A few rumors and conversations from last night and today.
"Did you hear about the new ghost pirate that attacked the Harbour district? He brought three demon things with him and tore up the gang war there. His name is Captain Bone or something like that."
"There will be a public execution at Executioners square tomorrow morning. Likely beheadings, hangings, maybe some sort of stoning. There will be a lot of folks attending as well as plenty of good food, various vendors, and of course, pick pockets."
"Lord Azzur often does public displays to keep the pirates and others who are considering taking his place in check."
"There is a place in town called "The Pit," that does non weapon fist fights. Its a great place to bet on the fighters. Sometimes, even people of note like Spike, Ironhand, and Longfinger are there, raising the stakes."
"It seems that the weather has been unseasonably cold. Some snowflakes fell last night and this rarely happens in this area of Allansia."
"Carulus the Grey, a very busy undertaker, has noticed that some of the bodies of the dead have gone missing from her care."
"After we secure a meeting with Nicodemus and hopefully gain his aid... are we going right back to cache 5?"
Zarbyn eats some breakfast and drinks any non-alcoholic beverage, unless someone is having a serious drink... then Zarbyn will share a drink or two as it beats what they would have on the road.

Zarbyn gestures toward Twiggy flying nearby, "I could have Twiggy stay with you and let you know how things are going?"

"What if the meeting she sets up with Nicodemus is based on who's present when we meet her? Maybe we should have Halbert accompany us... he'll be announced at the gate anyway so she will know we're not trying to hide anything from her... and that way he can be included in the meeting with Nicodemus?"
" Perhaps....but if we guess wrong then there will be no meeting with Nicodemus at all.....at least through her..."
Amdaeng shrugged, " Fang is easier.....your familys eunuchs talk to another families eunuchs and everything gets sorted out before any of the people who can organize executions even get involved."
As Amdaeng has her breakfast, she begins to notice that Ning seems restless. She keeps sniffing at the air, and looking back toward the kitchen.
Outside, the weather seems has improved from last night. The rain/ snow mix has stopped and it is more foggy and cloudy out on this crisp cool morning.
More patrons come down from their sleeping quarters for breakfast.
The huge tattooed warrior comes down the stairs. He is accompanied by two town guards, wearing blue bands around their arms.They are each brought a plate of food. It is then that you notice that the man has shackles both wrists, a thick chain between them.
The two guards see Amdaeng stand and glance at her, appraising if she is a threat, then go back to eating with their captive. She walks up to a counter where food is being served from the kitchen. Ning seems more antsy but Amdaeng doesn't see anything unusual, yet.
Amdaeng sees a door in the back close as someone just exited. Ning smells at the door and handle. She is not afraid, more curious, as if she has picked up a scent. One more interesting to her than even the morning food in the kitchen.
Lev was likely the last to find sleep that night. Too many things were going on in his head for him to truly rest. The rumors of the Pit circled amongst his thoughts, specifically the bit about Longfinger possibly being present. How would things turn out if he were the one to seek out his enemy? Yet he couldn't just run off and deal with that, not when his companions were relying on him. They had to deal with the serpent queen first... and then Shareela.
After a restless night, he was one of the first to head downstairs. In spite of his worry of discovery, he also wanted to scope out the inn's patrons this morning to ensure their party wasn't in immediate danger. When others come join him and the topic of their new companion comes up, Lev responds, "I... think it best if he doesn't get involved with the Serpent Queen. If he really is going to be joining us, it would be best to have at least one member of our company without ties to her. Besides, what if she decides to add on another task simply for bringing him in? Or as payment for helping him as well. We don't have time for that."
When Halbert asks what their next steps are, Lev looks expectantly at his companions. They hadn't decided on what to do yet, whether Halbert is or isn't accompanying them to see the Serpent Queen. Regardless, he'll stand by his opinion, though he won't speak it unless they've all come to an agreement.
He frowns as Amdaeng follows Ning into the kitchen, "Where are you..."he raises a hand in her direction, and promptly lets it fall to his lap as the monk wanders off. Looking to Vydar and Zarbyn, he gives them a questioning look before standing and moving to follow Amdaeng. The last thing they need is for any of them to be alone in this city.
Amdaeng opens the door and sees a short stairwell descending into a pool of water (8 steps). The water is stirred up from someone just entering it, but they are gone.
on the wall, Amdaeng sees a familiar image. The symbol of the Cult of the Dragon King (Worshipers of the Snake Demon Myurr)
Lev seeing Amdaeng and Ning follows behind. Seeing the stairwell going down and the symbol, Lev and Ning head back to get the others.
Lira has also joined the table and is eating some breakfast.
In the meantime, Amdaeng heads down the steps into the water. Holding her breath, she goes under the water, realizing that it is an underwater tunnel. Holding her breath, she swims the distance (20 feet) where it opens up into another stairwell going up. There is a doorway at the top of the stairs, (locked), and another symbol of the dragon king near the doorway.

Halbert wakes up and realises the others he met yesterday evening are not in the sleeping rooms...
a terrible sensation grips him: they left without him? oh, no...the only chance to meet Nicodemus...
he runs downstairs almost naked, just to realises the others are sitting at the table having breakfast.
Playing aloof he returns upstairs, puts up some clothes and joins the others for breakfast.

Amdaeng ruffles Nings head, glances at the chained man and heads towards the kitchen trying to sneak a glance within....

Ning climbs over the counter and enters the kitchen. She seems to be following a scent, but not toward food, but toward a door in the back.
Amdaeng immediately follows making apologies as she does but sticking close as possible to Ning.
