Kirinar steps up to join Ransyl, crossbow held down, but ready to fire. "Look, we came here to seek peace. Why do you hunt this dragon? What has it done to your people? It has asked us to give your people a peace offering in exchange for being left alone to live in this temple and immediate areas. If you are not the one in charge, then bring forth one who can bargain for your people."
The lizardman sneers again and gives a small bow. He then looks back out the gateway. Stepping to the side a group of lizardfolk appear. Most are dressed as the first. They have no armor and light clothing and they carry blow guns.
One steps forward though. He wears robes and has a staff.
"I am Drauk, shaman of the Stinging Mist. We seek the dragon that has moved into our lands and brought the vermin with him. You people of the village are not our concern. We want the dragon. Send it out and we will have peace again with the people."
“Hello Drauk, I am not from this area and am unaware of the history between your two tribes. Could you please tell me why you are at odds with each other? What is the problem between you and the dragon?”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kirinar sighs and repeats his earlier statement to the new lizardman."Look, we came here to seek peace. The dragon has asked us to give your people a peace offering in exchange for being left alone to live in this temple and immediate areas. Will you accept these gifts as payment for this land?"
The fighter will slowly lay his loaded crossbow on the ground and remove his backpack. Reaching inside, he withdraws the peace offering, plus his own ring offered as reward by the dragon. "The dragon and his kobold followers offer the lizardfolk these bloodstone gems, a gold tablet depicting a gigantic reptilian creature looming over stylized trees, and this ring. They promise to live in peace in these lands and uphold the agreements made. This agreement shall remain in force and may be altered only with the agreement of all parties. Are we all agreed?"
"We have no interest in these trinkets. Do not waste our time with these things. We are willing to remember the peace between your people and ours. But these vermin must leave. I wish to speak to the dragon directly. Send him out. I tire of this talk. "
Kirinar shrugs and returns behind the barricade. "Well, what do you guys think? Should Yuti go get Nox and see if he can negotiate something with them? We can stand by to help keep things from getting out of hand, but I can't promise that the kobolds will get to stay here..."
"I am concerned, but I do not know what else to do. I will see if Nox will come. If he refuses I am afraid we will have to fight."
She then leaves, presumably to Nox's chambers. She is gone for about a half hour and you notice that Drauk is possibly becoming impatient. But before he says anything Yuty returns.
"He says he will come."
Shortly after the young wyrmling appears behind them.
He passes the barricade and stands in the corridor with you.
"I am Nox, and you are Drauk, shaman of the Stinging Mist I am told. How can I assist you? How can our two peoples live together in peace?"
"You must come with us" Drauk replies. "If you do, we will allow the kobold's to leave our territory. But if you do not, well..."
He spreads his hands indicating the warriors around him. The threat is plain.
Nox considers his words for a moment and then with resignation he lowers his head. "I will not go with you."
"I thought not." Drauk answers, anger spreading on his face. "Then you will die with the rest of the vermin!" He cries
Suddenly a long, vine-like whip covered in thorns lashes out at Drauk's command toward Nox. It wraps itself around Nox and does 7 pts damage and pulls the wyrmling 10 feet closer to Drauk!
OOC: I forgot, you didn't do much during the wait for the lizardfolk to arrive and it was at least an hour so mark a Short Rest on your sheets before starting combat.
"Are we really fighting for an evil dragon? One that we were prepared to kill this morning? All that we agreed to do was negotiate for peace...not start a war with the lizardfolk tribe. Maybe it's time to walk away?" Kirinar is plainly troubled, conflicted with the choices.
Triggered action:
If the lizardfolk attack the Mire's Edge party, or two of his comrades attack, then Kirinar will fire his crossbow at the leader.
Keyleth waits with her crossbow at the ready, waiting to attack until one of the lizard folk attacks one of her party or one of their current allies in her field of view.
Dealing with some internal struggle, Ransyl gathers some momentum, pushing his way around Nox and hurls his spear at Drauk. You can hear the words, “we just wanted to talk.” Come out of his mouth while the spear flies toward its target. With his words still hanging in the air, Ransyl throws a dagger at the leader as well.
Spear Attack: 20 Damage: 4
Dagger Attack: 17 Damage: 5
Ooc- can Ransyl try to pull Nox back to the barricade?

OOC - sorry, I forget who this temple originally belonged to,the Kobolds or the Lizardfolk?
OoC: Neither, I think. I think it was a Yuan-Ti structure

“Hello Drauk, I am not from this area and am unaware of the history between your two tribes. Could you please tell me why you are at odds with each other? What is the problem between you and the dragon?”
Drauk looks down at the dwarf.
"It is very simple, they have moved into our territory. It is not theirs, it is ours and we want them gone. We are here to remove them from our land."
Kirinar sighs and repeats his earlier statement to the new lizardman. "Look, we came here to seek peace. The dragon has asked us to give your people a peace offering in exchange for being left alone to live in this temple and immediate areas. Will you accept these gifts as payment for this land?"

"Peace offerings? And what exactly does the dragon offer?"
The shaman answers.

“I agree Kirinar, we can only do so much.”
Ransyl turns to Yuty, “We cannot force peace. Is there more information we should know?”
Yuty considers their words.
"I am concerned, but I do not know what else to do. I will see if Nox will come. If he refuses I am afraid we will have to fight."
