Moving around the edge of the interior crater wall, you see a strange sight indeed.
A number of what you guess are Kobolds are using slings, and bows to throw rocks and shoot bolts toward something in the water. Several Kobolds are dressed differently, wearing fur robes. They are casting spells. One larger-looking one seems to be issuing commands. There are also many dead Kobolds scattered on the shore and floating face down in the water. You can't quite make out what they are fighting yet, but it is very large (I"m including a few pictures, so you can describe to the other pcs what you see)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Zarbyn looks back at everyone once Amdaeng slinks off counterclockwise, "I might as well try this direction, I don't want my lame attempts to give Amdaeng away."
30' Movement. Clockwise.

"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."

"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
Zarbyn sneaks clockwise, The sun has set but there is yet light. as he rounds the pyramid, he sees.
A dragon-looking humanoid wearing a cloak and multiple other dragon creatures (you assume Kobolds). The one in the cloak casts a firebolt at something in the water. Whatever it is, it is on some sort of huge rock or cliff jutting out of the water near the pyramid. The other ones are using missile weapons.

Whatever it is, it is on some sort of huge rock or cliff jutting out of the water near the pyramid. The other ones are using missile weapons.
As Amdaeng and Zarbyn sneak in different directions, more flashes of orange-red light are reflected on the water (coming from shore toward the pyramid.)
Then, the top of the pyramid glows again, and a white flash of light as lightning flashes through the sky.
Zarbyn and Amdaeng see the casters cast firebolts at something in the water, and then a flash of lightning streaks across the water and kills one of the Kobolds.
The light of day is quickly fading, anyone who can't see well in the dark may want to join one who can, lest you risk falling into off the cliff 10-20 feet into the water below. (Zarbyn can make it back to the group)
Vydar looks back and forth between the two humans as each sneaks in a different direction upon landing. Seriously? The two people who can't see in the dark. He rolls his eyes, and follows Amdaeng. He figures if the group is splitting, it makes more sense to split up the mages.
"Hey!" He says in a loud whisper, "Wait up, you'll be walking blind soon you know." He starts to scale the cliff that Amdaeng has already crossed. Hopefully he catches up to her before darkness falls completely.
Lev sighs, nodding as Vydar states the very thing he was thinking already. Sighing again, he heads off after Zarbyn to ensure that no one is left alone. As he walks off, he glances back at Iolinder and Paevira, hoping they have enough sense not to split up.
As the light begins to fade, the group splits into two. some going clockwise, some counterclockwise. The cliff is relatively safe at this level, but as the dark starts to take over, there is a chance of falling into the water if not careful.
Behind the pillar on the banks, is a gruesome sight. A large number of Kobolds are using missile weapons. One larger-looking Kobold seems to be issuing commands. There are many dead Kobolds scattered on the shore and floating face down in the water. Two spell casters again light up the night as their firebolts reflect off the water. As their spells hit the intended target, you realize what it is they are fighting.
A massive stone creature is standing 25 feet out of the water. It lifts a huge rock and throws it at a Kobold, crushing it instantly. (See pics above in post 570). Then the light of the two fire spells fades and they hit their target.
Amdaeng headed back to the group and informed them that a group of what she assumes are kobolds or tiny Lizardmen are fighting something in the water....
Zarbyn whispers to Lev, "Any way we can get closer, in case we need to help the others?"

Almost as if on cue, a bright flash streaks from the tip of the pyramid to the shore, lighting up the entire crater. It strikes its unwitting target and there is yet another shreak. Then the lights begin to fade again as the energy from the bolt dissipates.
Vydar and some others suspect that like himself, the Kobolds may have sunlight sensitivity. As the sun has set, they may eventually gain the upper hand on the stone creature.
(OOC: It is not pitch dark, but it is dark enough that if you do not have darkvision but are guided by one with darkvision you can move at regular movement along the pathways you are on.)
It felt weird. There were at least two things wrong with the situation. First, Iólinder could feel the effect of Vydar's spell making him less... heavy? He was not sure if that was the correct phrasing. He only knew that it felt like a stiff breeze would now be able to blow him off his feet. Second, and this was the one that was the most wrong: he had to jump over the edge of the cliff. Thousands upon thousands of years of survival instincts screamed at him not to do it and even the logical part of his brain chimed in with numbers and odds about surviving such a drop. In the end though, Iólinder closed his eyes, figuring it would be less scary or incentivizing to turn back, took a deep breath and took a leap of faith.
When he did not immediately feel himself splatter against hard rocks, Iólinder dared to open his eyes. What he saw and felt defied all logic. He was, quite literally, falling in slow motion. After the initial leap the actual descend did not seem that bad. He might had even enjoyed it were it not that his feet touched the ground moment before he could appreciate the situation. With a soft thud Iólinder landed some distance beneath his starting point. The childish part in him wanted to go again. The adult part noticed that the area was rife with the sound of battle.
From what the others said, it seemed that a group of kobolds was in battle with what appeared to be a giant man made of rocks. In order to get a better view Paevira, Vydar and Amdaeng went one way while Lev and Zarbyn went the other. 'Ah, a classic pincer maneuver.' Iólinder said approvingly and he joined Lev and Zarbyn on their side of the pyramid.

Amdaeng stopped and waited, better to let two enemies fight it out and then mop up the victor......at least that's the way she'd worked in team matches in the ring....
She waited for someone with better eyes to take the lead if they were going to move forward....
As you watch from both sides, it's like a fireworks celebration. Multiple missile weapons are being used to hit the stone creature. Most seem to bounce off, but a few shots do seem to penetrate the tough skin/ rock of the creature.
The two casters use firebolts and other spells, which do seem to penetrate. However, the creatures aim with huge rocks is quite accurate and one or two unfortunate kobolds seems to be crushed with each throw. Then there is the strange lightning coming out of the tip of the pyramid. It seems to need to recharge, but then hits and kills a kobold. It's frequency and strength may be reducing with each shot.
Your conclusion after observing the battle is that eventually, the Kobolds will most likely win the fight against the rocky like pyramid guardian.
Vydar sidles up to Amdaeng and watches the fight. He's not sure what the group wants to do, but he's all for letting the two parties fight it out and then picking off the leftovers.
"Are we waiting for those Kobolds to kill that guardian thing, or are we just going to try to get ahead of them?"He says to anyone near.
Amdaeng nods to Vydar, " Only if we can guarantee none of us are seen trying to get past or things will get.....hectic....also I think the pyramids running out of juice.....maybe......"
Zarbyn whispers to Lev, "Let's defer to the main group, and be ready to back their play."

Storms heroes have separated into two groups. We have Amdaeng, Vydar, and Paevira on the west side of the crater, and Zarbyn, Lev, and Iólinder on the east.
Fascinated by the light show and battle between the Kobold force and the guardian, neither group takes action as the battle unfolds.
After 30 seconds, you note two things. The lightning coming out of the pyramid seems to be sputtering out, and the Kobolds will inevitably win. The giant rock creature seems to be close to being destroyed. (During these 3 rounds, if there are some actions you would like to take, I'll adjust the narrative).
Now present in the battle is the
Rock Guardian (very injured).
Two Kobold Sorcerers (wearing furs).
2 Kobold warriors (missile weapons)
The kobold leader, a clearly larger and better armored one, has been hit by lightning and survived the shot. (injured)
You can choose to intervene, take a side, wait and watch, or figure out how to cross the pool of water and begin climbing the pyramid, perhaps from the north side and out of the sight of those in combat. Regarding the pyramid, those who can see it in the dark see that it is a series of stone steps, and so far, see no apparent entrance. Those who can not see well, have moonlight so can at least see those nearby. If engaging in combat in the dark , will be fighting with disadvantage.
Owlbear rodeo is still active and we can use this if you engage in combat. The distance is out of scale, you are about one round from being in range for combat.
Amdaeng shoots Paevira a sly look and a half smile, " I'm gonna head round and have look at whats going on if thats ok."
40' Movement. Anticlockwise.
Stealth- 23 ( Theres still stars and explosions so assuming she can still see fairly well at this point as long as she doesn't Dash.)
