Gotrek, who is obviously bored, gives off a loud and exagerated yawn. "I don't know about you academic types, but these kind of conversational games, wow thats a big word, bore the beard off me. So lets make this simple, Renwick. Are you aware of who the Black Earthers are? Did you know they are keeping slaves in the building you reside in? Do you know what is going on down in the mind below our feet? And finally that door that you sent my friend to is blocked." Gotrek says this last thing with a small rub on his hurt shoulder. (He would rub his ego if he could as well).
Renwick turns to Gotrek and says “that’s a lot of questions for somebody with a bad hair cut who also doesn’t like conversation.“ He thinks for a bit and goes onto say “I’ve only had myself to talk to for centuries but will try and only use simple single syllabic, oops that’s a big one - sorry for that, words. Anyway without further ado. One, yes I am aware. Two, no but it does not surprise me. Three, no but I have an idea. Four, yes I know - it’s to keep the rif-raff out!” He looks at Gotrek and says “was that simple enough for you?”
Thromkor adds, after giving Gotrek a little bit of a frustrated look at being cut off, "And would you be willing to help us free the rest of their prisoners?"
Renwick looks up in surprise as Thromkor speaks. “For a moment there, I thought you were going to let the Battle-rager ask all the questions”he pauses and then continues“and that would have been a first, as in all my life I’ve never seen a barbarian type – let alone a Battle-rager – ask a semi-sensible question or even allowed by the party to say much more than “aaaaaaargh, take that, etc. Usually all they are good for is busting down doors and the heads of whatever lies behind!”Once again he looks over Gotrek’s missing Mohawk and ear and says with a grin“and some aren't even much chop at that!” He thinks for a minute and says“the elemental evil sects’ temples are usually linked in some-way to the others and all will also have an outpost on the surface. I’m sure that what you have here is the surface outpost of the elemental evil earth sect, or Black Earthers as you call them. Somewhere underground will be their main temple, which will link to the other elemental temples.”
He rubs his chin and stroking his beard says “of course I help you get this lot to safety and can even do something to guarantee success.” He then looks at the party as if he is measuring them up and continues“but rescuing the other prisoners, isn’t that what heroic adventurers do? or at least it was in my day!”
"I believe times are different now than they were during 'your day'," Thromkor says, raising his chin and feeling oddly protective of the dwarf. "These days, many barbarians have a lot of sensibility. Just because someone is passionate doesn't mean they're doltish." The dragonborn takes a deep breath. "And I can certainly say that Gotrek here wouldn't allow an 'elemental evil sect,' as you put it, to take residence in his home. And he most certainly wouldn't have allowed them to keep prisoners in his basement!" He seems to have gotten himself worked up again.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
At the door, Tibold appears to be in great contemplation. His brow is furrowed and he glares at the door. Finally, Tibold speaks.
"Well, no reason to waste anymore time. Step back or be shattered," he tells everyone, deadpan. Once everyone (including Tibold) has done so, he cracks his knuckles, points at the door with his left hand, hums a note, and smashes out a chord on his spectral keyboard with his right hand. A ringing noise, centered on the door, fills the corridor.
Renwick’s Laboratory & the Platform between the Stairs
Cole, Gotrek and Thromkor all hear a note sound which is both loud and discordant. This is followed quickly by a loud ringing sound which is painfully intense!
Shaking to clear his head of the ringing sound which did 20 points of thunder damage, Tibold looks around and sees that seven of the prisoners standing within 10 feet of the door have collapsed to the ground with blood pouring from their ears. When Tibold looks at the door he sees that it is still closed but not sitting as securely in its frame as once did.
Renwick goes to the top of the stairs and looks down at the mayhem on the platform and says “precisely why did you want my help to rescue prisoners when your colleague doesn’t seem to care for them at all!” After quickly counting the number of dead bodies he says “I was inclined to help you but I think no longer. I suggest all of you, as they say in the classics ‘celeriter relinquo’, or leave quickly for those lacking in a classical education. I can’t guarantee that you won’t have attracted the attention of the other occupants, but I can say they are probably used to the occasional loud bangs and such like coming from these rooms.”
Why are you being so careless, we are trying to help these people! What were you thinking. Stop being impatient and think before you act. We will never get out of here being reckless.
Cole will push the others aside and try to open to door.
Common everyone let’s get these people left to safety

I am winding the campaign back to Thromkor’s last post – Post 675.
Renwick looks at Thromkor and says “sensible barbarians, well I never, things have certainly changed since my day! I really should get out more” he thinks a minute and says “actually that might not be such a good idea - could stop the chickens laying, sour the milk, etc.”
He then looks a little (only a little shamefaced) at Thromkor’s comment about Renwick not doing something about what was going on in his home and says “both my brothers often used to accuse me of concentrating too much on the trees in the forest and even on the bark of a particular tree, rather than looking at the whole forest.” He pauses and says “I had no idea there were prisoners in the basement and don’t even know why the cult was holding them. I suspect that the good dwarf”here he looks at Bruldenthar “has no idea either, but you can bet your last dragon, they still use dragons as coins don’t they, it will have something to do with one of the leaders trying to get an advantage over the others; that lot don’t play nicely in the sand pit – at least they didn’t in my day!”
He looks around his laboratory somewhat wistfully and at the party members says “it would be nice to have my home back again. They’ve only be here about six months and already I feel I am behind in my research. I would be most grateful for any efforts you undertake to clear out the Black Earthers, as you call them. If you could make that happen. I can guarantee that once that it is achieved, they or anybody else that is blatantly evil, well probably anybody else full-stop, won’t be allowed back.” He looks around and says “I am prepared for you to use the steps down and the crypt as a back entrance into the Monastery and its catacombs. I will keep the door locked and”he grins - the tight skin around his eyebrows makes it look more like a leer than a friendly grin - at the party “I know let's have a password that will open it to you. How about ‘Amphail, Renwick and Saramular lie here. If you not be a friend to one or all, then abandon all hope!’ Does that sound good?”
Renwick looks a little confused at Thromkor's question. "Right way to where"he says "the crypt well that's back down the stairs. The right way out of here, well that's up to you!"
Renwick looks around the room and says “why it is my place of work, I suppose you could call it my laboratory.”

Shatter: 10 thunder damage on the door.
And that's all I have to say about that.
If the key will not open the door then Cole will head back to the group.

I am winding the campaign back to Thromkor’s last post – Post 675.

Again, the supply of information appears to cool Thromkor's heat. "So Amphail is entombed here instead of at Summit Hall?"
Cole will heads back to the group after his key doesn’t open the door.
Well my keys did not work, do w shave a plan or a path to get these people to safety? We need to hurry and come back to search for the others.

Tibold is close behind him.
"I could blast the door down with a spell," he suggests.
"But we'd have to move these prisoners to a safe spot first."
And that's all I have to say about that.
"Renwick suggests we use the crypt," Thromkor says to Tibold. He turns back to Renwick. "How do we find the right way?"
Renwick looks a little confused at Thromkor's question. "Right way to where" he says "the crypt well that's back down the stairs. The right way out of here, well that's up to you!"

"What is the best way to leave without danger?" Thromkor asks.
