Badger adds: "You want the clan 'back' you say. Did this Klarg take control from you? That sounds evil, and we can help. Show us that we can trust you by letting the human go. He can't get far from you in his condition anyway."
The goblin cackles. "Yeeeh hehehe. You think Yeemik stupid? I not stupid! I let human go, you kill me and whole clan! No, I keep human stinky garbage until Klarg dead! Bugbear boss took over clan and I stuck here with little food! I want lots food! You say let go human again and I let go real good, drop garbage over ledge with big gash in neck, hey ho!"
Badger catches Ash's look and shakes his head once with determination.
"Yeemik. We can get you your clan back, but we must build trust with you first. Let us rest here. Converse with us. And in a while we will have more strength and trust, and we can go take out this Klarg for you."
Yeemik says, "Okay. You stay down. Talk up to me. I talk down to you. I keep human. You kill Klarg. Yeemik take clan back. Yeemik give human trash to ugly dummies who leave. Deal?"
Badger calls up, "No, no, Yeemik. Let's talk. Tell me about Klarg and how we can defeat him for you. How many goblins in this cave are loyal to him? How do we get to Klarg without hurting your clan mates? Will they let us by?"
Badger intends to speak calmly and about strategy until they complete a short rest, if possible.
You've convinced him to let you stick around, but he might not fully understand the time you want to take. And you might have a hard time fully resting given the circumstances.
First, Badger, make another persuasion check. On a 10+, you calm him whenever he starts to get impatient and therefore can rest(ish) for enough time.
If successful to take the hour, each of you make a straight constitution check (not saving throw). 10+, and you achieve a short rest. Under 10, and you were too stressed by the situation to get enough rest.
During your rest and conversation, Yeemik says there are 6 other goblins, all loyal to him over Klarg. Klarg has 4 wolves, 3 chained in the kennel and 1 he keeps in his chambers as a pet and guard.
Sildar occasionally says things like not to trust Yeemik, to go save Gundren, and to leave Sildar behind if necessary. Yeemik always beats him when he speaks, and you worry that any of the hits could finally knock Sildar unconscious.
Badger asks again how the other goblins will know to let them into Klarg's chamber without attacking, or else the party will need to perhaps kill more of Yeemik's clan. Is there a sign they can use to get the other goblins to step aside?
Whenever the topic is raised of getting the other goblins to step aside for you, Yeemik gets frustrated. "Nyeeeh, no. You no kill my clan! Only Klarg!"
Finally, this time, he gets an idea, "You say 'Yeemik,' they know you work for me now? Maybe?"

Ash looks at Badger, begging with his eyes to let him at this little beast.

Badger: give me a persuasion check (or deception check, depending on your plan)
You hear Sildar choke out a whispered, hoarse "Don't trust him."
"Quiet, you" Yeemik responds, shaking Sildar's head by the hair.

Yeemik says, "Okay. You stay down. Talk up to me. I talk down to you. I keep human. You kill Klarg. Yeemik take clan back. Yeemik give human trash to ugly dummies who leave. Deal?"
Badger says: "I could have done without the 'ugly dummies' part, but yes." Badger makes an effort to slowly find a comfortable seat where he stands.
Ash whispers through clenched teeth, "Badger..."
Badger responds through clenched teeth, "Just sit down. We need to rest and think. We won't leave him here."
K meditates as well as he can while ready to act quickly should the need arise.
Yeemik snarls, "What you talk about? You supposed to talk me, no whisper whisper. My feelings hurt now. You want me cut human garbage head off?"
Badger calls up, "No, no, Yeemik. Let's talk. Tell me about Klarg and how we can defeat him for you. How many goblins in this cave are loyal to him? How do we get to Klarg without hurting your clan mates? Will they let us by?"
