Tendilius notes the agitation of the witch at the mention of the Amethyst Academy. Her wording, 'lap-dog.' A reflection of her own feelings from a former life? Some wizard gone missing in the quest for delirium?
He hides a wince as the fairy's body distorts. When the witch open's the fairy's mouth he fights both disgust at its eagerness and the racing of his mind. Had she wanted the piece for a voodoo doll in the making? Or was it purely a twisted fascination of humanoid dining? Probably the former, but he couldn't discount the latter entirely.
But another pressing matter, surely she'd realize it was a fake if they tossed it in. He takes a quick glance to see how the others are looking.
[[ @Arthuropod, would Ka-Cha Khan be readying for combat or trying as best as possible to have a truce?
@Skip, does the adventuring party the fairy was with look like they have ranged weapons? Are they in position for readied attacks if the witch comes out of the fairy? ]]
"You're hungry aren't you?" he continues in Tylwyith. "For a nice juicy eye. I can almost see a little flaming flicker, no doubt adding some spice to it. Indeed, seems a waste to hide the flavors of such a delicacy under the layer of the fairy's tongue. Wouldn't you prefer to taste it with your own?"
In a whisper he says to Cosmos, "Got any subtle spells you can ready?"
Switching over to Median with his full voice to make sure all can understand he says to the Witch, "Come out of that body first. Then you can have the eye."
[[ Depending on circumstances, might try readying an eldritch blast under the guise of using it to extract the eye but then blasting it at the witch when she's out of the body. Curious how others will act. ]]
(I'm not sure Ka-Cha would have heard the plan, since Cosmos was trying to be subtle, so whenTendilius says "Let's do this", you'll "hear" Ka-Cha "say" "Wait, are you serious?". Similarly, since the humans seem to be in on it, this is just window dressing to explain how Ka-Cha "knows" whats going on. Unless you want me to roll hearing perception & insight & fpllow up with sub conversations to explain.)
At this point Ka-Cha will "say" "Ohhh, I get it now. I'll play along by pretentinding to try and stop Tendilius, switching targets at the last second. I can also provide silent communication by broadcasting our plans to each other".
Needless to say he'll try very hard not to let the witch "hear" him
Then he'll draw a chat-kcha and "yell" at Tendilius "NO! There's got to be another way!" He'll use the actual Thri-Kreen language of clicks & whistles, and allow the witch to eavesdrop on that one.
He'll end holding a drawn chat-kcha to threatenTendilius.
[[@Skip, does the adventuring party the fairy was with look like they have ranged weapons? Are they in position for readied attacks if the witch comes out of the fairy?]]
((Yes! They do in fact!))
Human: Heavy Crossbow
Dragonborn: None (Too far away for Breath Weapon too)
Secret Third Person by Porch Door: Daggers (Ranged)
The fairy is about 60ft (east) away from the Human and the Dragonborn. While for the Third Person the fairy would be about 20 ft up and 35 ft away (the porch is much closer to the fairy). However, the daggers will likely not hit due to the angle. The porch has an awning which likely would be hit if trying to shoot at that angle.
But yes, the Human has a readied attack if anything happens that could be dangerous to them.
((Oh yeah whoops you're right Ka-Cha probably wouldn't have heard the plan. I like this how it's going so far. It's fun with misconceptions heheh ))

Cosmos flinches at the "sound" of your voice. His eyes go through a whole slew of emotions, probably because his thinks you might blew their cover.
But then when you suggest your plan, he seems to take it; first, scrunching his face ever so slightly to think, then seemingly agreeing once he figures it all out. All the while, he does this while seeming tense and fearful of what Tendilius might do to him.
"Yesss," the warp witch hisses, her voice reverberating in the echo that surrounds it. "YESSSSS!"
Her meaty purple tongue lolls out of her puppet's mouth like a panting dog; it has already been infected.
Her eyes narrows a bit as you continue, raising it in skepticism. Her teeth are bared (tongue already back inside its place). A low rumble starts in the back of her throat as she weighs her options. Her body buckles as though fighting for consciousnesses. The fairy's nails and gauntlet claws dig into the sides of the windowsill. Her back arches like a reverse startled cat.
"Na- no?!"Cosmos looks to you frightened. Eyes wild, his head lurches forward as if to say 'wait! is this the plan you were banking on?!'
Before he could react,
"For! A! Nice! Juicy! Eye!"
She repeats with a strain. Shadowy tendrils billow out from behind her back. They climb out, forming dark claws out her shoulders. Like a butterfly coming out of a chrysalis, the ethereal form of the warp witch drags her way out from her puppet's body.
You hear the crossbow of the human click, poised and raised. The warp witch isn't fazed.
Then he'll draw a chat-kcha and "yell" at Tendilius "NO! There's got to be another way!" He'll use the actual Thri-Kreen language of clicks & whistles, and allow the witch to eavesdrop on that one.
She stops for a second... as if to assess the Tri-keen's voice, her cloudy eyes form over her ghostly body. It looks like that was what it takes for her to cut it. She completely floats out the body of the fairy. Severed the link.
The body drops. It starts its descent falling below, the once clouded eyes of the fairy now filled with fear.
The human's crossbow bolt misses, swerving past the Warp Witch's now ghostly form. The full length of her form floats above in mid-air, hair spilling everywhere and drifting into mist. Her eyes focus on one thing and one thing only: the eye. And she looks about to be grabbing it herself.
She dives forward.
You are 10 feet in front of the Warp Witch. She is diving down, so she will be less than 15 ft away from you height wise (hypotenuse being 18 ft if being technical).
She's within range of a ranged shot. She's only 4 HP.
You all go first!

Ka-Cha doesn't even turn his head (since his compound eyes see the whole scene). He simply throws his chat-kcha at the witch and uses kensai shot to add damage.
With the witch down he then lets out a big sigh of relief. "Nice shot." he says to Ka-Cha Khan. [[again, assuming Ka-Chan brought the warp witch down]] "That was tense." With the relief of the situations and its tenseness he can't help but laugh. He wipes off the toy eye and holds it out towards Cosmos. "Well if my heart is beating a thousand miles per hour I can't even imagine what yours is doing." He smiles in between breaths before his mind turns back to the witch's victim. In a far more somber and serious tone he says, "I suppose we should check on the pixie."
Ka-Cha doesn't even need to turn his head when his chat-kcha goes flying. It slices through its ghastly thin ribcage, spreading the shadows out from within it. Its face contorts into a wail in its dying blow.
Immediately it is eradicated when Tendilius blasts through it; the thing disintegrates into nothingness. On the spot, ashes from its 'clothes' fall from the sky. Strangely enough, though it is invisible, you feel the weight of the witch's magical animus in the air.
Within the next 10 minutes (in-game) you can harvest the following components (1 component per player). Outside of that time frame, the corpse becomes too corrupted to harvest. You may choose specifically what you want to harvest.
Cosmos takes a sharp deep inhale after all that. "Thanks," he adds tersely, reaching back for his toy eye. He looks down, wide-eyed at the toy in your hand, then to study the compact dirt beneath his feet for a good while, then finally at you. "Yeah,"he exhales harshly then sighs. "Wow."
He reaches for the eye softly and shakily.
The person by the front door of the porches rushes in to save the fairy as soon as the witch explodes. Tendilius, you notice from the corner of your eye, that that cloak looks familiar. It is black, decorated with seaweed-like filigree at the edges of the bottom. A shark is embroidered on the shoulders of each sleeve... just like Fish's, the sea elf you met at the tavern.
"Catch!" they toss at you, Tendilius, a vial from a set of tools, before they scurry off to the fairy's aid quicker than you. This vial won't do much, but you know it could harvest specifically the animus, however, only if you just have something to heat it with before it completely dissipates from the air.
The two adventurers in the window stand still for a second before disappearing from view in the hallway windows. The white dragonborn reappears halfway through, shattering a window atop the porch with a punch and jumping down in a manner of seconds. The human nobleman, on the other hand, takes a few more moments to appear at the downstairs door.
"Thank you!" the dragonborn shouts hastily as they dive for their companion, who now is already beginning to wake up. "For saving Amelia." The bleary figure of the fairy lays sprawled across the cobblestones, bleeding profusely everywhere. Her blood shimmers in a strange way like most of the creatures from the Feywild, or Avalon, as it was referred to in Old Median.
Cosmos is one of the first from your team to head towards the fairy. His eyes shine like the most enthused kid in a candy shop.
Ka-Cha looks at the fairy (which he's never seen, or even heard of, before now) with interest. "You have insect wings but you are not an insect? Are we perhaps kin? I'm sorry I can't help more but I am no spellcasrer." Ka-Cha allows the others to "hear" him.
Tendilius scrambles to catch as the tools are tossed to him. His eyes dart from the people going to the fairy's aid, the corpse of the warp witch, and back to the tools. With a moment his eyes widen in realization and a large smile creeps onto his face.
He starts running to the warp witch, almost tripping over his own feet in excitement. He looks at the tools, grabbing one at random and is about to get crackin' when he remembers the contamination of the fairy. Gloves. he thinks to himself, checking for them. And then gets out his book to make the quick outlines of a sketch of the witch before getting back to the matter at hand. "Hair." he says to himself. "She wanted a piece of Hadrian, perhaps a piece of her hair." And then turns to the group at large, "Anyone want to help with this! There's so much to learn! We need to examine these remains!"

[[ what kind of skill check would be necessary? 14 + mods for the roll ]]
((No skill check necessary! all you need are the right tools! Currently the Kingfishers (the other adventuring team) has lent you them for the time being.))
The white dragonborn is quick to spare the dying stabilize the fairy. They tell you all to stand back with a hand for a second when their beaded necklace starts to glow and instantly, the fairy starts to breathe again, her choking gasp resonating across the courtyard.
"Dee- Dimitri?"Amelia, the fairy, stares up at the dragonborn who resolutely nods. The dragonborn Dimitri helps Amelia lean to her side when she begins to hack and cough some more. Instinctively, she puts a hand on her stomach as she doubles over, but then she draws her hand back when she notices that her jagged delirium-encrusted shoulder has begun to spread down to her sides. Several shards now jut out under her skin, ripping through layers of armor. She makes a loud sharp, gasping noise intermixed with a whine. At the same time the dragonborn puts their hand (also gauntleted) on top of hers. Fish's shoulders sag.
Amelia sniffles. "Ha,"She sucks her teeth then looks down at her open palm, the one without Dimitri on it. Then she gestures at the entire place. "At least anywhere here than to be caught dead in Helburg!"
"Don't say that," the human man whispers, finally having caught up to them. He is still heaving and hawing from running out through the front door. Dimitri reaffirms the other man's message by squeezing Amelia's hand (lightly).
When you come over towards the fairy, the others make room to let you forward. Dimitri stills stays by Amelia's side, but the nobleman and Fish both depart with a nod.
Amelia stares, eyes wide and mouth slack, then immediately laughs. "Yeah, yeah... I think we are!"She smiles at you, genuinely. "I'm actually more beetle on my mother's side." From her hair pop two antennae. She softly wiggles them. "Less mantis."
Her expression is soft when she says with a shrug, then wincing at how her shoulder hurts her, which gains an immediate reach from Dimitri to comfort and stop her. She waves it off.
Instead, she actually flutters her wings a little (or at least what's left of them). You see the shine of the blueish-green carapace that covers them, the right-side now absent of wings. She sighs at the sight of it. "Don't worry about it." The fairy waves it off. From her hand, a light shimmers with blue energy. Amelia presses it against her own chest and slowly the wings grow back again. The jagged purple shards on her shoulder and stomach suddenly glow a brighter, shaking like they're about to shatter. And she winces.
"We might need to get you back to 'Weaver's,"the dragonborn suggests.
He starts running to the warp witch, almost tripping over his own feet in excitement. He looks at the tools, grabbing one at random and is about to get crackin' when he remembers the contamination of the fairy. Gloves. he thinks to himself, checking for them. And then gets out his book to make the quick outlines of a sketch of the witch before getting back to the matter at hand."Hair." he says to himself. "She wanted a piece of Hadrian, perhaps a piece of her hair."And then turns to the group at large, "Anyone want to help with this! There's so much to learn! We need to examine these remains!"
You find your gloves and take your book to continue your study of the warp witch. The hair smells burnt but somehow still sweet. It is clumped together in patches and feels heavier than what you expect from such a creature.
"Hrm?" Cosmos looks over back at you once you call out. Still standing idly over at where the fairy fell, Cosmos brushes his hair from his face and walks over. "Oh right, yes." Pulling out his own set of tools, Cosmos begins the process for suctioning out the witch's animus from the air. It looks stupid the process, heating up a small vial over magical fire from his palm while swiping at the air aimlessly. Yet it works. Sure enough, a vial of yellowish liquid slowly accumulates in the teifling's palm. "Nyx, you getting the ectoplasm?" he asks once it is done. "You're pretty good at it. But- um if you want, did you want me to get it?"
Blinking over at Tendilius, he looks over at your notes and asks. "Oh? Are you studying them too?" He looks you up and down, noticing the lack of Academy regalia. "What got you into it?"

[[ Thanks for the info. Cool that we can get a-harvesting.
If I get anything wrong lore-wise with this, please let me know. It's been a while since I did a dive into things so doing a quick refresher here. ]]
Tendilius looks on with pure unadulterated joy seeing Cosmos and Nyx at work with the animus and ectoplasm, making a mental picture of it to remember. Are the wizard asks about if he's studying them too a part of him lights up with the opportunity to discuss the matters with a fellow colleague. When he notices Cosmos noting a lack of Academy regalia he feels a sense of nervousness. Uh, what do I say? he thinks. After a moment he delves back into comfortable habits, switching into a more historical genre, "Well I've always been a scholar at heart. Some of my fondest childhood memories come from convincing my father to take me on a trip down the Drann River and back up its tributaries to explore the Elven Ruins." he smiles wistfully, "Not sure if you ever heard of Dimble Schleppenloch. Ol' little gnome about yea high." he holds his hand below his waist, "But an intellectual mountain. You know he suspected elves could actually be the source of magic in this world. Certainly would explain the portals and arcane lore we find in such ruins. Or how high elves maintain a dabbling of magic near-innately."
With the topic of history mixing in with present affairs he relaxes and begins to chatter faster. "But then we ask why they came. Dimble offered a wanderlust explanation, that they just wanted to see new things. But I think a better explanation is that they were running! Imagine if you will," he holds up his hands and gestures them for emphasis, "you have this vastly more powerful force (rival kingdom, cosmic predator, natural calamity, whatever). And if you've determined there's no way to hold your ground against it, you then look for a new place to go. So instead, using the magic you know, you break through the fabrics of reality and find a better home. But there's still this other thing out there. It might even want to know where you are. And what if the meteor that crashed into Drakkenheim, in some shape or form, IS THAT THING! What if by delving into the mysteries of Drakkenheim we unlock the mysteries of the elves!"
As his excitement reaches a climax he thinks about the things he's read and starts intermixing words of Median with Sidhe words. "And if that's the case that these creatures are tied not just to the meteor but to our history then how could we not study them? For all the old tomes I've read we have living and breathing history right here before us! ...some exceptions apply." he looks down to the witch's corpse, and by now his transition into pure Sidhe is complete, "Fairy wilds. Shadow gates. What could be unlocked through understanding the mysteries these things before us?"
After a moment of jubilation he realizes he may have gotten a tad-exhuberant and nervously rubs his hair. Going back to Median he says, "So, uh, what made you want to be here and study them? Plenty of other places for a mageborn to be without constant threats of, well, this." he vaguely gestures at the whole of Drakkenheim.

The white dragonborn is quick to spare the dying stabilize the fairy. They tell you all to stand back with a hand for a second when their beaded necklace starts to glow and instantly, the fairy starts to breathe again, her choking gasp resonating across the courtyard.
"Dee- Dimitri?" Amelia, the fairy, stares up at the dragonborn who resolutely nods.
"Ha," She sucks her teeth then looks down at her open palm, the one without Dimitri on it.
When you come over towards the fairy, the others make room to let you forward. Dimitri stills stays by Amelia's side, but the nobleman and Fish both depart with a nod.
Amelia stares, eyes wide and mouth slack, then immediately laughs. "Yeah, yeah... I think we are!" She smiles at you, genuinely.
"We might need to get you back to 'Weaver's," the dragonborn suggests.
