If you'd like, we could take you with us? It is said all over the world that our madame has a way to give information that no one else could give. Plus, it would let you see a loot of the land.
"Thank you very much." says Fiselius as he receives the food.
[[ adding 2 rations to his pack ]]
He listens as the man speaks, wriggling his ears in delight as he mentions his peoples' dabblings with magic. Seemed like a delightful folk. He thinks for a moment about the offer of travelling. Given the man had mentioned their leader as a madame, seemed safe enough to assume it wasn't this Strahd guy. "More the merrier when it comes to travelling companions." says Fiselius. He gestures up for his familiar to return and the owl sits on his shoulders. "By the way my name is Fiselius vondus Yaralogus. May I have yours?"
"And I am Dacyne. I see no harm in having you travel with us. We are looking for a Burgomaster, Kolyan Indirovich. You don't by any chance know of him? Or which way to go find him?" The elf looks around cautiously at all the folk - Vistani evidently. "You may not be concerned about time, but we had he had asked us to come as he was in urgent need of aid. So I'd rather not keep him waiting."
{[He had introduced himself as Stanimar earlier.]}
Excellent. I have heard the name Kolyan before, though I'm not sure where. Maybe we could stop by Barovia and check there? Though it could be hard to get anyone to talk. People here tend to be very introvertive. And they don't take to strangers very well, especially not strangers who aren't human. Though at least you both are very close to humans. If you wish to start off at once, we can do so. As you're hustled into a wagon, you are handed a wooden mug of hot tea. There are eight others in the wagon, besides the driver. One adult female, and seven rowdy little boys, the oldest somewhere around 7. She is dressed in the same colourful robes as her fellows, the boys are shirtless, three of them with baggy brown pants, two of the younger ones are wearing some sort of diaper cloth, and the last two, probably three years old are wearing nothing. One of them is currently being held by the woman, will the other is playing with the other kids. You can tell by their faces that they are probably all brothers. Looking around in the other wagons, you can see similar groups, with the adults wearing bright colours, and the kids ranging from the oldest, who were wearing almost complete robes, with just some extra sashes and such missing, to the youngest, who are wearing nothing at all, and everything in between. (When I say oldest, I mean like 17/18) The female hasn't said anything, just gave a nod in your direction. The kids are mostly just playing games with their fingers, or sticks, while a couple of the are play-wrestling. Despite there being seven of them, she doesn't seem to be having any problems controlling them, which probably comes from the fact that they've been doing this since they were born. The ride is bumpy, but not terrible. You were given blankets to fight of any cold winds, though it's also just cold outside. (I forgot to mention it a few lines up, but the wagon is naturally pretty crowded. the youngest kid, as well as the two in the wrapped up kinda shorts, are pretty much sitting on your feet.) {[Sorry if I ended up being kinda repetitive anywhere lol.}]
"Hello, I'm Dacyne," the elf says to the woman as she's shoved into the wagon. As they start the journey, she watches all the children. "Wow. You have so many children." She's willing to converse if anyone else is willing, otherwise she stays silent for a bit. She doesn't touch the tea at all for a long while either. Though eventually she sips a bit to ward off the cold. After a sip she asks the woman, "There seem so many children in your caravan. What sort of education do you have for them? Must be difficult if they're on the road with you all the time. Or do you have a more permanent home somewhere as well?"
As Dacyne handles the talking Fiselius does what he can to entertain the kids. He conjures up little trinkets for them to try out and makes various smells and faint sounds (the grandkids always giggled at a fart noise) to amuse them.
"Reminds me of home when the whole family is together." he remarks of the crowdedness of the wagon. He asks the lady, "Stanimar said the name Kolyan sounded familiar to him. Wondering if you recall that name too. He was coming about an issue with a lass named Ireena."
Hi, my name is Ange. Oh, we spend our whole lives on the road, so we just teach them as they grow up. Jestin, stop that! Hm, neither of those names ring a bell, sorry. We try to stay a little further away from towns. Do you have a big family? As she talks, she is very animated, and you can see now that she must enjoy conversation, and was maybe just holding back to avoid encroaching on you guys.
You said he came to you about something? How long ago was that. Surely you would've just been able to follow him?
(Perception check from both of you, completely unrelated.)
Fiselius listens with interest as Ange answers Dacyne's queries. A fascinating peoples. To the lady's question, "We met him last night. He came into the bar, gave everyone drinks, and then left us with letters about a job."
