"Ok, let's do that then. I'll still send Twiggy along with you invisibly, she might be able to help in some way."
Zarbyn pats Iolinder on the shoulder and stands ready to rush to his side if things don't work out.
Twiggy flies over to about 5 feet of the left of Iolinder and then turns invisible.
"I'll also keep quiet and out of your way but you won't be alone."

"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
Lev nods, "I can teleport if need be." He looks down the drop. "I agree that they don't seem much of a threat, but either way I can reach you quickly if you need help."Under other circumstances he would have insisted that he be the one to approach this unknown party, but Iolinder is better suited to speak to these gnomes than Lev is.
(Sounds like the first group includes Iolinder, Twiggy, and Lira? Lev and the others will be ready to support if something bad happens....If any others also want to get down, let me know how) Iolinder will have to tie off a rope and drop the last 10 feet or so. (Make a climbing/ athletics/ strength roll, let me know if you do anything to make the climb easier/ safer)
Lira seems to be able to climb down with little effort.
Iolinder and Lira (and Twiggy) climb down about 60 feet to a lower level. It's a 20 foot wide passage, headed east for about 100 feet.
There are two gnomes. One seems younger, the other old with some white in his beard. They are standing near two large arbalests that are actually larger than the two men, who stand about 4 feet tall. Both siege weapons face an open cave and have very large crossbow like bolts in them. Unlike the rest of the mines which have been carved out meticulously by the dwarves, this cave seems more natural.
Behind the two gnomes and the weapons is a doorway. Painted above the doorway is the all too familiar image of the Snake Demon Myurr.
"Hey....(cough cough), did you hear something?"
"Yeah, I did, but...who?"
"Come out and show yourself or we will fire these things!"
"I mean you no harm. Save your arrows for when they are needed. I do hope you don't worship that thing though (pointing to the image of Myurr) that would be... Unfortunate."
He will walk forward confidently using full movement, ready to dodge if they attack.
Lira will hang back, distracted as she stares wide-eyed at the painting for a few moments. She gives a shaky breath and turns her gaze away, trying to calm her racing heart.
"Hugh? You think we worship the Snake D.....(cut off), the younger one says
"Shhhhhh. Pip! Don't say her name, she will hear you!" (Bramble whispers)
They keep their weapons aimed at the cave entrance.
"We worship Tiriel."
Iólinder
Lord Moon. The Moon is worshipped by the Dark Elves and some other races as Tiriel, "the Silent Guardian"
"If I were you, I'd keep yourself ready for it to come out, (He points to the dark cave) but please don't shoot our friend Saya. I"m Bramble, and that there is Pip." Bramble has a coughing fit.
"Have you seen a beaut.......a girl with a funny hat? She's been in there a long time. I'm Pip"
The two gnomes are unarmored and have minimal weapons (small daggers, torches, a few odd potions and stones hanging from their belts.) The appear to be pale in complexion, yet have flushed faces, with beads of sweet coming off their brows.
(Any Dark Elf in the group, aka, Lev...
The goddess mentioned is often worshipped by Dark Elves in Allansia (the goddess of the moon).
Twiggy has not been detected yet, however, Zarbyn may know that Gnomes are able to turn invisible as well, so...
“Her name is Saya, she’s sort of our leader." Pip smiles, dreamily.
“She's been maybe 15 minutes are so. My sister is trying to draw the giant lizard here. Then, we hit it with these dwarven war weapons. Then we can get back out.”
Pip looks behind him at the closed door. "Bramble, it says we should come back in."
"You're trying to lure a 'giant lizard' into this corridor? Also... What do you mean 'it says' to come back in?"
Iólinder casts shillelagh on his staff as he moves closer to where the gnomes are.
(Should be 10ft from the wall with most of the corridor between him and the party)
He then says a prayer to Telak and looks/listens towards the cave for any sign of approaching creatures...
Guidance/Perception: 22
... He holds his staff and shield on an akimbo position as he realizes anything charging into the corridor would be trapped within a pincer trap between the gnomes and the rest of the party.
The only one in immediate danger should be... Him.
"Yes, we found a creatures tunnel in the mountain, a huge lizard. We entered when it had exited. We thought we would look for eggs as they have great value, and sometimes, we can even train these types of beasts young. Anyway, we explored the tunnel and found this strange dwarves place with the painting above the door. Inside is a warm humid lava tunnel with a pit at the bottom.
"Yeah, but then there's the special mushrooms growing there. They were.....delicious and we ate too many, but....I think they may be a bit poisonous to us."
Pip looks at Bramble: "Anyway, maybe it was the mushrooms.... but something inside told us to reach into the lava for the best mushrooms, and our friend....Gretta did just that."
Bramble starts to cry. "She caught on fire and....died."
"When we started to run out...the Lizard had returned."
Iólinder will relax once again and soak Ina soft voice to Twiggy.
"I don't know what I expected to happen before climbing down, but I expected it to happen quickly. Do we wait to ambush something that may not come? Or do we set out to rescue a gnome? Or do we continue searching for the anvil? Each step seems to lead to new paths. Can you communicate with Zarbyn and find out how the others want to proceed?

(How will you get down the 60foot cliff wall to the lower level?)
I have a once daily use of the "jump" spell. If there's a ledge within 30ft I'll use that to bound my way down with jumps.
If there is no such ledge, I have 50ft of ropei can use to climb down.
Actually, I should tie off the rope anyway to give others a way down as well, but I'll be ready with jump if I need it.
"I don't think they'll be hostile, but I'm confident I can defend myself for a short time if it comes to that. Twiggy's company is welcome though."
(Lira has Second-story Work from her subclass:
You’ve trained to get into especially hard-to-reach places, granting you these benefits.
Climber. You gain a Climb Speed equal to your Speed.
Jumper. You can determine your jump distance using your Dexterity rather than your Strength.
She will climb down without the rope if there appear to be footholds.)

Iólinder will stand in a relaxed posture, as though there's nothing in the cave he deems a threat.
"You're waiting for a friend then. How long has she been gone? And what is she doing alone in the cave while you lot remain here?"
He continues moving forward, full movement, and should be 60ft closer (about 40ft) from them now)

Zarbyn shares the questions posed by Iolinder with the group and after asks, "I think we should join them just in case the giant lizard shows up."
Twiggy hovers near enough to Iolinder to not be overheard and whispers, "Yes."
The gnomes look a bit confused, as they don’t see you talking to Lira.
”The others? There are more of you?”
”And…one is invisible or hiding.”
to the air
”we can do that too you know.”
