Meredith was in full blown panic especially as this was ALL her fault....yet again....
" C'mon Bell! I know you can do it!"
" And you! Water-thing-eely-Mac-Wet-Face! Get away from her!"
A spectral hand appeared on the other side of the pool and began slapping the waters surface.
Reaction- Cutting Words on Ripleys attack.
Magic Hand to give Help to Bell.
The water weird, like a bull seeing red, hot-focused on the magic mirror in Bell’s hand, rears up out of the water -- now only a 5’-wide channel following the division of the pool in half by the medusa’s stone wall -- the water weird, in a rage, whips up and out to wrap itself around Bell once again. But Erudisia’s elemental marshalling pulls a wall of rushing wind from nowhere to defend her friend. The wind wall seems momentarily on the point of dashing Ripley into droplets. But the pool’s guardian pulls back, only barely damaged (taking 5HP magical bludgeoning) and now seems to harden itself almost like crystal, then plunges through the wind wall, like a javelin, at Bell. However, this gives Bell enough time to roll away from the attack, and the aquan javelin crashes wetly against the stone. (N.B. - Meredith's Cutting Words are unnecessary since Ripley misses, so hold onto the slot).
The water weird quickly pulls itself back underwater, invisible once again, then lunges straight up in a fury at the spot where Meredith’s spectral hand disturbed the water (RP), temporarily distracted.
Now the medusa steps into full view on the far side of the pool. “RIPLEY!!!,” she shouts.
“EVERYONE STAY STILL! EVERYONE! IF ANYONE MOVES I WILL TURN THEM TO STONE!!”
At this moment, there is a thumping on the steps behind you. Leaping down the final flight, Little One lands with a crash, one fist hitting the stone like a linebacker. "I HEAR FIGHTING! WHAT HAPPENING!!!," he shouts, and he snarls menacingly at the medusa when he sees her.
Sylvarie's attack is triggered. With a yell, her petrifying gaze flashes at the hulking newcomer.

Little One is shocked to find he can't move and his menacing snarl transforms into a grimace. (He is Restrained)
Bell has already posted that she retreats, averting her eyes, but her retreat puts her out of view of Sylvarie. The medusa’s stone wall now stands between them.
Meredith & Erudisia are up. Both are in view of Sylvarie.

Erudisia tries to persuade everyone to calm down. She has to raise her voice to be heard over the localised gale that she maintains her concentration on. With Ripley contained between Earth and Wind, Bell safely out of his reach, the situation seems only a few moments from resolved if cooler heads prevail
“Sylvarie, despite any deep rooted ideas that may suggest contrary ideas, Little One is, in fact, the senior scholar of our band of Candlekeep’s expeditionary force, and usually very even tempered.”
”Little One, despite any deep rooted preconceptions that may have led to your concern, Sylvarie here is an author and built the premises upon which we trespass, and have found ourself stuck in some difficulties. She has some difficulties of her own! Which, if you’ve somehow gained entrance, we may be able to alleviate.”
”I suggest we all close our eyes and come together again and talk, and stay away from the water.”
" I'm a bad scholar......and a bad girlfriend.....and a very bad investigator........truly abyssmal combatant......terrible friend.....habitual procrastinator......really all round terrible..."
A long, tense moment passes, the medusa’s glowing eyes focused on Little One, the ogre staring back at the Medusa fearlessly, his grimace melting into a predatory snarl. The golden band encircling Little One’s brow flashes magically like a strobe on the verge of burning itself out.
Erudisia’s, Meredith’s and Bell’s words collide with the blazing tempers of the two antagonists. But the calming and distracting intentions penetrate the thick air between them. The Medusa’s eyes stop their glowing, and Little One, freeing himself from her magical hold, stands back slowly on his heels rather than leaning forward ready to charge. A frenzied spluttering splashing sound from behind the wall but dissipates as Sylvarie raises a finger then lowers it again like a bear trainer commanding her charge to lie down. The stone wall that divided the pool, with a grinding crunch lowers back down to the base of the pool and disappears. Ripley, freed, seems to jet around the pool in angry, impotent circles.
Sylvarie turns away from you, faces the wall.
“The mirror is mine. If you will work against The Fetid Gaze — that is what the coven call themselves — you may use it. If you can free me from this curse, you may keep it.”
“It is called ‘Radiance.’” She describes its properties. (Acts like a +1 Wand of the War Mage. While holding it, you gain a +1 bonus to spell attack rolls. In addition, you ignore half cover when making a spell attack. Radiance is in the form of an exquisite golden hand mirror.
While surrounded by darkness, it sheds dim light in a 5-foot radius. A creature that is attuned to Radiance can use a bonus action while holding the mirror to cast the enhance ability spell, choosing itself and no other creature as the spell’s target. Once this property of the wand is used, it can’t be used again until the next dawn.)

(Confirmed. Ripley’s turn will come after Meredith and we’ll find out then if the spell is triggered.)

Bell leans over and kisses Meredith's cheek. "We all love you for the mess you are. Not perfect but, embracable."
With a smile she sits cross legged and looks at her lap, "Now, what did I do wrong by bringing this mirror out of the water?"
