After hearing this is the goddess of luck, Kim walks up and places an offering of 1 copper piece. She then turns to the woman, "Sister, where is an orphanage near by or a place where the homeless congregate? I was taught as a child to make offerings, but to truly make an offering you need to give it to where it is needed. So I want to give a silver piece and a gold peice to those who could use it better than me. Can you tell me the locations or can you give these donations to them?" Kim rarely ever gave offering to the gods as she always trusted her training more than anything, but a bit of luck wouldn't hurt if it only cost her less than 2 gold. She always wondered if the minimal offering offended the gods or if they respected the fact that the gold went to people who needed it. She may never know and it may not mean anything at all, but she did know it wouldn't hurt her team and that's what she cared about.
“Sister, I find our situation comical and possibly even ironic as I - an elf of a hundred years would not be addressed with mutual respect from his fellow elf - I would by chance (or you might say by luck) be in search of a brazier much like the one that (by chance or LUCK) I happen to stumble upon. It would seem that the goddess of luck is smiling on me and is perhaps wanting me to have this brazier as a gift. Or, maybe she would bestow upon you the luck, to show respect to both her and me by guiding me to a place to purchase a similar one.”
Morpetor is obviously perturbed, no longer leaning on his staff, but with his shoulders fully squared.
Sister Garaele gives Morpetor a look of shock as he changes his stature. "Again, things at this temple, are not for sale. You are free to use the brazier for your rituals if need be, but this brazier will not be leaving this spot." She begins to change her tone, matching that of the perturbed Morpetor. "I agree, it may have been luck that brought you to this shrine here with an item you are in need of." She makes it a point to look at your pack and then to the brazier, which is quite large and heavy. "It also seems to me that this brazier is rather large for your pack."
Sister Galaele takes the copper piece from Kim. "Thank you dear girl for your offering. There are not very many homeless or orphans around the area. Phandelver is such off the beaten path, not many find their way here by accident. Most can find a decent living in town if they come down on hard times."
Linene say to Gramgran, "thank you my dear lady. A piece like this will display nicely in the shop here." Linene turns to Yuri when a question about the Redbrands is asked. "You haven't been in town very long have you? Its at the end of the tenday. Thats normally when they come around for payment. Supposedly its for protection, but the goblin raids stopped some time ago now."
(A tenday is a Faerûnian unit of time. The Calendar of Harptos divided the thirty-day months into three blocks of ten days each, or simply put, "tendays". The word was used interchangeably with the Earthly term "week".)
With that Morpetor flips a gold coin in her direction, turns and goes to meet with the rest of his party. When he meets them he gives 8gp each (for the sale of the statuette).
"If you ever need to use the brazier for an offering, it will be here." Sister Garaele swiftly catches the coin with her nimble elven hand. "Luck be with you as well."
Linene explains to Yuri there probably hasn’t been an attempted raid since the last harvest. (Which is about 3/4 of a year ago) “Initally the goblins came often, but now we never see them.”
Nodding, he extrapolates from Linene's sentence, "Yet the Redbrands continue to seek payment for their protection from a threat that hasn't come in over half a year. This feels more like they now hold the town to ransom. I take it they don't take kindly to people refusing to pay, or offering a reduced sum?"
OOC When Morpetor and Kim arrive, Yuri will share with them their share of the reward from the Coster, 10gp each.
Linene says to Yuri, "The Redbrands aren't known for negotiating. People have tried to pay less in the past, but then problems occur. No one can prove it's the Redbrands, but who else could it be." Linene turns to Granmgran. "Yes, in another tenday they'll be back."
Yuri thanks Linene for her candour and steps away to speak to Gramgran and Ren. "Ok, so we've at least got time to determine what we want do to about these Redbrands. But a regular payment every tenday, it's," he grimaces as he finishes the sentence, "almost worse that a sporadic goblin raid, isn't it?"
As the party meets up at the center of the plaza, Sildar comes walking towards the group. "Sorry, my lady," Sildar says to Gramgran. "Iarno, like myself, belong to the Lords' Alliance. The Lords' Alliance promote law and order in uncivilized towns and cities." He gets a look of despair on his face. "Seems Iarno is now missing, has been for two months now. Some locals last saw him headed toward the Tresendar Manor. He would not have left town without telling someone." Sildar regains his composure. "I'm going to continue looking, but I implore you to investigate the grounds of the manor. You must help me find Iarno and bring him back, or what is left of him....."
"I am now off to the Townmasters Hall to speak to him." Sildar turns and begins walking toward a building just off the plaza.
Gramgran
Thanking Linene, Gramgran says, “May Lliira’s joy wash over you child, and have a wonderful day!”

Allowing Gramgran to make her purchase, Yuri peruses the stock at the Coster. On hearing the grindstone come to a halt, he approaches Linene.
"Can we ask you about The Redbrands, Linene? We've been seeing them around town a lot today."

Yuri narrows his eyes, "How many tenday since the last goblin raid? Do the Redbrands offer anything else bar their protection from goblin raids?"

“What do we know about our lost benefactor? Are we any closer to finding his whereabouts?”
Yuri shrugs and looks to Gramgran. "I don't think Sildar was all that helpful, right? Maybe we try to get some answers back at the inn tonight?"
Gramgran
“Sildar went to talk to his magic friend, and snuck away while I was talking to a lovely lass. He might have some information later on.”
OOC: I'll get you guys updated later this evening.
