Krack and Shayla touch the orange crystal and feel movement from within, it is an egg. To be precise given its position in the cave a fire snakes egg. Fire snakes are the larval form of salamanders - powerful creatures from the elemental plane of fire. Intense heat washes off their bodies, and their yellow eyes glow like candles. They are vulnerable to cold, and resistant to most forms of melee. They share their news with the others.
Trilaxa tries magehand to see if they can remove the egg successfully, sadly it fails letting more fumes into the chamber. The egg is truly wedged. You need a melee attack to destroy it.
Shayla gave it a kick and found that the shell splintered, pieces of crystal break away. The crystal finally breaks into pieces, a 2 ft diameter sphere of smouldering obsidian falls to the floor amid the other pieces and breaks open releasing a fire snake from his stony egg. Seeing the party only as fuel, it attacks you at once. Breaking the Fire crystal also reveals the reason that most Myconids don't come into the cave, it is immediately filled with shimmering sunlight refracted through the crystals that line the vent. Bright light fills the entire area. The noxious fumes are sucked away and stops the blight through its interaction with the mycelium. The Sovereign should be able to cope now.
"Ohhh, a fire snake" he says excitedly, "perhaps we could tame it? Keep it?" But looking around, it doesn't appear to be an option. "Oh well, it would have been nice...", he backs up and fires an arrow at it.
Kracks arrow hits true and the fire snake hisses, Krack can feel the heat off of its body.
Veneer backstabs the fire snake but his first sword misses, the second sword strikes into the snakes body. the body of the snake writhes near you and as you complete your strike you burn yourself in the heat coming off the body. Take 2 damage (fire)
Theodor lashes out at the Fire snake, he feels his attack hit, lucky he wore gauntlets, the attack hits in full measure, the snake tries to glide away glowing from the radiant damage, then it shuts its eyes and lies still. You see Veneer clutching his hand to his chest in need of healing.
Veneer seizes the moment to pick up his daggers and the swords. The burn is blistered and hurting, but it could have been much worse.
You notice the obsidian shards of the stone egg, they look like they might be worth something to a jeweller or a wizard. You pick up 25 shards and put them somewhere safe to be distributed later.
Both the fire snake and the fume drakes look like their hide would be worth something, a good pair of magical boots from the snake, and enchanted shoes from the drakes, or maybe you could drag the bodies out into B3 where most of the composting happened. Leaving them here to rot would be detrimental to the fledgling friendship that you are making with the Myconids.
The fire snakes hide was still warm as you skinned it, it is latently Fire resistant. The fume drake skins were slightly harder to skin and are latently fire and poison resistant. Those latencies will remain with the hides for your boots or shoes. Myla back at the Temple might make the shoes up for you.
Shayla gently took Veneers hand and called on Raei to help. He watches as the healing spell erases the blister until there is no more damage.
You notice how clear the room smells now and gently rub away some soil. You find Mycelium beginning to glow fighting against the spoiled roots.
(Occ: Sorry I was out of internet over the last few days. I'm not sure what barakas was doing, probably fell a sleep or did something that didn't allow him to engage in battle)
As Barakas attention returns to the site he gasps and says "Ohh guys I'm so sorry. Is everyone OK?"
After the successful fight the party decide to check on Sinensa. The mycelium that you uncovered seems to be influenced by it.
You have missed the tide change so you need to find somewhere to rest for the night. Ideally with drinking water as you saw in the Fungus Farm B2. You keep an eye out for Hipsiz.

Theodor
Theodor squints and raises his shield up instinctively to protect himself from the heat. "By Bahamut, this thing is as hot as the hells."
He moves into melee range, shouting "Let's finish this quickly, otherwise we'll be cinders!"
A similar silvery white light covers his Warhammer and explodes in divine fury against the Fire Snake.
To hit: 22 --- Damage: 20 (10 bludg + 10 radiant)
Veneer
Hisses in pain, dropping the sword that struck the drake and stumbling back, cradling the singed arm near his chest.
He throws his other sword at it: 7 damage: 7
