“I’m not in pain, just concerned. Someone, or something is using a telepathy spell to try encourage me to end my life. We need to get to the bottom of this sooner than we thought!”
“Must be hard for mommy and daddy to look at thier elven son knowing he’s in deep dark filthy dungeons. They must be so disappointed.” There is a pause. “I’ll make you a deal wizard. You push someone off into the crevasse and I’ll let you pass. You wouldnt believe the hunger I have.”
“It’s some kind of mental trick, he wants me to push one of you down the crevasse, to ‘feed his hunger.’ Maybe he lives down there. Let’s move on, maybe we can cross this first bridge.”
"Morpetor, keep strong to your knowledge of reality. I can hear the thoughts inside your head, that voice. Just know we are hear for you." Kim looks to the others. "Let's go ahead and cross the bridge. With him receiving a mental assault, we don't want to stay here long."
Kim turns to the bridge, constantly focusing on the thoughts of Morpetor so she may still hear the voice with him. Her focus is more in listening then the actual bridge.
OOC- I am not rolling a perception check here because I feel like Kim would be concentrating very little on the pathway before her. She is, but not close enough to notice any traps. I'll take the punishment of traps, I just feel this is the best narrative thing to do for now.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(OOC: As far as checks go, like perception, let me know what you're looking for or trying to discern of a certain thing. Just the skill checks without telling me what exactly you want to check on leave me to assume your actions. I'd rather not assume your characters actions if I don't have to. An investigation check is also a skill to use for closer examination of a certain item.)
Kim pushes forward, making her way toward the south bridge. Both bridges are made of wooden planks and have no rails. As Kim starts to walk out, the sinister voice enters Morpetor's head again. "Thanks, friend." Kim is also able to hear the voice. Quickly, the end of the bridge becomes dislodged and breaks away from the edge. Kim falls with the bridge to the floor of the crevasse. Kim suffers 9 bludgeoning damage and lands prone in a jumble of rubble that is difficult terrain (halved movement in combat).
This steep-sided fissure is 5 to 10 feet wide and 20 feet deep. The bottom of the crevasse feels unnaturally cold. Currently heaped at the bottom among broken and wellgnawed bones is the half-eaten body.
The voice again reaches out to Morpetor.
"You're free to go now. Just leave her to her fate. You have provided me with food so I will allow you and your friends to continue on. Thank you, friend."
Rushing to the edge and seeing Kim 20 feet down, she pulls out a rope and starts unwinding it. “Well come on children, don’t just stand there! Help me pull her out!” Turning back to look at Kim she says, “Don’t worry dearie, we’ll get you out in a jiffy!”
OOC - Sorry DM. Will be clearer next time, I wanted to try and find wherever the telepathic...thing was in the room, if it was even in the room, hence the scanned perception check, will limit this in future. I then panicked incase it was invisible as well, hence why we couldn't identify the source, so thought, maybe it leaves footprints? Anyway... On with the RP!
"KIM!"
Yuri rushes to the edge of the chasm looking for a way down, not seeing anything. Seeing Gramgran's quick thinking, he grabs the end of the rope and prepares to heave.
Kim loses concentration on her spell as she falls. She slowly stands up, then punches the ground out of angry for losing sight of what was in front of her. "Thanks Gramgran!" She reaches out for the rope and starts to make her way up. "I have a bad feeling about this place..."
OOC- I'm on my phone so if you can roll for me on the climb that would be nice.
OOC - No worries on the checks. I just wanted to clarify things. I'm not going to play any "gotcha" type games with you all. Sometimes it may feel that way, I'm sure.
Morpetor:
"As agreed upon wizard, you and the others are free to move on from my home. But I must warn you, do not return here."
At this point, a creature moves out from the pillar on the west side of the crevasse. He wants to take a good look at his next feast. He sees the others trying to throw the rope down. Clearly not a fan of the current situation, he moves back behind the pillar and out of sight again.
(I've had to resort to adding my own code into the source code to make the pictures happen! <!--future reference for myself!!!!-->)
Morpetor:
"Stop them! Stop them now wizard! Leave me to my meal! You move on and leave the girl, that was the deal! Why won't you talk to me wizard? You and I are much alike....."
Morpetor gets the best look at the creature. The others, minus Kim, see the creature for a split second. The creature is tall. You'd say about 7 to 8 feet if it wasn't slightly bent over. Morpetor, give me an Arcana or History check.

OOC: I'm going to hold you in the pit for a couple of "rounds." The air was knocked out of you pretty good and you're trying to catch your breath. You look around on the ground. The walls aren't particularly steep and look like an easy climb, even more so with a rope.
You read of these creatures in your studies of arcana. You faintly remember these creatures were former wizards who had been cursed.
"Well, how about a different deal? I'll let you keep the girl if you can bring me two replacements. But your friend here must stay in the pit until you return. I can tell you've killed before, friend. You did not seem to like it I think....... Anyways, thats the deal. I suggest you make haste. I do not like to wait."

Gramgran
Looking at Morpetor worries, she looks around for anything bothering him.

Perception 24
What spell are you using? I'm assuming detect thoughts.
As far as everyone else, nothing stands out. The room is still, but a draft can be felt coming from the south.

At Morepetor's words Yuri draws his sword, and pulls his shield up in a defensive stance.
Slowly moving forwards towards the chasm, he darts his eyes to the ceiling, the bridges, the floor and finally, down into the chasm.
Perception - 20 checking for the source of the voice in Morepetor's head.
Survival - 18 checking the cavern floor for tracks.
OOC- Yes, I just forgot the name of the spell lol. Detect thoughts is the spell i am using.
You can hear the voice in Morpetor’s head, plus whatever he telepathically says back, if anything, starting at post #884.
