Lira frowns curiously, feeling a strong urge to approach the coffin and examine it. It feels like more than just her treasure hunting instincts. She gets up and heads over, still soaked from her trip down the well. She leans in to get a better look.
Lira is intrigued by the marks in the interior and part of the lid of the coffin.
It is scratch marks from a person's nails. Many many scratch marks. Thousands of them. Someone was trapped inside. Someone with their hands and nails broke out of this coffin. SHAREELLA WAS HERE. Lira is certain.
Lev helps move the lid of the coffin aside, also peering into it. Part of him wonders if he’d even actually seen the spectral woman what with his previous fear induced state.
For Lev: The coffin is filled with tiny cuts, but not all of it, the underside of the lid, and three walls of the coffin all seem scored by something, like a dagger or even smaller.
Lira flinches and stumbles back at the sight, her hand moving to her amulet unconsciously.
"Shareella was here! I feel it...She was trapped. It looks like she had to claw her way out." She tries to resist the faint pang of sympathy that stirs in her heart at the thought, but then remembers her promise to the tribe. "Hate makes us weak," she repeats to herself, trying to relax and think clearly, "This is the room where she was trapped at the end of River of Blood. But in the story, Nemset and her daughter were just trapped inside too. I guess the head story was a continuation of it..."
Lev had had a feeling that the two stories were connected. Everything seems to lead back to this ice queen currently, but what does that mean for their current situation?
To Zarbyn he says, “how do we disrupt a ritual when we can’t interact with anything contributing to it?”
On the other side of the room, Amdaeng and Iólinder note something quite disturbing. (Need wisdom saves from both and Vydar)
The ghostly skeleton guards are becoming less transparent as each head is attached. In addition, their human features, skin, turbans, and facial hair are fading and their bones and skulls are becoming more prominent than earlier in the ritual.
A lot was happening and Iólinder was not sure he got all of it. A torrent of blood, a ghostly torrent of blood for he could not feel the actual liquid, had appeared. Lira had descended down a well and brought up the mortal remains of what everyone agreed was the girl's mother. The girl herself still occupied herself with reuniting severed heads with their decapitated bodies, as if she was, quite literally, reassembling the royal guard. Which were becoming more and more corporeal at an alarming rate.
A chill went down Iólinder's spine. His fight or flight instinct was triggered and while every fiber in his body would rather have him flee, he stood his ground. Perhaps his morbid curiosity really was going to be the death of him someday.
He pulled out the spell scroll given to him. He had read it a bit to know the mechanics. He needed to target a corpse that was not undead and had a mouth. Iólinder realised this meant the ghost girl was not eligible. Was the mother a valid target? She fit the criteria but Iólinder did not know if a head seperated from the rest of the body would pose a problem. But as the girl was not reacting to any of their pleas, perhaps her mother could reach her. Or at least provide some means of doing so.
Iólinder was about to step forward to join the others deeper down in the throne room when Amdaeng suddenly turned and ran towards him. He could only see it briefly but Iólinder saw the flash of fear in the woman's eyes. Instinctively Iólinder stepped between Amdaeng and the room's exit in the hope that physically stopping her would help to calm her down, though he was not sure he even could stop the more athletic woman. Iólinder hoped the weight of his armour and shield could give him an edge.
'Get a hold of yourself, Amdaeng!' The half-elf shouted. 'Do not let fear guide your actions.'
(Amdaeng will run for 1 round, then can make another DC 5 wisdom check. If fails, will keep running. If succeeds, can do as they wish.)
(OOC Point of clarification: Lira brought out of the pit a full sized head of an elf. Second: A complete skeleton including head of a young child. The coffin is open and there are multiple scratch marks within. Lira mentioned Shareella. Lev is seeing things, some are seeing a red river of blood at their feet, some are panicking. )
The girl ghost, continues on her trajectory, grabs another head from the ice, sticking her hands through the unbroken ice, then bringing out another head. A mans head with a crooked nose, a few gold teeth, a blue turban. She brings it to another body lying without a head beside a pillar. "Naim."
Lira sees no signs of a body but Lev did say something curious, “a spectral woman”. Looking about she sees no signs of this. That does not fit the child ghosts description.
"I think the skull of the mother might be sufficient to converse with and maybe find out what has to be done." Zarbyn offers his opinion hoping it doesn't drift too far from anyone else's.
His mind is racing with disjointed memories and half-formed thoughts, hearing Lev inquire about not being able to interact with the ghosts, "Then look for anything that we can interact with. Maybe the coffin has something to do with her ritual?"

Behind the coffin is a Dias that used to hold a throne. There is a cave in here, it appears to be impassable. Give rocks and blocks of ice cover whatever was beyond.

Lira
Lira's eyes are drawn to the open coffin. She does not know why but she feels an urgency to investigate it (perception).
