When she realizes that the stairs go up to a tower, Keyleth concludes that this is unlikely to be the way to the shrine the captive kobold mentioned. Still, it seems worth scoping out. She ascends the stairs quietly, signaling to her companions that she is doing so. Her priority is remaining unseen, followed by scouting, so if she sees anyone she will stop and watch them as long as she is not spotted, but if spotted will retreat (dash) down the stairs.
Perception: 6
Keyleth slowly makes her way up the stairs. As she gets closer to the top she can hear the shuffling of feet. Someone or something is at the top.
Keyleth, still feeling a little shaken and distracted from the kobold begging for its life, tries to decide whether to keep heading upward, or go back. She decides to keep going up a bit farther, so she can hopefully get a look at what's at the top of the tower.
OoC: Sorry this is ending up kinda leaving everybody else twiddling their thumbs down there while Keyleth scouts this tower. If you want to discuss a plan for where to go next assuming this tower isn't that interesting, that'd give you something to do at least? (Keyleth will go along with it, whatever it is)
Keyleth continues to climb the stairs up. When she reaches the top she carefully looks around.
A pair of crossbows rigged to wooden mounts sit on the tower guard rails and are operated by two small, reptilian creatures that perch on wooden crates to reach the triggers. A third creature peers over the railing, its stunted, dragon-like snout partially ob-scured by an ornate set of goggles that magnify its yellow eyes to comical proportions.
OOC - does Keyleth know what kind of creatures these are? Ransyl is obviously very confused about the difference in appearance between Kobolds and Lizardfolk. :-)

Keyleth quietly makes her way back down the stairs to report her findings to the group.
"Looks like a guard tower. There are three kobolds up there, focusing their attention outside. We should be careful when we go back out, but it doesn't seem to be connected to anything else. I don't really see any reason for all of us to go up there."
OoC: Did the goggled kobold look similar to the tough kobold in the first room that had a vial of acid, or did it seem to be a new kind we haven't seen?
"May as well try one of these other doors I suppose," Keyleth says, gesturing to the western and eastern doors in turn. "Any preferences, or should we just flip a coin?"
She pulls out a gold coin. "Heads [1] for west, tails [2] for east?" and flips it. [1]
OoC: To clarify, in cases like this where someone rolls the wrong skill, do you want a reroll, or just to add or subtract the applicable difference in modifier?
You check the west door and find nothing of interest. Slowly opening it you see that it leads a short way to a tumbledown gazebo, now only a series of carved pillars and cracked tiles. From there it leads out onto a long bridge that connects to a second intact gazebo that has been closed off with heavy drapes. Looking along the bridge you can see that about halfway along the bridge a part of the bridge has crumbled, leaving a short span of water between the two sections.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OoC: Is there line of sight between this bridge and the top of the tower that Keyleth scoped out? I guess from the map it looks like there would be...
(Unless Faen's previous roll implies ongoing trapfinding) Keyleth cautiously steps forward toward the first gazebo, and examines the pillars and tiles for anything that looks amiss.
OOC: It can be safely assumed that while moving your passive perception is always on the lookout for traps, etc...
If you use the wrong skill I'll just keep the roll and adjust accordingly for the correct skill unless i decide you totally botched it by using the wrong skill and then you'll suffer the consequences. The DM gets to have fun too. <insert evil cackle here>
Anything from the first gazebo and out into the bridge will be in sight of the guard tower
Carefully walking to the first gazebo Keyleth sees the debris and broken tiles on the ground of the gazebo and bridge make the terrain difficult to walk on. She also spies a couple of crocodiles sleeping on the bridge about 30 feet out from the gazebo, before the break.
OoC: While I'm in question-mode, how difficult does it look like it would be to jump over the gap in the bridge?
When she is finished examining the gazebo, Keyleth looks up toward the tower and says, quietly, "Looks to me like those kobolds up there will have a clear shot at us if we continue across this bridge. It may be that we should go back in and try to take them out first after all, to make our passage easier."

Faen stays at the bottom of the stairs but is ready to rush up to help her elven friend at a moment’s notice.

Keyleth recognizes them to be kobold's.

Edited to clear it up.

“Alright. Does someone want to keep an eye out for traps as we go further or should I?”
Ransyl
“Go for it, and I’ll help.”
OOC - giving Faen advantage on the roll.
OoC: Is this investigation?
Investigation: 21
Looking for traps would be perception. Figuring out how to disarm them would be investigation.
