As Amdaeng points this out to the group, Vydar sees the outline of a door. Jharek feels over the edge and touches what he believes to be a ladder going down to the steps below.
Also relieved at how well their interaction with the Serpant Queen went, he catches Halbert up on what occurred and the information she provided. While on their way, he tries to think of an introduction to Niccodemus that doesn’t seem like they were on the hunt for him. His mind cannot grasp a way to explain how they would know his location.
Still, once they are able to find where he should be living, it occurs to him that the wizard doesn’t want to be found. But that can’t stop them, they need him. While searching around for an entrance to his house, he stumbles upon the ladder. He doesn’t speak, but points to what he had found. He will lead the way once the others are ready…
Now that the group has spotted the invisible home, the illusion seems to lift, and at least for the party, you see a small dirty shack floating on the river near the bridge. It is only 15 feet high, and maybe 10 feet wide, with several steps leading from the river to an elevated doorway. On the door, a wooden sign says,
Zarbyn scrambles down after the others and then looks back up, "Maybe Vydar should introduce himself... I mean isn't it a wizard thing or something?"
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
Vydar shoots his companions a slight glare as they push him towards the door. Just cause he’s a wizard doesn’t mean this guy will think any better of him than he would anyone else… probably. “Not all wizards know each other.” He mumbles under his breath. Rolling his eyes he gives the door a few taps.
He gives the door a flat look upon hearing the response from behind it. Great, this wizard is crazy. He sighs irritably, “Not that words will mean anything to you but we aren’t pirates or whatever, and your squawking is the only thing mimicking a seagull here.”
He considers the wizards words while examining the door. Three spells and a spoon eh? As he speaks he begins to cast detect magic hoping to learn the school of magic each spell is from. “If I were to identify what kind of magic you used on this door would you believe we aren’t common thieves? Believe it or the only thing we want from you is answers and maybe some help.”
Part of his talk is just stalling while he casts his spell, and part of it is a likely futile attempt to convince the wizard they aren’t thieves.
(I had intended to have him cast detect magic when approaching the bridge but it seems I was too slow.)
Lev gives Vydar an expectant glance, eyes following him as he approaches and knocks on the door. He raises an eyebrow at the wizards responses to the knocking and the questioning of their newest companion. “We are here to ask for aid,” he says with a sigh, moving to stand beside Vydar as the younger elf casts his own spells. If this wizard is so powerful, why not use his magic to determine who’s outside his door? Is he just playing the fool or is he actually a bit insane?
(OOC: is there by chance a window we can see through?)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Amdaeng things to herself, " Mr Wizard? Do you have any magic rings we could buy? Obviously we would need fingers to wear them on.......and luckily we do have them........because we are not fecking seagulls."
" Is this really the guy who was blasting Zanbar Bone? He seems a few sandwiches short of a picnic?", she asked the others, but loudly enough to be overheard.
" Maybe we should ask Yaztromo over in Darkwood.....far more professional."
Lira nodded along making loud affirmative noises. ( Help)
Vydar’s scowl deepens clearly not amused. “Would a stupid bird be able to tell you your house is covered in evocation, transmutation, and illusion magics?”
He turns towards Amdaeng when she begins speaking up, he catches on to her plan easily. “You might be right. If this guy really is the one that dealt with the litch why would he be so worried about thieves and seagulls.”
Vydar is holding back the urge to just cast shatter on the door. If this goes on long enough he might just do so…
as he continues the conversation with Amdaeng and Lira he looks around for anything about the house that might be useful.
You hear something fall to the floor, probably the spoon.
The door cracks open. Vydar thinks the house is some modified Tiny hut spell, with an illusion added.
The wizard peers out. He is sweating, red faced, clearly ill. The inside is much larger than it appears from outside. “It’s you, I saw you at the peer”
On The ground are 5 used potions vials. They are labeled like a prescription,
Take 1/2 teaspoon, once every day until symptoms improve. Dietrich Zuvembar, alchemist.
A string is tied across the room. Bread and spoons hang from it. Several dead seagulls are pinned to the wall.
”Now, cross this boundary.”
“If you peck at the bread, I’ll know. And if you steal a spoon… I’ll definitely know.”Niccodemus
Amdaeng points it out to the others, " That looks a bit " Wizardy"."

It is only 15 feet high, and maybe 10 feet wide, with several steps leading from the river to an elevated doorway. On the door, a wooden sign says,
Following Jhareks lead Amdaeng and Lira descend the ladder and head to the door. Ning stands watch up top.
Zarbyn scrambles down after the others and then looks back up, "Maybe Vydar should introduce himself... I mean isn't it a wizard thing or something?"
Pointing the the skull on the sign, Jherak declares, “That looks inviting. We could use any introduction we could get.”
He scratches his head. “Should we knock, or just announce our arrival?”
(So far nothing happens, although a few passersby peer over to see what you are up to.)
Amdaeng nods to Zarbyn and pushes Vydar forward towards the door.
Vydar tentatively knocks
There is a long pause.
From inside the shack comes a rustling noise, followed by the scrape of a chair. Then a muffled, suspicious voice
“I heard that! You can’t fool me with polite knocking! That is exactly what a seagull would do if it had hands! Very suspicious! Very tricky!”
Perplexed at the statement, Jherak repeats it to himself. “Just what a seagull would do?”
”I guess he wouldn’t believe we’re not trying to be tricky,” he says to the others. “What could we do to convince him?”
From inside the shack comes the sound of shuffling feet and a chair being dragged across the floor.
Niccodemus’s voice follows, sharp and indignant:
“Squawk, squawk! Back to the sea with you! I know that ‘talking’ trick. First you chat, then you steal my hat!”
A bottle clinks. Something metal rattles.
“I’ve reinforced the door with three spells and a spoon! You won’t peck your way in this time, sky-thieves!”
Vydar shoots his companions a slight glare as they push him towards the door. (There is a window on the side)
Vydar detects the entire house is magical, emitting evocation and transmutation magic, with strong illusion magic.
at Vydar and Levs comments, the man yells out.
From inside comes a nervous shuffle.
“I can hear the feathers in your voices. Nice try.”
A pause.
“‘We’re people, we need aid, let us in’—that’s exactly what a trained seagull would say.”
Something glass clinks.
You’re asking about the magic on my house now? Oh, very clever. Very advanced gull tactics. May as well give you a key.”
“I’m not opening this door unless you prove you’re not birds. And don’t say ‘we don’t have wings.’
(Can try perception, medicine, or other idea)
