Bell yelps as the chain wraps around her ankle and causes her to slam to the floor. With a solid head klonk, she is seeing magical birdies flying around her head as she is dragged across the room.
Bell claws at the floor hoping to find purchase to stop the chain from dragging her across the room -- to no avail. Knowing she has little to combat this trap, she uses the only weapon she has left. Magic Missile
"telum mortiferum" she commands.
Three small darts of pulsing energy fly from her hands to impact long the length of the chain. Each 'dart' impacts along the chain's length with a blossom of sparks on impact.
(( game log -- each of them hit for 2 hp each for a total of 6 force damage ))
Bell’s magic missiles power into the Chained Library, but under duress and seeing stars as she is, the effect is not as forceful as she might have hoped. Still, the cabinet cracks slightly at the hinges, and flecks of varnish pop off of its surface.
Rogi, glowing slightly as he usually does with the arcane Guidance he casts on himself repeatedly – an annoying habit which may now pay off – shouts, “Get out of there, Bell!” Brow arched sardonically and shaking his head muttering about the uselessness of mundane weapons, the artificer Grapples Bell (which I assume Bell allows), and attempts to pull her out of the room. This is STR vs STR against the Library. Rogi: 11-1=10 + Guidance 2 = 12. Library: 6+2=8. Rogi succeeds, pulling Bell out of the room! He then uses his interact with object to slam the door shut.

You immediately hear a banging, grinding sound from behind the door. Wham! The sound of one of the chains smashing against the door, trying to break it open. (3+2=5) Unsuccessful! The door holds. But a moment later, The Library throws its full weight against the door and (20+2=22, Crit!), CRACK!! the door is thrown off its hinges and almost flattens all four of you as it careens across the space, taking down two telescopes and breaking against the eastern wall! The Library can’t fit through the doorway, but all four of you are now only 5’ away from it and will draw attacks of opportunity if you flee.
You are now in the planetarium room next to the western wall and engaged in melee with the Chained Libary. The Door to the chained library room is open, broken, and cannot be closed.
Bell limps as far from the chains as she can. Between the head klonk and the rusted chains sawing at her ankle and leg, she is not a happy camper. Once she is certain she is beyond 'reach', she will open her spellbook and begin a ritual Unseen Servant
She knows she only has her cantrips and rituals available and none of those are from the school of healing. Perhaps she can send her servant into the room to at least recover Fistandia's book on the table.

Erudisia sees her friend limp away from the bookcase, and its chains draw back ready for an attack of opportunity against the scholarly mage.
Erudisa runs between them then backward, following Bell’s path to the far wall.
”Over here, over here. Pick me, you wicked thing!”
She draws her fingers through the air, intoning in Auran to make sure it’s attention is on her, with the assistance of her new spell Eldritch Blast.
Attack: 7
Damage: 5
Attempting to be a distraction, it is perhaps too much to expect to be able to flawlessly cast a new spell while on the move. Her fingers go the wrong way while attempting to trace the logogram’s final corner, and what comes out is more Eldritch Puff than Blast.
Bell, now that she has had a moment to catch her breath, realizes she has no magic left that would be of help. Limping further into the telescope room, she moves further away. "I have nothing that might help," she yells to no one in particular.
Grasping at straws for what to do, Bell’s arcane training kicks in:
Bell knows that the chained library might not be immune to reason. Its enchantment is related to the books held within it, to be sure. It will jealously attack anyone and anything that comes near or tries to take one of those. But the “extra” unchained book flopping upon its table surface? The one with the Mordenkainen bust? Maybe not.
Erudisia’s ineffectual eldritch blast is followed by another arrow from Meredith, which, because the bureau is an easy target in the doorway right now, hits for 7HP piercing damage despite its clinking chains, whooshing through the air like cobras.
Rogi hitches his shield and draws his crossbow, cranks and loads an unusually small metal bolt. He pulls the trigger, but his aim is low and the missile falls short, hitting the ground in front of the bureau. Yet now suddenly a big funnel-shaped net of arcane energy bursts from it, the funnel leading directly to the bureau’s intricate cabinetry work. “That should make it easier,” he says, bored. (OOC: This was a casting of faerie fire. All attacks against the chained library may now be made with advantage.)
Round 3 results (partial)
Stuck behind the doorway, the Chained Library tries to wrap its chains around the doorframe and pull itself through. The doorframe groans but for the moment, it holds.
Erudisiaswears to herself that if she is to escape this mansion with her life, she will turn some of her attention to arts of healing and war, like her father always advised her. Almost all the magic she knows is that of scholarship or convenience. If this is the peril of even study beyond Moonshae, she has been woefully unprepared.
She aims her gesture so that the final swirl of her fingertips aims towards the enchanted library. "Ƶล𐒅𐒅ล٢ કɨล ક⛛ลԈⱦ٢ลลꗪ𝝒"
Meredith sights her bow again frowning as she take sin the damage thats been done to her new friends...
She thinks she knows what Bell was trying to do before and, whispering to herself, summons an ethereal copy of her own right hand and sends it forward to try and pick up the book....
Erudisia’s eldritch blast, channeled by Rogi’s funnel, storms into the bureau. The chained library’s clawed feet scrape against the flagstones defiantly to keep its balance, but its attached table top cracks down its center as the Mordenkainen book shudders and bounces visibly.
Meredith’s ghostly hand reaches out to attempt to grab the book. (Meredith: it is a moving target. Please roll a spell attack with advantage to grab it. If you succeed, you may pull it back to you and take it [in your real hands] if you wish.)
Rogi loads and fires a crossbow bolt – an ordinary one, long and sharp – and the magic funnel bends the missile’s flight so that it thumps loudly into the chained library’s woodwork, throwing splinters and damaging the construct enough to de-animate it for a moment. But only for a moment.
Round 4 results (partial)
The chained library strains to pull through the doorway, to punish the thieves who thought they could defeat its protections, and with a surge of power, it cracks the doorframe, then explodes through it, its chains whip through the air at its last attacker, Rogi, curling around his right arm and pulling him forward, then lifting him and dashing him against the ceiling and floor. Rogi takes 5HP bludgeoning damage and is Grappled, but his sardonic smirk holds and so does his spell concentration and therewith, his magic funnel, giving advantage to all attacks. “Get it off me!,” he shouts.
The half elf warlock catches the book to the best of her ability. Surely a chained library will not relinquish its books, and she has painted a target on her back. She runs to the door to the next room and exits the telescope room — hopefully the door will slow it again.
She turns and from the next room fires one more Eldritch Blast.
Buoyed by her success with the book-wrangling Meredith quickly nocks another arrow and fires again...
Attack: 12 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
(The roller isn't quite showing. a result. Just to check -- Rogi's magic funnel (faerie fire) gives Meredith advantage. Did you roll with it? Maybe roll over to avoid the dice cops...)
